  1. Yeah, Kevins little ride through the field to his house was fun and made for a nice addition to the route. Look forword to hooking up with them again for some more fun.
  2. As long as you avoid personal contact you can just be an interweb drag queen. You'll be so popular there'll be leg humpers filling the inbox every day.
  3. Now that your organized and enlightened............ You need more stuff!
  4. I'm thinking there's going to be a lot of bad days.
  5. No one has any right to criticize how another handles an emergency situation. After all it's not their ass on the seat and not their body that will bare the results of a miscalculation. If you walked away / survived you did the right thing. Hopefully you'll avoid the same circumstances next time and not have to face that situation again. As there have been a number of accidents recently on this forum and others I visit I'd ask everyone to avoid impairing your driving by being tired or drinking, wear the gear, stay alert and always try to be prepared for the unexpected. Every once in a while it's not a bad idea to find a parking lot or open piece of road and practice crash avoidance techniques. Things like emergency breaking, swerve drills, learning to ride a skid out if necessary (mostly for wet of slick pavement) can greatly increase the reaction time. Let's all make it to next year so we can continue to enjoy the riding.
  6. I just stand up when I get saddle sore or uncomfortable.

    Dogs

If you've ever had a dalmation puppy you wouldn't say that. Hyper, full of energy, want to play as hard as possible till they wear themselves stupid and pass out. My forarms used to look like I worked in a thorn patch from all the scratches and needle sharp teeth bites i'd get while playing. Only when they mature do they start to calm down, pay attention and enjoy naps.
  8. Every situation is different and requires on the fly judgement and action. I've been in three near misses and all of them required a different responce to avoid collision. A school of thought is that there is no accident a motorcycle can't avoid given the following. 1. control of the bike 2. awareness of your suroundings on all sides at all times 3. proper speed 4. proper breaking 5. proper maintance / setup of the bike to allow for peak performance and handeling In the end though the best you can do is always be prepared for the worst and remember the minuite you let your guard down the unthinkable can occure.

    Dogs

I know what you're going through because I've been there. Biggest thing is that they are both still young and learning. If you can stick it out they will calm down and gain the independance that you are probably used to with mature dogs. In the long run giving them away opens them up to a world that isn't going to necessarily be as good to them as you can be. Even the little time you give them is better than they might have otherwise. Remeber, there are lots of other dogs out there abused, mistreated, and underfeed that would chew their right paw off just to have a warm house and loving family for one day. My two definitly tie me down and make some long distance trips I'd like to do impossible. But as I've told friends and family, I'd rather be tied down to something I love than to free without that love.
  10. +1 Especially around Springfield, lots of older drivers who can't see the end of the hood let alone a motorcycle. But you picked two of the nicer areas around us to cruise through. Wish I had hi speed so I could see the vids.
  11. So you won't be doing any long distance touring?
  12. Sounds like that would be painfull after a while? :???:
  13. Best place for lunch near IP if you like Greek food in Yannis (sp?). $6 will get you a gyro so big you'll need highway pegs on the sport bike!
  14. So that was YOU who was shooting at us from the back yard across the RR bed! PS thanks for stopping to let us pass or taking a long time to reload. Hope that clay pigeon soup was good.
  15. It's one thing to do 800 miles on a nice straight highway with only gas stops to slow you down. It's another thing to do it on curvy roads with small towns posting 35mph and stop light that don't change for bikes. What I'd really like to do is a gravel/dirt/paved mix from Tar Hollow off 56 all the way out into PA/WV and back. It would definitly require some mapping and gps route work to make it challenging but also avoid closed or gated roads.
  16. Yeah, got to pull yourself away from the X-box sometime. That new bike isn't going to ride itself out on the trails.
  17. Technically after 48 hours he should show no signs of blood alcohol. Had he recently used cough medicine or any type of throat losenger? Was the test done by blood draw or breathalizer? Blood tests are more accurate but he could still ask to see the calibration curve used for the annalysis if he fights it in court.
  18. Yes, one meets down stairs and the other is somewhere up stairs.
  19. Wow, $5 gift card will get you a couple stickers to but on your bike and tell people how you really feel.
  20. Tech day at your place. I call the comfy seat!
  21. Sounds like God was busy trying to keep the bike from reconnecting with him.
  22. It kills me to hear these sorts of stories. I am deeply sorry for your loss and pray that you and the family can find peace. RIP
  23. Glad your okay and hope the damage to the bike is repairable. Man, give you guys a couple nice days in November and see what happens.
