  1. Don't get too sensitive about generalizations. I'm sure we have all riden with guys on cruisers who drive them like they stole them. For me it's my friend in North Lewisburg who runs his Intruder 1400 like a raped date thru the twisties even. The annoying part is getting behind someone on any bike or scooter who is unexperienced, making bad decisions, and slower than molasas in January. In my experience it's usualy a guy wearing a wife beater and cut off jeans with no protection beyond his sun glasses who now owns the road. If this is you, now you know how others feel and that we simply wanna get past you and enjoy the ride at our own speed so you can enjoy it at yours. Well, that and don't drink and drive.
  2. I'm waiting! Dam Federal improvement funds are screwing with my dual sport riding. Can't we leave a couple roads unpaved?
  3. NO, it sucks, stay home! I've only been to Deals Gap twice. My first trip last year made me wonder why it got all the bad press. No one was there at all (see u-tube video). But as the vetrans pointed out to me, it had rained and it was before Killboy could even get there. Second time was this spring for the Tour De Tellico, mostly offroad stuff on the KLR (video of this too). I hope if I go again I will luck out and not experience the circus that Eric did or meet the super troopers with the endless ink pens. I figure if I wanna see bad riders and hopeless loosers on bikes I can go to Iron Poney bike night. (Do they still have that?)
  4. This is why I'm glad HDs don't go off road.
  5. Sorry your trip was so disappointing. Kind of like seeing a hord of 4 wheelers with beer coolers staped to them and riders in flip flops tearing up your favorite trail because they can. Why is it the dumb people breed faster? I wait for the day that the US switches to the european standard of beginners are only allowed up to 250cc's and then progress in size as they gain experience. But it will never happen because HD would have to close it's doors.
  6. Your bike is insured correct? After spending a night on a side street around Campus your engine problem might be someone elses engine problem now? If all else fails rent a uhaul truck with a loading ramp for half a day and get the bike back home.
  7. Since it is a new to me bike I've been going over it with my limited mechanical abilities. It has made a few hundred laps around the yard.
  8. Sorry I was busy hosting a DS ride in Tar Hollow. Still hopeing a new person will get out there and snag it. Game will suck if it's just ADV riders playing here.
  9. Well, I got the title for the KTM yesterday and hope to get plates and ins Monday. Green's Tea Room would make an excellent maiden voyage. (Wrong Smiley, dial up sucks)
  10. I'm glad you guys made it home safe and (almost as important) that you had a good time. This was the largest group ride I've ever lead with 18 riders of mixed ability doing sections of single track. I felt lucky we only got split up a few times. I hope we'll all be able to do many more rides together. *** Special thanks to Smiling John for taking on the thankless job of playing clean up! I owe you one big time my friend. Now some photos: Meeting up in Laurelville As usual Becky showed the guys what she is made of! I only caught one rider going down in a simple area. Lots of us were getting tired and started making errors. Speaking of errors sorry for the turn arounds due to GPS/ Luke error. Glad John knew the right way! I put too much stock in which way my GPS tells me to go. You guys were awsome on those little Honda 230s! And our KTM guests really showed their grit and skills. Love this view ;D And of course HC made it. Hope you enjoyed just being able to ride for a change HC. Thanks again to everyone who showed up and special thanks to those who helped keep me sane. : I'll try to get some video up in the next few days but I might need Crazy Johns video filter to stabilize some of the rear cam footage.
  11. I had electrical problems down in Tar Hollow last summer and of course I didn't have the right tools with me or on the bike. A guy driving an old beater down the trail was nice enough to stop and haul out a 50,000 piece socket set. Never did fing the short but I was able to bump start the KLR and run nonstop all the way home. I've relied on the kindness of many of my fellow dual sport riders to teach me how to work on my bikes and show me cool trails to ride. In return I've made a consious effort to help others who are new or have never had people like my friends to teach them. Makes me feel good when I can show them a new trick or technique for use in the shop or on the trail.
  12. There is normally space at the grocery store next doors. Otherwise there is a little park behind the gas station. If it gets too crazy I guess you can park at Tar Hollow like me and ride to the gas station.
  13. As all smokers know the quiting process takes time and will power.
  14. Well from an off road and dual sport point of view having your pipes too loud is reason to be kicked out on an event. Hearing an improperly muffled bike is like hearing those tunner cars that sound like a lawn mower on steroids, it's just annoying.
  15. More beer, lots more beer! and shots, 180 proof!
  16. I understand, I'm working on the bikes tomorrow and the Sunday I'm hosting a dual sport ride. On the Plus side Tuesday I have testing to do for a job I'm applying for. Did the phone interview today.
  17. +1 unless I tell you it's okay, don't sit on the machine. Because I might sit on you just to see how my 290lbs 6'4" ass fits. What's the movie phrase, "This will not be quick, you will not enjoy this, that was not your bike"!
  18. when you reach the white part it's your eyeball.
  19. Can I get an rulling on wheather this is a run on sentance or not?
  20. Oh shit my sides are killing me.
  21. I forsee the real issue getting lost here. Where's the free motorcycle?
  22. and trying to give folks the middle finger
