Why waste the time? It's going to be ridiculously expensive to make an old hardly go fast.... I get if you want an old rat rod type bike, but you need to change a couple expectations... If you wanna go fast and don't have much money, you ain't gonna do it on an antique harley... You'll have less money in buying a newer bike to race than you will fabbing up crap to make yours fast

Once she sat on it and realized how nice it was, she was afraid of dropping it and messing it up... So I think she's wanting a used bike now... Can't make up her mind lol... I'll update the thread whenever she decides to get something
-
Just upgrade your AAA. It's like 10-15 extra per year for RV coverage I believe

Can out of state play? That 6k would be a nice downpayment on my cb1000r

Thanks for the heads up. I would really like to do business with western honda.. Now I'll make sure I do.

Sv650 Vs. Sv1000 Vs. Gsxr-750 Vs. ??? For Track Days

Damn, you try dumping that TL on someone in every thread... -
Western Honda in Scottsdale will be my first stop.. If they don't have a white one when I'm ready to buy, I'll check Ride Now in Peoria.. Really liked the staff at Western, very nice and helpful.. Even offered to roll the bike outside in 105 degree temps so I could see the paint in the sunlight, even though they knew I wasn't quite ready to make a purchase

She liked the gs500f too... I think I'm gonna look for an older ninja 500 to start her on... She wants to go to the gap next year, so we're gonna hopefully make it... Long ass drive now, but hopefully we can both make it there

I like the icon because it has the pocket to install the Stryker back protector direct into the jacket.. Way more convenient than wearing it independently

Didn't like it? I'm buying one Friday

Seems this bike only has like 15hp and 20ft-lb more than VFR, maybe 10mph top speed higher, and 20lbs lighter... But for some reason, it felt so much better.. It was thinner, less bulky, the weight was centered lower, feels way more nimble, and I'm pretty over the under tail exhaust.. What an awful setup for a street bike imo... Burns my ass in traffic lol... On paper they're very similar, but sitting on them, the cb feels so much nicer... And I actually like that it's not fully faired... The fairings are a pain sometimes... It won't have the punch of the cbr like I originally wanted, but I feel like it's going to satisfy my needs perfectly... The cbr I looked at was nice, but after sitting on both back to back, it was a no brainer

Yuck. Lol

Know when the 14s will be rolling out?

I'm not picking one based on what I like lol. If it was up to me, it would be a busted up ninja 250. She actually wants something like a 600rr... But I refuse to put her on a 600 supersport when she's never even ridden before. Been trying to find some options for bikes that look fast but really aren't. She doesn't want a 250 because she thinks she will outgrow it.. I'm kinda Ok with that, just because of how fast everyone drives around here.. Don't want her to have to rev it to death to go on the highway... I think a 500 will be good... She looked at an older ninja 500 and didn't hate it.. We may go that route.. But these new cbr500r aren't priced bad at all.. I plan to pick up a new bike in 2-3 months, maybe they will cut some money off if we buy one of these at the same time

Went to a Honda dealership today intent on checking out a cbr1000rr... Sat on it and sat on the cb1000r ...the cb was amazing. Super comfortable to sit on, should have plenty of power... It didn't even compare with the cbr in comfort or looks... It seems like an all around better bike. After talking with my gf, she thinks I should spend a little more and get a brand new one. I won't need the VFR anymore, this bike seems plenty comfortable to commute on. It costs more than I was budgeting for a new bike though... So I'm gonna have to wait until this fall to pick it up because I have a few other things I wanna pay up before I get a new toy. Probably list the VFR in august and try to pick this up in September. Can't wait.

It CAN be reckless op. Still depends on the officers mood. I got 71 in a 45 and it was regular 2pt speeding ticket

only read the end where he actually did it (morbid curiousity of what a person says while in the process of dying).....that shit is fucked up.

**edit... Ooh, chain bra chick lol.. Missed that at first, just focused on the tits

Bump... Now that we're settled and have a car, she's interested again... If this job goes through that she's applying for, she can probably afford something a bit nicer Any opinions on a new cbr500r? She's learning to drive a manual transmission car right now and pretty good on it.. And I took her around the neighborhood at low speed (helmets off so it's easy to communicate) and explained some basic handling such as pressing in the direction you want to go etc... I'd hate to see her drop a new bike, but I think the 500 would be a great bike for her... I hear it's only got like 47hp too, which I like lol

155 for a 3yr old car, bike, and 50k renters insurance? That doesn't really seem that bad to me...

itll depend on whats available when the time comes, and on any reviews ...i havent looked into the 848 at all or the maintenance req etc i saw one earlier for around 9 on the CL ap on my phone...dont see it now...i see some newer ones for around 11, and a nice 1098 for 12......but if i spent that much on a bike, the VFR would have to go to help finance it.....not sure i wanna get rid of it quite yet....ill look around when it gets closer and after i look into the maintenance req
-
appreciate it...but i live rather far away...im also not looking to make a purchase until probably august/september. i saw an 848 on CL today and was drooling over it...i might possibly consider one...not sure id like to eventually do this....once i get the new bike, i will probably look into selling the vfr and getting an fjr1300 to replace it. my girl really wants it though, so she might end up with it. it wouldnt be her starter bike...i told her shes gotta start out on something smaller for awhile to get used to the controls and everything...but i think after shes been riding for a while, she can handle the vfr as for cops not liking bikes, im not sure.....i got stopped the other day for a pretty serious offense, and while the guy was a complete dick to me during the stop, he did let me off with a warning......so who knows....honestly, it seems like you have to really piss off a cop to even get pulled over here....even the cops drive 20 over.....the main stops around here are illegal use of the HOV lane, not much else....i got stopped for having ohio plates (expired)....turns out its illegal to live and work in AZ and still have ohio plates and license, theres no grace period. my tags expired may 27th and i didnt get a paycheck until last friday the 15th ....my tags are fine now, but i was riding around on bad plates for a minute and he stopped me.....he said i was doing 85 (so was everybody else....even him), which i guess is criminal speeding here since its 20mph over...bad plates and equipment violation (fender elim) also.....he chewed me out for 10 minutes and let me go

II won't be commuting daily.. Just once or twice a week... But it'll be a fun bike to take out on the weekends and have fun on, or just those days I feel like playing a little harder... I'm kind of set on a sport bike since I already have the VFR for everything else... I don't see myself going to a cruiser any time soon... My vmax was fun, but I thoroughly enjoy riding something a little more smooth feeling... Power isn't everything or I'd find a busa... So, I'm not dead set on a supersport, but I'm strongly leaning that direction at this time
-
Awesome thanks for the replies everyone... And for all the info Revel Sounds like the Hondas are the way to go over the yamahas.. People here avg 80-90mph commuting (on highways, not city freeways),so wind resistance is semi important.. I'll check out both Hondas and see which feels better sitting on them

I'm not looking for approval .. Just opinions on the 4 bikes I mentioned
