  1. Very cool! Maybe I'll have to get some advice from ya. I've been doing some research on CNCZone and such but there's always more you can learn!

    Aaron

I'll have to warn, I haven't done any of it for a while, but I think I can still remember it all! The routers that I worked on were slightly different than standard g-code, but it was really close. Most of the differences had to do with the fact that each router had 4 pairs of axes, all running at the same time. It was fun stuff! Had to time it right to keep them from hitting each other, and so that all of them ended before the longest cut, all sorts of stuff that went into it! Then throw in the fact that we were cutting polycarbonate plastic, which is really hard, and somewhat brittle, that was about .060 - .080 in thick on the average! ''

Anyway, when doing machining, the mills that I used the most were "conversational" controllers, which don't use g-code, and are pretty easy to program.

  2. Nice. But...all your waiting on is the trans to be fixed...and it's driveable? Fix that thing and get it rolling! Your letting 430 hp...just go to waste man. :D

Eh, I drive it a little bit. Maybe 25-30 miles this year... Really, the big thing is getting rid of the carburetor, I don't want to put any more into it knowing that I'm going to EFI. It still has the original (modified) computer controlled Q-jet, and it's just not running right at full throttle. I dunno, I just thought about messing around with an identical parts carb I have on my bench to see what I can do with it. Again, laziness. Well, I DID have the bike bug hit me this year, also!

  3. What engine are you putting in it? Was it originally an auto, or stick?

It's pretty much a ZZ430. 350, .030 overbore, LT4 Hot cam, 1.6 full roller rockers, GM Fastburn Aluminum heads. GM's limited edition crate motor of this combo made 430HP, 430 Torque. They only made a few hundred, I think. It has a 700R4 Auto in it now. I've just been too lazy to pull the trans back out and figure out what I did wrong. It has no second gear, and no engine braking in manual first gear. I could probably have it out, fixedand back in within a few hours.

  4. i thought about buying a benchtop mill/lathe. maybe i will continue through with the plans. Right now, I am doing a few things to my daily driver that I have wanted to do for awhile, but have not gotten around too.

Add vehicle maintenance to that list of my projects! You'd think that someone that works on cars for a living would be up on that stuff, but no! I've had parts sitting for both of our daily drivers for months!

  5. u can give me a taint rub as repayment later :)

That's a pretty cool idea! Question though, can you still use the connection on the computer without reconfiguring it, basically thinking you could use a media center box, bridge the connection to the 360, and use the net on both. Doubtful the connection would be getting much traffic from both at the same time, but wouldn't be much fun having to reconfigure it everytime you switched around.

  6. Update: I made contact with Aniket, he does appear to be working down the street from me. And he's working part time adjunct where I do! Small world. I'll try to walk/ride down and have lunch, they have better food anyway. I'm going to be suggesting that he bring the Enfield Musket to one of our Dyno Days for some pulls/charts. Fun, huh? Bring the cameras if it happens.

You never seem to amaze me with the topics that your knowledgable in, and the connections you have!

  7. Nice!

Indoor Football, school..if u call that a winter hobby  I'm picking up a mill and plan on making some parts for various things.

THAT is a cool idea. That's one BIG thing I miss about my old job. I made all sorts of stuff there! CNC Mill's, lathes, grinders, welders, pretty much anything needed! I actually built some CNC router machines.

  8. I had NO rep, but I did have a little street cred.... Just sayin'..

Hell, when I was 19, very few people knew what the internet was! AOL was just getting popular! And compuserve, and Prodigy! My first ISP account was with Netcom, I think.

Back in those days, it was all about partying, and working enough to support said partying.....

  9. Ohh yea? Well, how much rep did you have when you were 19, huh? I had way more rep than all of you when you were my age. :p

I don't have rep insurance though, so take it easy on mine.

  10. does the xbox have a wifi adapter built in or you need that adapter?

generally a wireless access point is just a wifi router

No wifi for the 360, just wired ethernet.

Not exactly. Wireless routers are router with a wireless access point built in. Basically, most of the plain access points will work in reverse, like the op needs

  11. From what I've read, the Linksys WAP54G can do what you want. I went the expensive route, twice! I have 2 TiVo's networked, both have usb to ethernet adapters, then one goes to a linksys "game adapter" which is around $100 (probably what you've looked at, or similar) and the other uses a Netgear WGPS606 wireless print server, that has a 4 port switch built in, connects the TiVo and the 360 that way, along with my USB printer, all wired to it, then wireless to the router.

There are other access points out there that work in what they call "bridge mode", which is what you need, a wired to wireless bridge. I've seen some for as low as like $25 or 30. If I get a minute, I'll lookup a couple for you.

  12. What's up with that Camaro in your avatar?

THAT's one of the projects that I need money for! It's time for some bodywork on it, and paint. I also have about half of the parts to put EFI on it (it's an 84, has a carb.) I spent about $4000 on the engine I built for it, about 6 or so years ago. I also would like to put a 6 speed transmission in it, since I keep failing at getting an automatic to work right in it (I rebuild transmissions sometimes as part of my job, and have rebuilt many of the same trasmission, but mine has never been right!)

Two of my other projects are in my avatar, as well. The Ninja 250 gets fresh paint, and the starter gearing fixed (started clutch, or something is broken) and the Interceptor needs new paint, and I would love to do a complete overhaul on the engine, but at least the timing chains need attention.

The next project is computer stuff, then home entertainment (TV, stereo, home theater, etc) and the list goes on from there....

  13. As shitty as it is... I'll have to temper the 'with pay' frustration with the fact that it's the policy of many companies to do that because if a lawsuit happens and the officer is acquitted, he can file suit for his back wages and then some... so it ends up cheaper in the long run to suspend these people WITH pay.

    Sad, but it's economics.

I get what you're saying there, but it makes little sense to me. If someone get acquitted, they need a procedure in place to make it a simple filing, maybe said wages should be held in escrow?

I see where the argument that driving is not a requirement for the job, BUT the use of one's judgement IS. This is not a simple case of speeding that went wrong, as much as it is a case of bad judgement causing 2 people to die.

  14. Xbox360....Not really, though.

I'm contemplating (sp?) finding a short-term part-time job to supplement our income, catch up on bills, and put some money towards the projects (there are too many that need money thrown at them!)

  15. my...my.....fellow thread hookers........I got busy.......but checked all of the thread.....lots of opinions and resources, ideas that's what I want out of a thread like this. You don't have to agree with me neither do I.....but that's how a debate should go....it's all good.....and just to remind everybody....."IT'S NEVER PERSONAL" from me......

Lastly my hats off and kudos to all and forget not that who by service or by policy trying to make the world a better and safer place.......

"That's enough of my drunky political speech"

A week later, and you're still drunk?
