  1. I saw this on the news, what a bunch of total nut jobs.
  2. For dual sport riding the heated grips are great and the addition of ATV covers like these makes high speed riding for long distances possible. These are the best covers I've found for the price. About $30 at Iron Pony in the ATV area, Ducks unlimited brand, don't collapse when you pull your hands out like some others do.
  3. From what I can tell this was the last successfully taged location, so we can either revert to it as the current tag again or I'll simply post a new location if it isn't taged in the next few days.
  4. Kind of like riding 30 extra miles to save $.05/gallon on gas for a bike with a 3 gallon tank.
  5. maybe you should try under padding shorts? I just have a fat ass with built in cushioning.
  6. I have never been a Harley rider and probably never will. It is not really the bike but the riding style it encourages. Minimum gear and an I own this road attitude. Other than that I just enjoy dual sport bikes because they tend to be taller and more comfortable for someone my size.
  7. cheapest price = cheapest tube Probably Iron Pony bike master tubes.
  8. It's called greed. If you wave enough bling in front of people sooner or later a fish will bite. So who wants to buy a bike for $400? It will go 200 miles without hardly any gas, unless you ate chille before riding it. lol

    Ouch

Dude that looks really ugly. I can commiserate however with being off the bike. I got a plate and two screws in my ankle earlier this year. Hope your ouch heals faster and better than mine is. PS if they suggest taking anti clotting meds after surgery, take them no matter the cost.
  10. How about asking some people who've been in accidents with and without helmets? Having been in several on and off road, I have always had a helmet and in full gear. Till this year it has left me uninjured and even the accident I had this year that broke my leg, I had no road rash or other injuries! It is too late to wish you had a helmet, gloves, jacket, or proper pants on as you skid across the dirt or road leaving pieces of yourself behind as you go. Having said all this do I think it should be a law? No. Something our government will never admit is you can't regulate stupid, no matter how many laws you pass. lol After all we have very strict laws about drinking and driving, and every year people still die in alcohol related accidents because there are those who think the law doesn't apply to them or they arn't like those dangerous drunk drivers.
  11. is he planning to street race on the way to the track?
  12. If Franknstien wishes he may relocate the tag location if no one has taged it by the end of the day. Hopefully to a location which is easier to find or of greater interest.
  13. My 06' KLR would disagree. With the pre 08' klr it's all a matter of how you set the bike up and the size/skill of the rider. Someone coming off dirt bikes will find the klr power unimpressive. But if you know how to use the tractor like power and momentum the KLR can do things smaller dirt bikes can not. Plus it is a competent on road bike able to be riden 100+ miles trips far more comfortably than a DRZ. It all depends on the type of rider and type of riding you intend to do the most.
  14. Just my $.02 but a used KLR is about the perfect bike for the new to offroad/trail rider who still wants a usable road bike for 100mile + rides. I'm not as wild about the post 08' KLR due to excessive plastic on them waiting to be broken.
  15. Sorry my reply is a little slow, had a go down a few weeks ago and just got back out of the hospital. As for the new tag photo a file photo still requires a bike in the photo for two reasons. 1, proof that you actually have riden there. 2, to show that the location can be photographed with a bike. The file photo is just a way to help keep he game rolling so we are not waiting for the current holder to get a free weekend to ride out and post a new location. Afterall the whole idea is to get people out riding to new and fun locations.
  16. I've got a windshield that attaches to the handlebars for $40 in Craigs list. pics in add. http://columbus.craigslist.org/mcy/1665582659.html It would be good for someone who either has a cruiser of small DS that they just want to reduce the wind while riding. It's not fancy but is pretty tall and worked well on the KLR, I just don't need it on the bike anymore. I'll knock it down to $35 if you mention OR in your responce to the add.
  17. I'd love to trade my 40yo GF in on two 20yo's .
  18. Looks like I'll be out, to much going on around here with work and getting the bikes fixed up. Take photos and have fun.
  19. Sounds like they might of simply lowere the triple clamp on the front forks. Not an expert but if this is the case you'll need to probably put the bike on a lift to reset the forks to the proper height in the triple. Hope this helps.
  20. Never had a specific issue with asian drivers in OH. My favorite drivers in OH are the MF's with the cell phone in one hand and a Gormet coffee in the other (Male or Female and every race). OSU has always been a bad area because the roads were designed by idiots who's only concern was funneling all traffic into the Horse Shoe parking area. Even if that wasn't where they wanted to go. Of course the 20yo something hot girls walking down the street as distractions don't help either.
  21. I wondered who kept trying to slide into bed with me. Sorry if I kept you awake.
  22. I could so use a file photo for this. But that's not allowed, this was a tag I placed for the North AMerican Tag game a few weeks ago on ADV. So it's still game on, look forward to seeing someone in Nerk get this.
  23. I've taken the MSF class and am also teaching my GF to ride. It is not hard but you have to use the basic skills first. I look at it like martial arts, build a stong base and the rest of the skills will come easier. I spent last summer working on her low speed control, shifting, proper breaking, take offs up hill and leaning the bike. This Winter she got her learners and a new to her XT225. We were working on her shifting. Back and forth starting off and going to second, then back to first, turn around and do it again.
  24. I've been down a few times, not as many as Earache, but the locals always say visitors waste too much time with the Dragons Tail. There are so many other roads that are just as exciting and less travled. But here are some helmet cam videos I have of the area. As for weather, there is a reason they call them the Smoky Mountains. Take rain gear.
