  1. It says a lot about the company you work for when they want you to take more responsibility for less pay. What it says is that they are greedy bastards (& what company isn't.) This is the price we pay for living in a "free" society. Good luck.
  2. Jesus, the guy's probably smarter than you are. Imagine that.
  3. Welcome to the site. Hope to see you on the road after hibernation.
  4. Good luck man! Sorry for your circumstances right before the holidays & all. Play some blues & drink some beer. This will help.
  5. I've got PMS (parked motorcycle syndrom).
  6. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread. I'm all for a track day or two after the gravel thrashing I took in October.
  7. I agree. With competition like the new Triumph Speed Triple & the Kawasaki Z1000 & now the Ninja 1000 Honda will have problems selling many of these.
  8. I remember the over 700cc tariff well. I bought a new 700cc 1986 Yamaha Fazer. It was short stroked from the 750cc version sold elsewhere due to the tariff. Not a bad bike for the day & I surely wasn't going to pay a tariff & I surely wasn't going to buy a harley.
  9. The first bike I ever owned was great in the snow (1973 Yamaha 360 enduro with knobbies & a huge rear sprocket). I used to take it out in the snowy trails in the back 40 & enjoy the rooster tails. Subsequent bikes have not been quite as good in the snow. I had my CBR600RR out one night (very) late in the season one time. It was clear when I left the house & there was about 2 inches of the white stuff on the roads when I got back home. Not a ride I wish to repeat.
  10. WTF? I met a guy in Texas that was driving in New Jersey & got 2 years in jail in New York for an unregistered handgun. He had the unfortunate experience of driving on the same road that a presidental motorcade was on & then getting pulled over for a minor traffic violation. Hope everybody that reads this has better luck.
  11. Muddy Waters, Sun Rah, Frank Zappa, & John Coltrane. Music from the dead. Oh yea, The Gratefu Dead.

    Thanksgiving

Thanks. Hope everyone has a good one. The kitchen beckons (actually it's my wife).
  13. Some days the gods just have it in for you. Luckily for you they were just teasing. (Could be a lot worse but still sucks.) Better luck in the future.
  14. The more people I hear about the more I like my dogs. It's probably not like the owner of the dog that got run down opened the door & said have fun on the streets boy. I hope that whoever did this gets what they deserve in the future. Thanks for stopping to see what you could do.
  15. I won't be there since I live in Cleveland. Sounds like a good idea though. We don't do that up north because I guess there's too many icebergs. Oh well.

    New Baby

Congrats!!! When are you going to buy her her first motorcycle?
  17. You gotta be tough son. (Just wait till you get out in the real world)
  18. Please see Bike Magazine, January 2010. 109.7 RWHP @9600 RPM, 68.7 LB FT @ 7,400 RPM. That's unless they made big changes to the bike they're bringing to the US. I think that what they're bring US is pretty much what they've been selling in Europe & the UK for the last couple of years. Honda obviously think that naked riders are more docile than the full on sportbike crowd.
  19. Ah Haaaa! I know their market. Indian motorcycle cops.
  20. Northeastern? I find my results odd because I've spent my whole life in Ohio except for a couple years in Colorado & one year in England.
  21. Good luck. About 30 years ago I had a couple of friends who happened to be brothers embark on such an adventure. They both died one Sunday morning due to an engine problem & trees. Maybe you should reconsider & take up something safer like base jumping or cave diving.
  22. Check my avatar. I took the shot when I was in India on business last year. This seems to be the sort of bike of choice for the Indian rider. Probably because the average worker makes the equivalent of $1000 per year. The traffic situation there doesn't bode well for Hardleys there either. Traffic in India is a real trip.
  23. Careful with the cold tires & dew boys & girls. The only reason I haven't been riding lately is that I crashed out in the gravel pit (SR 536) about a month ago & have been working on replacing the broken plastic & regrowing some rib bones. (My wife's not letting me on her Ducati yet either.)
