That's a lot of straps to tie down a bike.
  3. I prefer twins & I seem to cumpulsively buy bikes Plus, I got it for a deal. It has an LSL Superbike bar kit which is close to the naked SV1000 riding position (came with stock clipons too). Also has dual Microns (loud), a PCIII, and various other farkles. You're welcome to take a look at it if you have any interest in the SV1K. I think you're about 2 miles from me.
  4. I just bought an SV1000S. Really good for what it is. Fully adjustable suspension, stiff frame, and the motor has plenty of low end grunt. Add hard bags and it would be a very sporty sport tourer. I've not heard of major issues, but there are a few 'characteristics' to get used to...like a noisy clutch basket. But that may seem quiet compared to a Ducati Monster clutch.
  5. I would buy this, but I'd need to try it on first. I'm near Cleveland though.
  6. Either the R/R or the stator.
  7. I don't think a Snell certified Arai or Shoei is going to protect better than a Snell certified Scorpion or KBC. That said, my current lid is ECE. The article also compares helmets at different price points. More money doesn't mean safer.
  8. I have no experience with the Vega brand. But I seriously doubt that Shoei or Arai are any safer than a Scoprion, KBC, Sparx or any number a good Snell or ECE helmets that can be had under $200. More expensive ones may have nicer liners or visor systems...and they better for $500.
  9. I logged somewhere around 425 miles for the day then drank beer and grilled steaks. A good day.
  10. are you sure? http://www.westcoastweasels.com/archives/PDF/Blowing_the_Lid_Off.pdf
  11. The Sparx S-07 is a surprisingly good helmet that is very lightweight. You can find them for dirt cheap on eBay. I used one for about 8,000 miles last year and it's holding up just fine.
  12. So who is showing up for this one?
  13. Crown Royal with Reddi Whip chasers
  14. 'Bout time. I'm sick of not being able to find any alcohol in Ohio.
  15. That's a good explanation. By leaning your body right, and for a moment pushing forward on the right clipon. The contact patch on the front tire is moving slightly left causing the bike to tip to the right? ...is that what he was saying???
  16. Perhaps a USMC ride is in order? Everyone will be on time. Any crashing would need to be done in a military fashion. Platoon 3096 Aug, 1990
  17. For CORE, brisk = ride within your limits...whatever they may be. For some, that can be brisk. We talk about the route ahead of time so no one gets lost. We stop to count bikes at every turn off or major intersection. No one wants to get too spread out
  18. That coumpond was in a neighborhood that primarily consisted of military and retired military. It is (was) 100 yds from a Pakastani military base. He was either being hidden by the Pakistani gov't, or by sympathizers within the Pakastani military. Either way, he's dead now.
  19. OK, but there any many sects of Muslims and all of them don't share the exact same opinion. Opinions of the US are different all over the world. Why give another reason for Muslims to hate us? I think burying at sea was smart. It avoids giving extremists a burial site as a symbol to fight over.
  20. Debating who get to take credit is pointless. Once the intelligence was strong enough to act on....they did. Anyone in that position would have done the same.
