  1. No more Honda's eh. Guess I"ll have to take my wife's little monster then. See you Sunday.
  2. I haven't ridden with any of you but this ride sounds tempting. I didn't read thru 33 pages of forum but are there any route specifics once we arrive in Coshocton? Do you folks mind having an older gentleman tag along?
  3. Riding in torrential downpours builds character.
  4. Monday 6/21 is National Ride Your Motorcycle to Work day (seriously). Who's in?
  5. Welcome to Ohio Riders from a fellow ridgebilly.
  6. Thanks everybody for all your help. The last 2 days were quite the life altering experience. I'll definitely be doing this again. The coaching well surpassed what I was expecting. Gonna cut this short because I'm whooped. Cheers.
  7. Does anybody have any fraction of a garage available for sublet for the 7th, & or 8th. Please let me know the details & I'll pony up with cash when I get there.
  8. Welcome to the forum from a North Ridgeville CBR1000RR rider. Don't know much about drag racing but if you ever want to venture down where the roads aren't straight drop me a line. I'm trying to get a 1 or 2 day Marietta OH or WV ride together for the week after July 4th. My 2 cents: Two up is no fun. Get your wife a bike. Mine started up on a Suzuki S40 in 05 & has now moved on to a Ducati 696.
  9. Thanks much for all the advice. The information is most helpful. I can't wait for the track. Although you can't do it justice here, any advice on body position on the bike on corners. I've been experimenting with body position on the corners (OH route 26 & 555 etc) & it seems that upper body position (kiss the mirror) is pretty effective in reducing lean angle, hanging your posterior off the bike seems secondary althouth the combination of the two seem to work the best. Any thoughts on that.
  10. I went down to the Dragon last May. Stayed in Dillard GA for 2 nights. The area really has a lot of phenomenal twisties besides 129. My 2 cents: Go on weekdays. There is a lot less police interference then. Pay attention to riders going the other way. If they're patting the top of their helmet slow down. This saved my bacon twice. Return the favor if you spot a cop. Don't think that you will be going the speed limit on 129 (it's 30mph for godsakes). I thought that I would try a pass of 129 at the speed limit & this lasted only the first 2 curves. One big difference I noticed between the twisties down there vs. southern Ohio twisties was the absence of gravel there. There you can actuall ride outside-inside-outside on the curves as is proper, not hold your line to 1 of 2 cage tire tracks through the gravel as you have to do much of the time in Ohio. Have fun & ride safe.
  11. Thanks for the pointers. Having never ridden track before I signed up for the novice class. I'll be riding down but my wife will be driving down as support.
  12. I signed up for my first track day(s) at Mid Ohio on June 7th & 8th. Reason being that the police, gravel, deer, etc, etc, etc, have got me down (not literally). Just asking if anyone could give me any insight on what to expect & prepare for. Thanks.
  13. Great message. Strictly to the point. Let the truth be spoken. I especially enjoyed the cursing.
  14. Where is the best place get a good price on one piece leathers? I've been searching for an Alpinestars RC-1 size 56 suit & everyplace I've looked so far has the same price ($999.95). Does anyone know where the good prices are?
  15. rsv don: You're so in control man. I'm super impressed! I was merely stating what can & often does happen when a newb gets their hands on a litrebike. I don't ride like a "twat" either.
  16. I spent about a year in the UK & the roundabouts there are the best thing since sliced bread. Traffic flow continues & there is a lot less opportunity for a "T-bone" collision. On the other hand, the skill level of the majority of drivers there (& in continental europe) is considerably better than what we see here. They require higher skills to get a license,& most people drive manual transmission cars so they are not so detached as US drivers.
  17. Getting your first sportbike? Are you used to riding with your front wheel off the ground at high speed? Are you used to adjusting your line & staying on the throttle (else highside) when your back wheel steps out a bit while exiting a corner? If your answer is no to either or both of the preceding questions, I would advise getting a 6oo or something similar. I forgot, BMW just came out with a I4 litrebike with traction & wheelie control. Good luck & have fun.
  18. On those same lines. Remember that it doesn't have to be frosty to ruin your fun. Tires do not warm up at temps in the low 40s or below. I have a lumpy collarbone to prove it (front end washout last year). Now I just pretend it's raining (traction wise) when I ride in the cold. I've got some Michelin Power One's on now & they claim better traction in the cold but I'm not ready to test those marketing claims.
  19. Welcome. I was born & bred in Bellbrook. I'm up just west of Cleveland now (Not much twisties here either).
  20. Welcome to the site. I'm in North Ridgeville. How newb are you & what kind of bike are you considering?
  21. How could you be undecided between a sportbike & a goldwing. That's like not being able to make up your mind between a Porsche & a Hummer. (I might be biased) Welcome to the site.
  22. Welcome. When you come to the fork in the road, take it.
  23. What kind of riding do you do on that big heavy bike? How GD old are you anyhow. I'm 51 years young & get down to the Dayton area every now & then (that's where I was born & bred). My last time through there was last week on my way back from Deals Gap. I decided why quit at 440 miles so I highway droned back up north here & made it a 640 mile day. I have a nephew who did the trip to Dayton with me & he is spending the summer there. Do you have any recommendations for twisties in the Wilmington area or are the roads prettymuch straight lines?
  24. Cortech has good bags. I just bought the 10 litre (& the saddlebag setup) & I worked great on my trip to the Deals Gap area last week. Don't buy too big of tank bag or it will interfere with your ability to tuck in (if that's important). The 10 litre seemed to work out well for this. The Cortech bags don't make your bike look shitty like some of the bags I've seen.
