My friend went to the Rahal facility a few weeks back for a blood drive. While there he met a bunch of people and entered in a raffle for a weekends worth of hospitality from the team. I was fortunate enough to be asked to join him on Friday. Upon arriving we headed over to the hospitality truck and got our passes and such for the day. The entire experience was mind boggling. We had lunch next to Mr. Rahal himself and got to hear them talking strategy for the big race. Very cool. To make a long story short, we grabbed a cart and hit up a lot of spots along the track. Most of which I had never shot at. I've got plenty more pictures, but these are my favorites. I am going to print one of the pictures of their car out and my buddy is going to make a custom CF frame to put it in and give to them as a thank you gift. So let me know which one you like best of that car. Would anyone be up for an early morning Saturday shoot? I will be back in town to do a wedding on Friday (August 9th) and will be spending the night up there. It'd have to be pretty early though to get the sunrise and so I can make it back down to Cincinnati at a half way decent hour.

Chalk me up as a photography nerd as well! Unfortunately I just moved down to Cincinnati. If you guys wanna come down here some time I'd definitely like to meet up. I have been tutoring a buddy down here for the last month and wouldn't mind helping anyone else out.

Someone I know risked his neck by bringing his Dad's Miata down to Cincinnati for some pictures. I hear he is gong to be giving them to his father for his bday, great idea! Well my fiancé was busy all day, and since I have no life I decided to spend the day cruising around stopping here and there to snap some pictures. The lightning was a spectacular show, however there was no safe place to pull over and snap away. Just the other week I spent some time watching a ton of tornado video's. I think this one is pretty amazing. Just look at that rotation! Also, check out this site: http://www.tornadovideos.net/ You can track storm chasers via GPS as well as streaming video from on top of their vehicles. It's quite fun when the weather is active.

I'm using Canon's IR transmitter (St-e2) to fire my strobes. It's nice in the fact that you can still utilize the ETTL feature, but I would say that it is inferior to PW's once you learn how to set up the lighting on manual mode. The only reason I haven't switched yet is because I have been saving up for a ring for the girlfriend. Ah the sacrifices...

First off, get over yourself. I didn't give you any negative rep buddy, so why don't you just calm down. Besides, I could give two shits what you think about my car, I like it and that's all that matters. Thanks for calling me a douche bag for absolutely no reason. Well before I left last Monday, I spent some time down on campus photographing my new car in some of my favorite spots down there. 2 funnel clouds were spotted within 5 miles of my Mom's house in Morrow (by Kings Island) and I can't get in touch with her! I am flipping out up here.

I saw it in my mailbox, give me until my exams are done to think about it, okay?

Well if you search the guy's name you can see he's got this whole mysterious equation thing that he says he wrote but doesn't know what they mean. I'm sorry but until I see the video I will think he is one of those stupid people that try to get their 15 min. of fame by making themselves look absolutely ridiculous. When searching I did come a cross a very interesting video on YouTube about the Deep Space Hubble exposure. I think it was titled: "The Single Most Important Image of Man Kind" or something like that. Now I'm not one of those crazy types that thinks aliens are living among us (some are pretty weird though), but that makes it pretty hard to believe that there isn't someone/thing else somewhere out there.

I did a bunch of switching and ended up at Turfgrass Science. I started in Business and jumped around a bit before I finally decided what I wanted to do with my life. I realized I don't want to be inside sitting at a desk every day, and if I do well in my career I easily make 6 figures. My boss down in Cincinnati is the Superintendent and assistant GM for the golf course. He wouldn't tell me any figures but he said he makes what a high level exec would make, and this guy dresses in jeans and a plaid shirt every day! Plus, you get to play on tractors and golf carts all day spraying and checking up on your crews. Just imagine how much money the Super makes at Muirfield.

I will be graduating on Sunday so I will start work the following Tuesday. Being a Turf major I can expect to take vacations in the winter. But I am going to TRY to make it up to my parents cabin on Lake Ontario. I haven't gone in 3 years and the g/f and I have been dying to go. Plus it's a an excellent place to ask for her hand in marriage.

What time of day do you usually shoot at? Also, what settings are you using for you camera Aperture Priority (AV on Canon), Shutter Priority (TV on Canon), or Manual (M). If you are using any of these make sure you are aware of your metering (the little bar that has +1/-1 to +2/-2) and you'll want to underexpose it by up to a full stop. Remember, that you can always fix an underexposed shot a lot more than you can with an overexposed shot since black still carries some color information. Some general tips to use if you don't know them yet are: Shoot in the "Golden Hour" around sunrise and sunset. Shoot the sunny side of the car, not the shadow side. If you are having a problem with reflections try picking up a Circular Polarizer, that'll also make the sky a much darker blue. That's all I can think of for right now, if you want feel free to send me a pm with some pictures and tell me what you don't like about them and maybe I can help you figure out how to make 'em a little better. The main thing is to practice, practice, practice. I can't tell you how many pictures I have of my old G20's from when I'd just go out and shoot for the sake of getting comfortable with something that I read. It's definitely something that comes with experience, but that doesn't mean you can't produce quality images right now. It just gets easier as time marches on.

Hehe, I have no connections but I may try it since I'll be graduating on Sunday... maybe Sunday night. Probably not. What kind of tips are you looking for exactly? Are you looking more for technical information about the camera or do you need help with composition and such? It's on the back side of the parking garage that sits next to the RPAC in the middle of campus, by the hospital.
