  1. I've had too many people reply to me with that smiley lately... I think my sarcasm is at a high level lately......
  2. Why am I not surprised? jay/kay, mmmkay? (I think I should just put this disclaimer in my sig...)
  3. Only becasue they need 4x4 out here to get the kids to school in the winter. ALthough these days, they seem to cancel school for a few drops of rain....
  4. Yeah, she's cool though, only 10 years older than me, so we relate pretty well. I'm all for her getting a job somewhere cool like IP to get me some discounts! I won't even mention it though, unless the OP says they don't want it, I'd hate to nudge someone out of a cool job, besides, I think she wants something closer to home (Newark area)

  6. Just about any study is going to lack, as there are too many variables to get it right from every angle, other than MAYBE the raw data, and you can pull what info you're looking for from that. The most significat thing I saw was as I posted earlier, miles rode is up, vs. number of crashes, even though there are more crashes, the % is down.
  7. That's why below a certain temp (I don't remember off the top) it's better to switch back to conventional heat. Each year, the newer models become better and better though, and that temp may be lower than before, as I'm sure the efficiency of the newer ones has improved quite a bit. Back in the day an 80% efficient furnace was "good" and today it's 90+, with I some getting around 95% (?) efficiency. Not sure the exact number on heat pumps, but I bet it's similar!
  8. If the job's still open, and you decide not to go after it, let me know, my stepmom is looking for something like that.
  9. Umm hmmm.... SURE you are! Jay/kay mmmkay? Very nice of you to offer your assistance with women learning to ride bikes though...
  10. The winter lights is one thing the wife and I did the night we got married last Dec.! It was REALLY cold though, so not nearly as much enjoyment as it could've been.
  11. Exactly why I try to stay out of heavily trafficked areas. I have no fear of riding on the freeway, but if there's a back road that is less travelled, there are likely fewer opportunities to get involved in a crash, plus the roads are typically more fun to ride! A good example would be the route I take to Iron Pony. I take 62 to walnut rd in to New Albany, central college rd to sunbury rd, to dempsey to 3. It really doesn't take much longer (if any longer) than slabbing it down 161, and it's more relaxed, not as much looking over the shoulder for the idiots that don't know how to change lanes, etc.... that you get on 161.
  12. I know a coupls excellent machine shops in Licking county, but I don't know about any discount. All of them I know are pretty reasonable on price to begin with. Two of them, I don't know that they do any port and polish stuff, but the rest is good in the hood. Machine work is where you don't want to cut corners, and asking for a discount could lead to them rushing your work.
  13. Back to the original topic.. What should you do? Shoot yourself! jay/kay mmmkay?
  14. However sir, you are usually the exception to most of the rules.... At least the ones regarding the Zoo! Shouldn't you be on the other side of the bars and glass there?
  15. Why wouldn't they want to get rid of a POS? Sorrym but I just don't like Datsuns.
  16. And the Zoo is fun for the adult kids, too! WE need a trip out there sometime, I didn't even think of it though! My diversion from riding today was the fiasco of trying to get the wifes broken cell phone taken care of. I'm thinking I need to use it for target practice after this! First store was an hour waiting our turn, just to find out they can't do anything there, we had to go to Easton. Ugh. The good thing is that once we got into their queue, it was only a few minutes. Explained what the issue was (stuck camera button) they said come back in an hour. From there the guy says we have to order a new one, ship it here, or your billing address? Really, I wish they had let me do that over the phone last night, but NO, then I wouldn't get to see all the new ones, and give them the opportunity to make more money. /:rant:
  17. Right, because those are SO cheap to maintain and repair. And yes my friend, BMW's DO break.
  18. Go drive some stuff! You won't know until you drive it, whether you really like it.
  19. Very nice info indeed. The helmet question has be a bit baffled also, but the replies made here make it a bit more clear. It is reassuring to see that the fatalities and injuries per million road miles is down quite a bit, even though the raw numbers are up. When put into perspective, things are better out there. Even though more people are getting hurt, there are many more out there to be hurt, and over the course of more miles ridden. I find the time of day for deaths to be quite interesting as well.
  20. As a reference point, nobody actually taught me how to ride. I jumped on and went! That's just how I am, if it has wheels, I'm good to go! Had I been through some structured teaching of some sort, I would have been a better teacher. We both went through the BRC together (stayed away from each other during the class) and we both learned a lot. I'm sure I'll be teaching her a refresher next spring when we get to ride again.
