So it doesn't matter which one you get to carry then? Or does it matter if I would like to carry on me... I thought I read that one was on you and the other was in a car but not on the person.
No, they are the exact same thing. You will call your county or an adjacent county sheriffs office for your permit. They will make you an appointment. You go in, hand them your paperwork, get finger printed for a background check and leave. They will call you back when it is read and issue your permit. It it just a license sized card with your picture and says License to Carry a Concealed Handgun or something along those lines. Find the website for your sheriff's department and it will list what you need to do for your CHL and how much it is, I think it is $67 right now.
what you may be thinking of is that if you openly carry a gun you are legal to do so here in Ohio. If you get into a car, you are now breaking the law without a CHL or CCW permit because once in a vehicle, or on a bike, it is now considered concealed. If you have a CHL you can openly carry or carry concealed out and about or in your car. Without a CHL you cannot have a loaded gun in the car or anywhere on your person. Make sense?

FYI:
2009 Ohio AG's Concealed Carry handbook. http://www.ohioattorneygeneral.gov/ConcealedCarryBook It is required by law to read this.

List of common acronyms used.

CCW, Concealed Carry Weapon commonly used to refer to the permit. CHL is Concealed Handgun License. All basically refer to your permit to conceal a handgun on your person.

everyone knows someone who hurt themselves doing something. But it sucks mang sorry.
I knew a guy in high school that died while skydiving.
Doesn't mean I wouldn't do it in a heartbeat though.

Just throwing this out there but my brother in law is airborne. He broke his back on a bad landing. He isn't allowed to jump anymore, too much damage and risk.

It isn't the fall that hurts, it's the sudden stop.

This is on my bucket list.

Congrats on picking up your first gun. I would advise against using this as anything more than a plinking gun. For home defense or a carry gun, get something of better quality and reliability. IMHO.

Yes, please remember those that have served and those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our way of life. I would urge everyone to take a few minutes to reflect on this tomorrow. If you see a veteran or someone in uniform shake their hand and thank them, but this should be done everyday.
To my fellow troopers of the 1st Squadron 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment that gave their life in Iraq, you will never be forgotten. It has been my honor to serve with you. Thank you.

I got my trailer weighed at a truck weigh station in Cali. The army needed a weight so they could pay be for my move back to Ohio.

Most stock speedometers are off to begin with. Mine reads 5mph faster at about 65. Says 70 but actually doing about 65.
What's the difference?
