  1. The air filter of a dirt bike is oiled to make it sticky. If it has mud caked on it you will need to clean and reoil it. As for the bike not starting does it has a hot start choke and cold? Did you shut the fuel off after riding? There are many little things that can cause dirt bike issues in general.
  2. Learning to fall is part of it all. I looked and Pike forest doesn't close till Nov 30th so you have two weekends to go play down there. Don't forget to get a trail sticker though, Pike is patrolled daily.
  3. Seems that if a judge deflects or manipulates facts to make a political statement they should be removed from the bench otherwise we waste the time and money of the courts to indulge self interested judges with political agendas.
  4. Your in Marysville and got a dirt bike? At least tell me you have some land to ride on. Otherwise it will be a long winter looking at the bike thinking about why you got it.
  5. It's Okay I have banned/boycoted the following items: 1. Gay pride flag 2. Obama Campaign stickers 3. Any flag with green on it 4. cable TV 5. All talk shows on TV and Radio 6. All Tv show hosts who don't rely on comedy to relay information 7. Politicians who feel the American public needs more government control to help save our money, protect our health or make our decisions for us.
  6. We need a KTM adventure size, KLR priced, V-strom reliability vehicle. Besides Honda can't make a Byron proof bike yet so I give them a fail.
  7. For some bikes it might be as little as ever 500 miles, it depends on the engine and type of use. My 426 needs it every 300 - 500 miles but with full synthetic my strom can go 4000 miles.
  8. Too many tech tips are bike specific or style oriented to be generalized for all bikes. But here's an easy one, lube the cables regularly to avoid binding or corrosion. A $6 cable lube tool makes it so easy. Also remember to change out the break fluid to avoid debris build up in the lines or cylinders.
  9. I already have a Tron bike, It's called a V-strom. Well sort of:
  10. Too true. Insurance rates vary a lot by demographics and location.
  11. More than likely you can thank the National Insurance "Institute" report of 08-09'. I had the same thing happen to me with my V-strom. Price went up over $200 per year because of the list of "supersport bikes" it released. Article from AMA below....
  12. Well, the State forest and Wayne riding areas are soon to close till Spring. Unfortunately dirt bikes have earned the bad egg rep in most areas. Even privately owned lands are restricting dirt bike riding due to noise, soil erosion and liability issues. This is why dual sport bikes are becoming so popular in Ohio. SE Ohio has loads on unimproved roads, abandoned roads and trails that are public but require a street legal to ride them.
  13. Too many. Kaw, Suz, KTM, and Two Yama's When prices get better I think two fo those will go up for sale.
  14. More exactly it should only be tight when the suspension is fully compressed.
  15. I've had good luck with just regular rain x on the inside.
  16. Better there than in downtown Columbus. I watched a cruiser pull up to a light and forget to put a foot down in West Jefferson. No injury other than his pride.
  17. Carrying a pair of tire spoons has saved me numerous times on the road and on the trail where changing out the tube was necessary or even patching the tube. Learning to change your own tire is also key since it allows you to ensure you have the right wrenches and tools to remove the wheel. Zip ties are also an invaluable item to carry especially if your ride has a lot of body panels.
  18. It was voted down by the mexican drug cartel living in Cali. They'd loose too much money if it had passed and since there are no jobs most people now work for or against them. How ironic is it that police and the drug cartel agree 100% that legal marry J is a bad thing? From another angle the vote resulted in snack food stocks dropping.
  19. Those look more like seat covers.
  20. At this point I'd be happy if government just became a dead duck for the next two years. Honestly, I think our society needs a chance to catch our breath and figure out what the rules really are before we can move ahead. Throwing policy at the wall to see what sticks is bad government.
  21. I was surprised to see helmets at the local advanced auto yesterday. Of course their selection of synthetic motorcycle oil was near nil. I still laugh every time I think about Walmart selling caskets. Combine "the people of Walmart" with that fact and you'll see why.
