  1. the difference is... Tiger IS golf. Vick was just another good football player.

Half of their brand revolves around tiger, you can't just replace him over night... so you stick with him and hope to cash in on the rebound.

When Tiger had his knee surgery (I think that's what it was, I don't pay much attention) and was out for a while before, golf tournament viewership numbers were down by 50% or more.

  2. One more thing, Jcroz: Many people say to put sta-bil in it, some say not to bother. The argument most make against it is true, which is that for the few months you have it put away, the fuel's not going to degrade enough to cause problems. That's my experience, anyway. One thing to consider though is what happens if you get injured, and can't ride the bike until say.... September? Or the following year? NOW we're into issues, if you don't get sta-bil into it. I'm banking on being able to ride it in mid to late March, so I'm probably going to forego the sta-bil, and just make sure I have a full tank. I can use the need to fill the tank on the Ninja as an excuse to get all my gear back out next week!

For the oil change, I think I'm going to wait until I get the bikes back out, and put a few easy miles on them (couple hundred each, or so) before I change the oil. That way, any moisture will get evaporated, or "mixed" into the oil, and drained out. I know oil and water don't mix, but water will get suspended in oil when mixed up in a crankcase, but separate to the bottom after sitting. Of course, it all depends on how much work I do to the bikes. I already have th evalve covers off the Hon-duh, and I have to do starter clutch work on the Neenjerrrr...

  3. That's where mine and Jporters is. It stays roughly 55-60 degrees in there. But like I said, since mine is getting torn apart, I'm not doing much of that stuff this year. I should put a rag in the tail pipe though, that can't hurt.

Oh yeah, I love it, too! Get done with work, and feel like working on the bike, it's right there! I still haven't decided how far I'm gonna go on mine this year. I would LIKE to rebiuld the engine, strip it down to the frame and repaint the frame and the fairings.

  4. Priced a new ram module @ microcenter' date=' can get a PNY stick for only $20, so I'll pick one up this week and stick it in there see what happens.

Just glad to have the pc working again, and with a fresh install its like getting a brand new one, yay :D[/quote']

I woudl LOVE to do a fresh install on the laptop, I just have too much stuff on it, and don't have it organized well enough at the moment.

  5. I really like Tennesee, but I don't belive I would care for the snow driving in the mountains. I think georgia would be nice, also. Its warm. its not far from good riding, but my jobs here. SO i am staying.

Personally, I don't think a JOB all by itself is much of a reason to stay somewhere, or even to move somewhere. That might be just me, though.

  6. probably but i youve never done a timing belt it is very easy to mess up and blow your engine. and jporter that zetec tool from mac is like 20 bucks. it has the bar that slides and holds the cams in place and a bolt that runs in on the bottom right and holds the crank from spinning.

Ah, ok. I already have the bar to hold the cams from a set that we had bought when we did our first SOHC 4.0, I think. Really, any piece of flat stock close to the same thickness works, and ironically, that's something you need on a VW TDI! The special tool that they list on the newer onesis different, but the flat bar will work. On the TDI, you just need to use a feeler gauge to take up the space so that the cam will be just right. Most of the time, I just leave the pulley intact and don't need to be exact, as the belt will pullit back into alignment. The injection pump takes a pin tool to align it, but I find a drill bit that's the right diameter instead of the special tool. Wow, all this is coming from memory, other than verifying that the newer ones use the same tools as the mid to late 90's cars!

  7. On a side note, did you notice how there's a distinct lack of "JCroz bashing" going on in this thread? Ask a question, listen to the responses, don't argue repeatedly, and people will be helpful. :)

Amazing, isn't it? I'm kinda missing the bashing, I might have to go bump one of his threads back to the top....

Most, if not all of us on here have done stupid things at some point in our lives.

    Not me! Not even once!

  8. Sorry to take this off topic, and get serious, but I was reading, or heard somethingt the other day talking about burn-in on flat screens, they were saying that burn-in on most of the newer panels is not very likely, and that only the early plasma's had issues with it, and weren't that bad about it anyway.

  9. I think it looks hideous. But aparently that's just me? I'm not a big fan of flashy stuff though.

While I don't care for it personally, I TOTALLY respect the work that went into making it look the way it does!

We had a customer bring in a partially assembled Cobra kit a few years ago, for us to complete. It turned out AWESOME! They decided they want it black, with no stripes. The 5.0 EFI engine was NOT stock, it was a fun ride, but not something that I would own, although I really enjoy working on that sort of stuff!

The kit was from Factory Five, which I've been told is one of the better Cobra kit car companies out there.

  10. With aftermarket parts, it's all about the supplier. The water pumps we install at the shop are always NEW, unless the custmoer spcifies reman, and they're from ASC industries. They are an OE supplier to some companies, and the quality has alwasys been top-notch for us, with the exception of the one that came in without a gasket last week, and ended in a fiasco, but that wasn't their fault that someone had opened it and lifted the gaskets out of it....
