  1. Sounds like the snake isn't as dangerous as the people who are scared of snakes.
  2. That's odd, my DL1000 can outcorner a lot of sport bikes, or is it the riders I'm out cornering? It's skill, not the bike. A dirt bike rider with full nobbies can out corner an inexperienced rider on any bike. Sorry, just the difference between doing it and knowing how to do it right. Here's a almost stock KLR650 on a track with an experienced rider chasing a full on sport bike with an intermediate rider. Where is the KLR catching him? Yep, in the corners! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4zub8CRp1o And since you might not know what a KLR650 looks like see below.
  3. Yeah, the fort ancient curve is dangerous but we had a 4'10" girl do it on a CRF230 who'd only been riding 3 months. What is the big difference? She took the MSF class. Like I said, there is a MSF return rider class offered on Saturdays (1 day class) 4 hours class time 4 hours range. Since you've been riding for a while you'll be fine in it and it's only $25 and you use their bikes. They can teach you the basics to practice to make you a safer rider.
  4. I'm going to go with KTM-Brian here. Don't be "that guy". The one who ends up seriously hurt or hurts someone else and has to post up this summer how he really needs some help selling the bike because bills are piling up fast from doctors and lawyers. Take the MSF or if you've been riding for a while now take the Return rider MSF class. Lots of folks here can get you good information on Mid Ohio and probably other places that can save you a lot of hassle.
  5. Not to sound like a stick in the mud, but how about learning to corner at lower speeds before pushing your luck at higher speeds. May not be as fun but there are other people out there and they might take offense to your bike sliding into them. Better yet take it to a track where the pros can school you the right way so your not guessing if some "guy" really knows what he's talking about.

  12. Some of the AMA political battles goes against the interest of some riders. Like sound checks for off road riders. Some like their bikes loud and don't see the need to limit the noise at events. So for some it becomes a matter of not feeling properly represented. I used to dislike the support the AMA gave the HArley stigma of no gear, bad ass drunk pirate being the coolest rider. Since then I've seen the issue die (literally) as rider saftey became their greater concern. I've also liked the added support and representation that Dual Sport riding has received so it isn't just lumped in with the moto x rider crowd. I've had to use the road side assistance once for my car. Made the membership very worth while.
  13. I am a 9 year member now. I believe you have to sign up for years for the free road side unless things have changed. Plus I never pay to visit the museum. Discounts at bike bandit and other places also save $$$. The magazine has something interesting every once in a great while. Plus it is required to race and support on and off road riding. Win-win. The bad, it is pulled in so many directions often nothing seems to get done.
  14. Fellow Caveman sent me this one from 06'. I was there somewhere. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmVxAbc8-Bc

  16. Some might be wondering why I am dragging out all the old footage. Well I am transferring the video to a new storage unit and converting it to better formats. It is really fun to look back. These clips are from 2008 when ADV rider had BYOB in Ohio and the Cavemen decided to host some "real" off road stuff. By lunch we were all alone. Was it something we said? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CcYN9BGIfI
  17. Harley still the most efficient way to convert fuel into loud, arrest my ass for terrorism, noise so everyone can hate you as much as your family does. Ahh, the safety of a KLR650 which makes a simple chirping sound like George Jetsons car that everyone finds peaceful and totally ambiguous.
  18. Really disturbing, this is NOT the first time the driver of the pickup has been stopped for OMVI.
  19. Stop using the rear break as a foot rest. Also look at the rotor to make sure it's not warped and the pads are not f'd up.
  20. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzgI73gVH7M Old video from 2007 as a large group of dual sport riders did a ride by on the way to hit more trials. We were a crazy group.

  22. News reports seem to indicate the couple were long time riders and most likely fully endorsed and insured. More over one of them was a worker at Marryhaven assisting people with drug and alcohol addictions.
  23. About 12 miles of rail road bed that was once the site of the Lincoln Funeral Train as it went to Illinois. A little off road history. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_22OLJJibs
  24. +2 Only been to the one in Columbus but I left early just for that reason. I saw an updated report on channel 4 last nigh shoing part of the path of the pickup. This guy must have been blind ass drunk! Topo LakeNBC 4 7 minutes ago · So all the motorcyclists wanna know what is happening to the drunk who ran down the couple on 142 near London. We are all hopeful this gets the attention it needs to make drivers realize that we have the same right to the roads they do and how irresponsible drivers are to be held "FULLY" accountable for their actions! Like · NBC 4 Topo, He was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide. He has been jailed while the investigation continues. 3 minutes ago · Like
