  1. I rode one, scary on pavement, and I'm not much of a dirt rider. My friend (owner of the shop where I work) bought one off CL, or ebay earlier this year, and it doesn't see the road, I don't think he even licensed it.
  2. I like Typing Cat's comment you have quoted in your sig! Some funny stuff from that typing cat there....
  3. Not that bored! Maybe I'll look at some of those sometime....
  4. TMI! We don't wanna know the true story that brough that comment to life.....
  5. Yes I did! Act like one, and I'll say it again! I used it IRL earlier today, too. I forget what it was about though.... I think it was about the parts delivery guys that bring stuff to us at work......
  6. No, that would be in an interns mouth!
  7. Fixed! I had a near incident in a parking lot at Easton Sunday. The lady looked at me as if she couldn't believe I pulled into that parking place, when she was trying to do the same thing to me! In hindsight, I was getting grumpy (who me? Never) and ready to get the whole cell phone incident over with (long story, but it was not resolved completely, and still isn't) and I WAS out of line, and not acting the way I should have been.
  8. A midrange hybrid is what I've seen called "DSLR-like" in many places. It's not just a "box", but it had a lens that protrudes. They have better lenses inside, and usually better photo sensors.
  9. My personal opinion, if you don't already know if you need (or could benefit from) a SLR, then you don't. I started with a film SLR, and didn't know what to do with it, and left it in "green box" or fully auto mode a LOT. One thing I DID utilize was the different focal lengths of the lenses. That IS an additional cost, however, and I have more in lenses than I do my camera (40D which I bought new in Feb, just before the baby arrived!) and that was moreso the case before with my Digital Rebel. After I got my D-SLR, I started learning (again) about what the different settings do (Shutter speed, aperature, ISO, and so on) and from then on, I can't remember the last time I used a camera in "Green Box" mode. There are many shots I have taken that would NOT have been any good had I been in Auto mode. www.dpreview.com is a good resource for comparing specs. When comparing brands against each other, you really need to get some hands on with them, as most people prefer one brande over the rest, for example, I have Canon, and can't see myself ever switching to anything else (partly because they are the best, and partly because of the investment I have in lenses!) If you go with Canon, check out www.photography-on-the.net/forum or actually, you can learn a lot about photography in general there, as most of the stuff isn't brand specific, just don't tell them you use Nikon if that's what you choose! There are MANY tutorials, and discussions about almost anything photo that you can think of! Another good resource is www.fredmiranda.com dame deal, except not brand specific.
  10. Nice job description! Put it on a resume, and you should be in with anyone!
  11. Are you on Sprint? Which droid phone did you get? I see 2 on Sprint. I have the last "iPhone Killer", the Instink. I'm looking to drop it like a bad transmission.
  12. Didn't look at the time that you posted TC, I guess I am too late. It would be hilarious if I look at TiVo and find it recorded (since I don't have Family Guy setup to record)
  13. NOOOOO.... What channel? Am I too late? It's always on youtube, and prolly fox.com on demand.
  14. From the sounds of things, grabbing rear brake, and letting out on the clutch while too hot into a turn, one of the two broke traction, but not by a lot, but enough to upset the bike once it regained traction. Just my observation from what he said in the OP. Definately some things to get me thinking in this thread. Another great thing about the OR community, learning from what others have experienced.
  15. Most of the time I've been too hot into a corner, I usually end up still grabbing some throttle on the way out! That's not to say that I'll enter as hot the next time, but just proof to me that the bike can do more than I have confidence to do. It doesn't help that my bike is 25 years old, and has the suspension to prove it!
  16. The bad part of that is you flat spot a tire like that.
  17. THAT's exactly right, if you lock the rear, keep it locked until you stop, or lay it down. That will avoid a highside. As I said, when the rear grabs back traction, and starts spinning again, it tries to get back straight and vertical, and THAT is what casuses the highside.
  18. Suck it up typing cat! The bike WILL do more than you will likely have the confidence to take it. There's a thread somewhere about corner entry confidence, take a look for it. It was a few months ago, I think. If you have to brake in a turn, you want to use the front, because if you lock it up (since being on the side of the tire, you'll have less traction) you will lowside. If the rear locks up, when it grabs traction again, instant highside. I know I've said this before, sounding like a broken record (does anyone even remember what those are?) but it's important to have this engrained into your mind. If you have to brake hard (such as to panic stop) try to upright the bike as best as you can.
  19. If you were down here, I know a couple local glass shops that are VERY inexpensive, and they do an excellent job. What kind of car, and which window? Front windshield?
  20. The OP is looking for something to put in a boat. Not saltwater, but stuff on a boat is considered marine, typically. Aquariums, saltwater is considered marine. I looke at those Soundsplinters, and their Premium line looke decent. The one that you linked to, the supreme looks like more bling than sing to me. I haven't heard either to know, just my impression from their site.
  21. In a marine environment, I would think a composite cone and rubber surround would hold up better over the long haul. (Just my opinion though)
  22. Oh, look below my name, Jagr....
  23. Man, the details are always scary to read about. Be strong dude. I hope you don't mind me saying it, but I hope that someone, somewhere learns a lesson from this.
