  1. Thats crazy chevy that you knew him, what a small world. Ross was in my unit at the 87th. He was a great guy and I never imagined him doing that to himself. We all knew something was going on when the base commander came in with the Chaplin. This news was hard on our unit over the weekend. Also being in the Air Force there are SOO many resources available to get help and thats what I'm mad about. He didnt realize how many lives he affected and only if he knew that maybe this wouldnt of happened.

No shit, small world. I realized about halfway to work, riding the bike today probably wasn't the best of ideas. PM Sent.

  2. I don't like that article. It's a lot of "ZOMFG! This is ridiculous!"-type of fearmongering anti-gov't rhetoric. Not that a lot of it isn't true, just that it could've been presented in a more neutral stance.

That's not really 'new' news. Elyria hasn't implemented it yet, but it's been mentioned in the paper a few times because City Council was mulling over waste management contracts. IIRC the city gets a kickback from the trash company if they implement this (like the red-light camera deals).

I expect a resident revolt if it ever came to that. Though, I'm not opposed to the idea that you pay per ton-type of programs vs. flat rate regardless of what you put to the curb. It's fair that someone should pay more if they create 50lbs more of trash/week over my household. Just like it'd be fair to charge me extra the week I threw out a couch over my normal garbage.

Also... programs like these have a lot of unintended consequences that people should probably consider. Plus consider #3 on this list

I didn't read the whole original post, simply because I'm really not in the mood to, but I did look at #3 on your list.

we've increased the number of trees over the last 50 years as logging companies plant more to ensure future supply

I've know this for a while, most people don't. Logging companies realized if they log ALL the trees, they'll be outta business so they renew their supply.

Also I believe some types of recyclables are more expensive to recycle than make in the first place.
