  1. I'm gonna have to call on this. The aerodynamics of most modern vehicles is optimized for 55-65 MPH. To run 35, you're going to be in town, or lot's of stop and go, which will kill mileage. My 13 yr old Intrepid with 202,000+ on the clock will get close to 30 MPG on the highway, running about 70 MPH. Taking the back roads to work, keeping the speed down around 45, I get more like 23 MPG. As said earlier in the post that I quoted, it IS all about momentum.
  2. Drive as though there's an egg between the pedal and your foot, and you don't want to clean the mess that it would make if you smash it! In my Increpid, I can gain a couple MPG easily with driving habits, accelerating slowly, and lot's of coasting, slowin down for a stop early, using the brakes less, etc... I notice a a couple MPG increase in mileage when the fuel suppliers switch to summer blend. There IS a big difference in summer and winter gasoline.
  3. I'd tell you, but I'd have to kill you! I finally got around to rooting mine, and installed wifi tether, but rarely even could use it, I have wifi pretty much every where I go, but to have to option to do so was one reason I rooted. Also, my EVO shift doesn't have a reboot option in the power down menu, so I use quickboot.
  4. I have SpeedHUD for a simple GPS speedometer.
  5. I've heard both ways on this. I don't totally believe that the apps give up their memory. Maybe all apps (even the stock Android apps) are "poorly written?" I haven't seen this in practice. I understand the theory that 'nix apps are supposed to quit using memory when they're not being used, I just see my phone being more responsive after killing apps that keep restarting (stock apps that I haven't gotten rid of.) I need to get around to loading a different rom with the stock (sprint) apps loaded where I can delete them.
  6. Mine's the HTC EVO shift. Android phone. I voted Droid, although mine's not really a Droid, which I believe is copyrighted by Motorola (rights purchased, or whatever from Lucasarts.)
  7. Be quiet. The ones that ride are talking here! Wind has been one of the trickier forces that I've had to deal with on the bike. If it's really windy, I will usually opt not to ride, or at least slow down.
  8. All this talk about 208 and I need to get out there and ride it again. I've only been down it once on the bike, but I have been through part of it many times in a cage.
  9. Who said anything about Yota? Kawi's an elf. Keep it straight.
  10. Praying for you! I think I saw you out Saturday, in Westerville, on my way home from work!
  11. The guy that did the when he saw the camera looked a little like Moose! I think I know Moose better than that, though!
  12. You're just not old enough, legally. There are a couple others, and they are old enough!
  13. For some. My experience for the past 10+ years with Sprint has been excellent. Different areas have different coverage with every provider.
  14. I was thinking the same thing. .What a letdown. I kinda doubt that you rode a COTA (Central Ohio Transit Authority) bus that far. Maybe it was a Greyhound?
  15. Looks like the EVO shift that I have. The EVO shift has the 800 MHz processor as well, compared to the 1 GHz in the EVO, although many are saying that it performs, and benchmarks better than the EVO. The hardware keyboard looks the same, other than the arrow keys, where the shift has a navigation square thing. Some people are complaining about the battery life, but I get quite a bit of time on a charge, usually a couple days unless I leave 4g turned on.
  16. With laptops I worry more about who made the thing than the CPU inside it. Most mfg. make a good product these days, but some are known to hold up better, and just run better even with the exact same specs. They all seems to put some bloatware on them, and some are worse than others with that as well. I'm a pretty big fan of Toshiba, and have a laptop that's over 2 years old, has seen heavy use, been in a dusty dirty environment quite a bit, it was a refurb., and has been very reliable. I did load a clean copy of Windows 7 on it, and upgrade the hard drive and RAM a year ago, and replaced the battery with a cheap ebay unit this year, but I've still spent less than $1000 on it including purchase price.
  17. I guess I'm late to the party, I'm about half way through it right now.
  18. Keep telling yourself that!
  19. It's better because it's free. I'll play again, and come in last place so that even the worst players will look good.
  20. You were there and didn't let me know? You could have bought my lunch for me, since I work near there! I was actually going to drive past there at lunch time, but I didn't.
  21. A couple people on here live out that way. There are some nice roads out around there. Are you looking for a current conditions report, or just a general opinion of the road?
  22. Only those that have bikes to ride count in this.
  23. I'm on Schrock, just west of Cleveland. A few of us have talked about getting together a weekly lunch thing, we'll have to get the ball a rollin' on it! I will be riding pretty much any day that the low is above about 38, and that it's not going to rain on the way in to work!
