  1. Thought I would bring this one back from the dead. I've begun running good bit. Okay, well, A couple 5ks a week. I've always been into bicycles, and in recent years, joined the spandex crowd on the road bike. I sold all of my motorcycles over the summer(minus the JR50) and have really focused on bicycles. I purchased an airborne goblin, and started riding all the local mountain bike trails I could find. This progressed into:" I need a new road bike" So after much research , I settled on a 2016 giant defy 1 disc. So I've been attempting to log 50 miles a week, via bicycle. One day around thanksgiving I really wanted a workout, but didn't have the time to go ride for a few hours. So i thought I'd try to run. I laced up my recently purchased new balances, warmed up, stretched and away I went. Upon leaving the house, I had it in my head I was going to try to run a 5k. I didn't care how long it took, I was doing it. My first 5k I managed to pull off in 30:39. I felt miserable, but the bug bit me. I wanted to go faster. In the following weeks I have mixed running/roadie/mountain bike and gate practice at the indoor Bmx track. I have continued to run weekly 5Ks and managed to shave some time off. My best time being 26:50. Now, the unexpected benefit to this running shenanigans, has been how much it has helped my cycling. My cruising pace on my roadie has increased from 16mph to 18-19 mph. BMX racing is pretty much a full on sprint with some jumps for 60-90 seconds. I feel much more explosive out the turns, and typically by the last turn, I was running out of gas, and now I am much more stable at this point. I believe I will continue on with this running business, and hope to run a few 5-10ks in the spring. Anyone else here use strava?
  2. I've been to this dealer and talked with the owner a good bit last winter one day. Super nice guy. He had a few left overs he was willing to make great deals on too. I've never seen so much stock in a small dealer. It was awesome.
  3. Sorry I couldn't meet up with you, and introduce you to some excellent local grub. You were less than a mile away from my house, but unfortunately, I wasn't available to meet up.
  4. Decided it was time for a change.
  5. Speed3s are rad, but no the regular 2010 mazda3 hatch, with the grand touring package was available with a 6 speed manual.
  6. ahh andy. I've been so hot and heavy over a mazda 3 hatch with the grand touring pack and manual trans( grand touring gets a 6 speed) its not even funny! Nice ride!
  7. You got it my friend. My last street ride, was chugging through infamous paully GA route. Started raining just on the other side of blood mountain, and rained all the way back to iron horse. Didn't make it to our cabin until 10 pm. War women road was a river. I already was getting to the point of being burnt out, and that ride was the icing on the cake.
  8. I've been married for a few years. Getting married had 0 to do with selling my bikes. I did far more track days, and road trips post marriage than I did pre marriage. I sold my bikes because I was bored. My schedule is not clear enough for me to do track days every weekend at this point, My schedule also is not clear enough for me to log 500 mile days on the street(which i was at the point where, I was having 0 fun street riding) to get to good roads. I've ridden and raced bicycles for years. There is a far better bicycle scene in this area with a ton of single track within an hour from here. My wife was far from happy when I made the decision to sell my bikes. She loves motorcycles, and loves to ride. I figured, with my lack of interest at the moment, there was no reason to let them sit here and rot. They are just material things. New bikes are made everyday. I will get another one of these days.
  9. If she's trying to control this aspect of life, as others have said, this is just the tip of the ice berg. I believe you need to take a step back and think about things.
  10. I have an old school pair of bates fast lane boots. Brand new. Size 9. I would pass them off to whomever wanted them for the price of shipping.
  11. I don't run any company, but we do our fair share of digging and dealing with buried utilities. blows my mind. In our instance, oups actually ate the repair cost. I couldn't believe it.
  12. Hit a medium pressure gas line a few years ago installing some tile on a job. Oups had marked the gas line, but they were 12 feet off. Huge fail. I lost a lot of faith in them over that.
  13. Not sure yet. I've got a laundry list of cars to go drive Mazda 3 Mazdaspeed 3(if I can find one that hasn't been "tuned" and played with) Civic Si sedan. 2006-2011. CT engineering makes a very nice supercharger option to get the car to 250-275hp. I also like the Subaru Legacy GTs and the Impreza hatchbacks but somthing about Subi scares me.
  14. This will be my next motorcycle. Stick some heli-bars on it, and its the perfect sport tourer for me. Unfortunately, the time is not right at the moment. Beautiful bike. good luck.
  15. the mustang is a real hoot. Its far more fun than it should be. It just isn't working out to commute to and from work and to haul the little one around quite like I expected. I'd also like something a bit more nimble with IRS.
  16. No subi isn't out of the question. Just the Subarus that I like wouldn't be an equal trade for the mustang, so I figure someone isn't going to trade me a 10k subaru for a 5500$ mustang.
  17. I have a 2001 ford mustang gt premium. Black with black leather with no rips or tears, 5 speed trans 121k on the odometer. Car runs and drives nice. Shifts smooth and clutch has good feel/doesn't slip. Power windows, locks,ac/heat, rear defrost all works as it should. I have this car listed on craigslist for 6k, but would give an OR discount of 5500. You can PM me, call me, text me, smoke signals, bat signal to get ahold of me . Nine 3 seven-5 seven 3-nine seven 2 six
  18. Things just got real. Oh snap.
  19. This is exactly what I was getting to say. I logged tons of miles on my fz1 as well as did some track days. Become friends with ivan. An ivans kit is the best way to make these bikes run smoothly. Mine never even needed the choke. Ever. Didn't matter what the temperature. Slight crack of the throttle, thumb the button and away she would go. One thing to check into is the second gear issue as mentioned. My fz1 had this issue. Worn dogs. the symptoms would never show itself until I was in the 7-9k RPM range. Once it would hit 7k, it would kick, as if the chain was skipping teeth. When I test rode my fz1, I never rode it hard. I recommend running it through its paces just to be sure. At the time, I ended up swapping a low mileage donor engine in, for less than the cost of parts to fix my 2nd gear problem. It was win win, as my bike had a large amount of track time prior to me getting it. I logged close to 30k on mine. If you have any questions just ask =)
