  1. Arrived at work in my joe rocket boots, textile overpants, dayglo textile jacket, armored gloves and helmet. In the elevator looking like someone colored The Stig in with a higlighter pen. Guy in the elevator; "You ride a bike?" "Nope, I'm Squiddy the Clown, going to a birthday party."
  2. Get a t-shirt with writing on the front... "If you can read this then my owner fell off."

Understood. Having said that, insurance follows the car and the officer has no basis to demand the insurance details of a car uninvolved in the wreck unless that car did something that would get it pulled over.

An uninsured driver can lose his or her license until ther accident debt is paid off (or a payment arrangement is made and kept current) if you ask for it. Did you have Uninsured Motorist coverage? I'm assuming you got the judgement, but did the courts manage to get any kind of payment from him?
  5. Pity it wasn't texas. He'd have been lassoed from the shore and dragged out whether he liked it or not.
  6. Where's #8? Or do I get my ass kicked just for asking?
  7. Good question. Should be easy to mount a small plate on the front. I'll take your concerns to my congressman. We'll call it "John's Law"
  8. Sure. Just tell them the guy in the house robbed a Krispy Kreme. Justice will be serverd. Sweet toasty justice.
  9. I am the status quo. You want change, YOU bring the evidence.
  10. This guy was ABLE to wade back to shore.
  11. I'll wait while you find and post it.
  12. Lose your job? How about lose your life? If a firefighter had drowned trying to save him then this story would be about how stupid the fire dept was to send them in. It's a no-win situation. Sorry and all that, but I have a family to take care of. You want to die? Fair enough - I'm not risking my life on the hunch that you're just kidding.
  13. F that. He'll have two choices, get on the back of the bike with me, or I'll drive him there in a tan Festiva with embarrasing music played really loud so all his friends can hear. And I'll put a vynil wrap on the car of the pic of him when he fell asleep on the potty at age 3.
  14. Nobody is jumping for joy. But we're not condemning the first responders either. You wouldn't expect a firefighter to run into a burning building without beign properly equipped, right? Why would you send him in the water without gear?
  15. I think it's too late for a mechanic's lien. You have 60 days to file for an automobile. It's abandoned. Talk to the BMV or Title Office about if you can claim it as your own. Otherwise remove the parts you put on and were not paid for, then leave the bike in his dad's driveway.
  16. Do you have a drunken story to tell about the hot tub thing? I don't agree that one plate is sufficient to allow for easy identification of vehicles. Just my opinion. I have no problem with the front plate and I would have no problem paying extra to buy the physical plate to close that 1.65m gap. Or remove them. I'm easy.
  17. Trying to classify the diffrerent objections that people have. For some it is financial, for some it's aesthetic. Some don't want to drill into their bumpers and some don't want the eeeeevil gubment to be able to know they exist. Financial: Use printed plastic plates insteads, front and back. Aesthetic: Rear plates are ugly too. What difference does it make? Drilling bumpers: You can get mounts that don't drill into the front of the bumper. And why do I see so many foreign front plates and non-license-plate lates there instead. So people are ok drilling their bumper to put a "In Memory of #3" 'license plate' but if the plate is issued by the state then suddnely it's a problem. Gubment: Sorry, but the general public has a safety interest in being able to track down cars that are involved in crimes. You're not going to get away from that.
  18. I'm sure it would have been different if the victim was innocent. And first responders know that putting themselves in a position where they need to be rescued themselves will not help the victim at all.
  19. AMEN! They like the power as much as we do! My boy is the coolest kid in his class. Strapping up his helmet and boots all nonchalantly. "What is that, Maggie? Oh this is just my motorbike gear. Yup, riding home on the motorbike today... "
  20. We can save another 1.65m by dropping rear plates too. If the money is the reason, then drop both.
