Ugh... I'm not all that excited about Christmas until, say the week before. All the commercialism has ruined it for me.

I remember when I first started riding this year, Chevysoldier was following me, and told me I had better quit braking in turns, but I was actually just pulling the brake enough to turn on the lights to worn that I was slowing (with engine braking). That is after I had learned about why not to brake in turns (on here, I think) then later learned that the rear locking up = highside, front = lowside. Now I don't bother with tripping the lights, as I'm usually accelerating out of turns anyway!

An Electric Furnace....Even though its 100% Efficient.

Eeeww. Been there before! Aplace I used to live had forced air electric "heat". VERY expensive, and not very warm. The owner switched to propane to go with his heat pump, and the bills were MUCH less.

Ooo 40MPH is fast enough to be MUCH worse than you experienced from a highside.

Yeah, but what I'm referring to is how much our gubment has turned into little more than a popularity contest. Instead of being representative of the people want, they seem to govern by what the party wants, what will make the others in congress approve of me mentality.

Just about any study is going to lack, as there are too many variables to get it right from every angle, other than MAYBE the raw data, and you can pull what info you're looking for from that.

The most significat thing I saw was as I posted earlier, miles rode is up, vs. number of crashes, even though there are more crashes, the % is down.

I can't believe you got the heat pump junk. you'll freeze in the really cold winter. that's why I got rid of mine.

I went with a High Efficiency gas furnace. it's 94% efficient. I keep my place at around 70-73 and my highest bill in january for the gas was $60. and I also have a high efficiency gas water heater.

with a heat pump the colder it is, the less efficient they are and they'll run almost non stop in sub freezing temps.

That's why below a certain temp (I don't remember off the top) it's better to switch back to conventional heat. Each year, the newer models become better and better though, and that temp may be lower than before, as I'm sure the efficiency of the newer ones has improved quite a bit. Back in the day an 80% efficient furnace was "good" and today it's 90+, with I some getting around 95% (?) efficiency. Not sure the exact number on heat pumps, but I bet it's similar!
