  1. My opinion, a couple decent quality stereo receivers, one to each pair of speakers, and all will be good. Should be pretty cheap. Best Buy has a Sony for $155 that woudl do well, although it's only 200w.
  2. No, you didn't fix a thing. Wire that is too small WILL heat up. Where the MAY heat up comes in is with how much too small the wire is. Try running a 500 watt amp with 18ga speaker wire for the power input. This is 12v stuff that I'm talking about. 12ga wire for the same amp will probably be ok, but still should have 8ga, at least. Also, fine stranded wire is better, because the electons supposedly travel on the outside of the strand, and finer stands give more room for them to flow. This is all theory, I use the recommended wire, since I'm not a EE.
  3. Maybe it would be a good idea to try something different? What I have been looking at is different than what I'm doing now. If I wanted a job doing what I do now, there are MANY job openings out there.
  4. Then quit using it! Buh-bye! Seriously though, the internet, or employment agencies seem like about the only way to get into somewhere, with the exception of knowing someone at the place. Did you get many interviews out of posting on the internet? I've had a couple, within a week.
  5. Uh, no. I've hear maybe 20 minutes of him all year, when he's on the radio of the car that I'm pulling into the shop. The hope I have is not from the government. The jobs that are available, look on monster, careerbuilder, even craigslist.org/trd, and be willing to settle for something lesser while you keep looking. There are lots of jobs out there!
  6. Hope... and change... The only change I have gotten is the dollars in my pocket have turned into CHANGE!!! The thing that bothers me is that people act like there are no jobs out there. There are jobs out there, too many people are afraid to step out into something different, to take a pay cut to get future advancement above and beyond what they have had in the past.
  7. The only way to go for me!
  8. In a car audio environment, the power wire should be oversized if anything, due to the fact that the wire is usually ran under carpet, seats, etc. Smaller wire WILL heat up under high current loads, thus being a safety concern. My current system is around 500 watts with 8 ga. wire. I would be more comfortable with 4 ga. but it is more of the family ride, and the system doesn't get loud very often, therefore, the actual current draw is low, 90% of the time. It's very rare that the thing get played at over 50%.
  9. Jobs are out there! Just look for them, and be willing to work!

  11. You HAVE to rape, that's the only way you ever get any!
  12. So does your wife, but she settled for you! Where have you guys been? It's about time some of the DTC trash talk made it's way back!
  13. I don't name my vehicles. Hell, I barely even name my pets! My cat was just known as kitty for the longest time!
  14. I think it means it takes him 40 minutes to get ready to mount!
  15. Funny thing though, I hardly ride that bike anymore. The 500's been running pretty good. (Knock on wood.)
  16. He even named it, with a girl's name! Pot, meet kettle.
  17. You sir, are annoying. You're typing cat is cool, though.
  18. I don't like it. Do I at least get a reacharound?
  19. Yeah, I wasn't thinking. I was comparing to system I had in my Camaro (that got ripped off) which had a class D amp for the subs, and a couple smaller amps for the mids and highs. I was around 1000 watts, and could run it for a couple hours easy, without starting the car, on a group 78 battery, which I think was 800-1000 cca's. I miss that system, it was crazy loud, and clear.
  20. I have heard about this ross guy, but wow!
  21. Newbie. Good advice from a good guy! I have "let the smoke out" of a couple amps in my time! Magz, if you have your heart set on using a 12v solution, there are options. I would pick up a couple deep-cycle batteries, and a small charger for your power supply. You would want to turn off the charger when using the system, to prevent humming in the speakers.

    coshocton ride

QFT!!! I was out toward the Coshocton area, but it was later, I got home just around dark. About the best riding I did today was 715 & 79. I wasn't feeling it, until I got out and started riding, then it was getting too late to hit much else.
