  1. Interesting, Koch brothers... Which may be how you see it but the GOP seems to differ with your opinion of their opinion. Seems they are upset with the Tea Party if I am to believe the press. Ok, you have me there, can we believe the mainstream media? Good question. So which do you see as subsets of the Democratic party?
  2. References or not, still looks to be some worthwhile info on the site. Bookmarked for spring, it's only seems like forever away.
  3. Sounds like good advice. Of all the political parties out there in USA politics only three are represented by any real numbers. Democrats, Republicans and Tea Partiers. The rest have a representative or two but that is it. This would include the Libertarian Party, The Communist party, The Green Party etc. Oddly enough Republicans and Democrats both seem to assign some pretty strange ideals to the Tea Partiers. Unlike most of the other "Political Action" type of movements they are not supported by either of the two major parties and of course don't get any funding from them. Of all the political parties out there the Obama administration is waging war on only one, The Tea party. This would be evidenced by the IRS tactics used to suppress their activities. Both parties have tried to take over the movement as well. Which has resulted in a splinter groups such as "The Tea Party Express". Splinter groups or not one thing that they all share is the Democrats and the Republicans don't like them. Maybe that is the thing to look for in the next election because more of the same thing doesn't seem to be working.
  4. I think you might be onto something here. Great question.
  5. Umm, they lost 10 Billion, all at once. Sounds like a bad call to me. Perhaps their timing was off a touch. a 1.2% increase after the announcement? So it was flat before? Somebody is not telling the whole story here.....
  6. On a related note: GM doesn't owe $450 million in retiree benefits, U.S. judge rules(Reuters) - A federal judge said General Motors Co is not required to pay $450 million to cover medical benefits for retirees, in a defeat for the United Auto Workers union. In a 36-page decision, U.S. District Judge Avern Cohn in Detroit said on Tuesday that the current GM did not assume any obligation for the payment, which the automaker had contracted to make two years before its June 2009 bankruptcy filing. The payment had been part of a June 2007 contract between the old GM, its former Delphi Corp affiliate and the UAW. http://sg.news.yahoo.com/gm-doesn-39-t-owe-450-million-retiree-170823484--sector.html
  7. A good idea - for whom? From what point of view? From the governments point of view? From the shareholders point of view? From my point of view? Or from your point of view?
  8. I believe it was the telco act of 1976 which mandated surveillance be built into every switching system at the hardware level. No funny 'POPS' on the line. No hum or buzz.
  9. How can we factor in the government manipulation of the market? It would seem that that is what happened in it's most basic meaning. Any investor will tell you riding the daily ups and downs is for suckers, trends over time is the real winners. Not sure your market advice is sound.
  10. Which of course would include the equal opportunity to not enjoy the profits of the private company we just gave 10.5 Billion + dollars. Magley64 You are truly the master of thread jackers. You've already bashed conservatives, religion, called people out on Obamacare and your just getting warmed up. I am impressed!
  11. I'm not so sure about that. After all what they did do cost us 10.5 Billion and there are a lot of people they aren't taking into account. A lot of people still lost their jobs. More than a couple of people here on this board lost theirs as the suppliers shut down. We got hit pretty hard as the ripples spread through our local economy. Taxpayers picked up the unemployment benefits for them and others in other States which also got hit. The stock holders got flat out robbed of an undisclosed sum of money. The retired workers lost some of their benefits. Certainly their healthcare is marginalized and will morph into Obamacare or medicare instead of what they were promised. Of course that is the other shoe to drop next year when the Obamacare company mandate is revealed. The majority of the bad debt was, as you point out moved into another company that is still dragging the taxpayers down. But even so, after trying to get past the spin doctors in the article I have to notice that GM added 3,000 jobs and 8.8 billion in facilities for a measly 10.5 Billion taxpayer loss. 1.7 Billion for 3,000 jobs? The now private company gets 8.8 Billion in facilities? Something about the math doesn't sound right here. Again, I have to ask, can I have my money back? Or at least a couple of free cars? After all, looks like we paid for them and will continue to in the future.
  12. http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/u-s-sells-all-its-gm-shares-taking-10b-loss-1.2457352 And this is a win for the US government how? More importantly a win for the US taxpayer, how? How about those shareholders? The pensioners? I'm not a financial genius but this story doesn't seem much like a win for anybody except GM. At your and my expense it would seem. They invested 8.8 billion in facilities? Can I have my money back?
  13. Mr. Rogers doesn't care as he died in 2003. It was more of a sarcastic comment on how things seem to be going. As in you are assuming that the ACA was supposed to work in the first place. Things make a lot more sense if you assume it wasn't supposed to work. But instead was to be a 'transition phase' into single payer. <Queue Magley in 1 2 3...> You clean up pretty well! Must be kinda weird sitting in on the hearings. Living the government as it were rather than reading about it.
  14. A kernel called fun.co, um you might want to look into that. Doesn't sound quite right.
  15. Here is a thread about the Roku box and some other options. http://ohioriders.net/index.php?/topic/103203-roku23-vs-cable/?hl=roku VPN will stop that. Not that difficult to set up. Or you can get an "Off the shelf" version for little cash. Like this one https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/pages/buy-vpn/
  16. Rather it proves the original point of without data there is nothing to report. If you used a utility bill as proof of eligibility there is no record at all. Are you a citizen? Are you registered to vote? Are you a felon not entitled to vote? There is no way of knowing. The rather long listing does prove that people will try to cheat the system. Granted these are just the ones that got caught, there could be others. I never did get the argument that voter registration was racist. Unless all non-eligible people are of the same race which does seem to be a little far fetched. Or perhaps the argument is that Mexican nationals can't vote is racist against them.
  17. Started seeing a lot of these kinda ads lately. Bikes, cars, etc. Kinda reminds me of the Fondue pots for Nambia skit on SNL Annd your check is in the mail...
  18. Also think it might have something to do with the fact we are always watching for some crazy moves from other drivers. That and "Biker ESP" as in "I just know that douche is going to change lanes without signaling.....3, 2, 1, yep!"
