  1. Wow, you disappoint! I knew right away that he was talking about your comment about driving under the high-wheeled crop sprayer vehicle. I guess I just thought you had a better memory than that! (It's not like you've been through and accelerated program to learn a whole new career field or anything since you posted that )
  2. :plus1: I do have to say that you have the Mormon - polygamist relationship wrong, it's more that most polygamists are Mormon. Neither is right according to the Bible, which Mormonism claims to follow.
  3. Wow! You're just now hearing/reading about this?
  4. I heart you too (no homo) KK.
  5. I found out the day this was thread was started that I'm going to be installing a used 4.0l in a 2004 Grand Cherokee due to a noise (rod bearing.)
  6. I've tried them in the past, and they didn't have anywhere near the comfort I was looking for. Although what is comfortable for my feet may be different than your's, see below. :plus1: I also found out that either Red Wings fit totally different than the other shoes and boots I've had in the past, or my feet have grown. The Carolina's that they replaced were 9 1/2M, and the new boots are 11D, and they fit about the same.
  7. Interesting. I'm not sure how well it would actually work in a real world environment, and it appears as though there are a few design issues, although they may have them addressed, just not showing them.
  8. I just took the plunge and bought my first pair of Red Wing's. I opted for the made in the USA pair, over the almost $35 cheaper made in china pair that had the Vibram sole that Max Power was talking about. That Vibram sole did look better, and may have been a touch more comfortable right out of the box, but made in USA was a factor, and these just look better.
  9. Check the trip odometer for fuel usage, (need to stop to fill up if close to 180 miles), tires not flat, gear up and go. Every week or so, check the sight glass for oil level, chain tension, look over the tires, and check the lights. I usually lube the chain right after I get to work, once every week or two.
  10. Also, if it becomes a catastrophic failure (rod through the side of the block) a reman company probably won't give you credit for the core.
  11. I've noticed Symantec's anti-virus programs to be resource hogs. Back in the day, I loved Norton Utilities, and even their AV products were good, then they just became bloated pieces of crap. I've been running NOD32 for a few years now, and their AV product has been good for me. I think I've only had it find a few things in all that time, because I surf and download safely.
  12. Very expensive. Once it starts knocking, it usually ruins the crankshaft, and egg shapes the connecting rod. Engine basically need to come apart, crankshaft reground, or replaced, and the bad rod replaced. The engine should be completely disassembled and cleaned, because you now have metal shavings all through it. The oil pump should be replaced as insurance while it's open. You might be better off finding a lower mile used one, or a remanufactured engine. The other possibility would be a broken piston skirt, which would be pretty close to the same deal, nut would probably mean that the engine block is trashed. Sorry, but it doesn't sound like a good thing.
  13. It IS a new truck to him! I talked to my friend today, he sounds interested. He has a 98 Vette that could probably stand some dyno love, as well.
  14. "If we ride really fast that way, we can get past the rain..." "If we head that way, we're only X hours from the dragon..."
  15. I should have commented when I first saw this thread!
  16. Accuracy is not necessary, just somewhere in the same ball park would do. We just have too many people not paying attention, having NO consideration for the other motorists on the road around them.
  17. :plus1: I agree! If everybody wasn't so self-centered, and had a LITTLE consideration for their fellow motorists to begin with, this kind of legislation wouldn't even need to be considered. I think I read something several years ago about there already being a law about impeding the flow of traffic, which I would think could be used right now. Even if it would pass, I don't see many tickets being written for it, since people already panic and get out of the way when a LEO comes into sight.
  18. A 97 has a 5.7 in it, unless it's had a swap done on it. I'm sure Brian can work some pretty awesome magic on it anyway!
  19. What can be expected for a 2500 with a 6.0 in it? Similar MPG and power increase and I may be able to talk a friend into bring his Suburban over.
  20. Drill and tap it. If necessary, drill to a larger size and use a thread insert. MOST of the time, it's on the customer, or the shop may discount it. Where is it my fault as a tech that it's corroded? I try as hard as I can to avoid breaking bolts, because that's not really fun work, but if it happens, I didn't build it (or design), I didn't buy it, and I didn't break it (the problem that it was coming apart for) but I can fix it! Honestly, if a shop doesn't want to pay a guy for work, something that's not really his fault, I wouldn't stay there very long! If it's my fault that the bolt broke, then I take the hit.
  21. Kia is a lot better than they used to be! I hope the QC on the cars is better than on the website though!
  22. It's too quiet in here for the off-season...
  23. It's just bragging that they have a certain device.
