can you imagine the cost of auto insurance if say state farm was "forced" to take on all DUI drivers and vehicular manslaughters. Our rates would go through the roof! and eventually that insurance company would go out of business. If fannie mae and freddie mac were forced to give loans to the "less fortunate" who were trying to live outside their means... and it lead to the housing collapse... How can we expect to do the same thing to the insurance companies (with pre-existing conditions - an investment they're guaranteed to lose money on) and somehow expect a different result? Cheers to the next big financial collapse in America!

how does everyone feel about the tax increase that will be RETROACTIVE for 2009 and effective for 2010... I think the difference with smaller european countries and places like Israel is... they don't have a large enough of a population to provide an effective military (to ensure their sovereignty) without requiring a mandatory service. I also think as a result of the mandatory service you get people that have a greater appreciation for their country. I knew a Norwegian and an Israeli that both liked the idea of a mandatory service and enjoyed serving their country.

I've never dealt with this situation, but I would also email the department head regarding the poor judgement on the professor's part. I had a few friends who would escalate issues to dept. heads and they would appease the student just to resolve the conflict (usually grading discrepancies). I would just make sure you're not taking any more classes with that professor and if its a professor within your major... be careful about burning bridges because profs talk to eachother.

I don't know if anyone listens to Opie and Anthony... but this is a homeless guy they pulled off the street to promote an upcoming show and through talking they found out he use to write songs and was trying to pursue a music career before he hit rock bottom. the difference is... Tiger IS golf. Vick was just another good football player. Half of their brand revolves around tiger, you can't just replace him over night... so you stick with him and hope to cash in on the rebound.
