  1. I keep them loaded so I get one extra shot.
  2. Depends in where I am at the time. If I'm watching TV in my den and someone starts to kick in my door then the basement safe is closer and quicker to get to than the bedroom safe and I can get to it without being visible from the door. I keep them in a safe because I have a child, so leaving loaded guns around the house is baaad, m'kay? I can access each safe in just a few seconds, all keypads. Not gonna make a stand in the basement - no other way out. Plus there's no way to be sure my family will all be close enough to "gather" before the BG gets in, so my wife is trained in gun handling and shooting too. No matter where we are, we're always closer to a loaded gun than anyone who tries to kick the door is is to us.
  3. I should be out by then but there are other people gonna be around like firefighters etc. The pistols don't worry me too much as they probably wouldn't even pass through the wall of the safe, but the AR points up and is in the basement. Hopefully it won't get that hot down there. I could mitigate that risk by putting a sheet of 3/8 mild steel on top of the safe.
  4. I store my home defense guns in condition 1 (AR) or 2 (DA/SA pistols). In the event of a fire, could this be a hazard? I know that bullets that cook off in the heat won't hurt anyone, but the one in the chamber will go off like, well, like a shot.
  5. This idiot broke every damn rule in the book and an innocent child pays the price. Way to go, moron. When I put my pistols in the safe I make sure they are pointed in a safe direction as I store them loaded and I'm worried I might catch the trigger and discharging when I pick them up. Chances of that happening? About the same as the chances of me winning the lottery while I'm balls deep in Emma Watson... (In this case, safe direction means pointing directly towards an outside wall where there's nothing but miles of farmland, even if the bullet makes it out of the safe.)
  6. He was jaywalking in the middle of the night. He got a ticket. So what?
  7. Don't tempt me. The moobs weren't enough for you?
  8. Next time something like that happens try to record it on your smartphone, or carry a cheap voice recorder around. Powered but unused speakers can pick up signals from things like CBs. Same concept behind the "mobile phone buzz" or the "da-dit-dit-da" sounds that you hear from speakers near older cellphones. My blackberry did it all the time. I have some old iDen phones that make my pc speakers go nuts if the phone is nearby. Internet communications can do it but I've heard right before a call arrives. Whenever I heard the sounds I reach for my phone and most of the time there's something that needs my attention (call, sms etc). The conference room phones where I work have labels "no mobile phone buzz" which means they are shielded and tested ok to not get this effect. CDMA doesn't seems to do it. iDen, GPRS and EDGE seem to be the worst.
  9. It is spelled correctly. The OP is trying except himself from responsibility.
  10. I was not thinking that. But I am now.
  11. Seriously, you have to tell us who it was, and what they said that was such a turnoff, and... errr... what they could have done better...
  12. Is that a wistful "what if", or a Damoclean smack-down in the making?
  13. Keep it up NinjaChic. I'll fit in there nicely. I mean, you'll fit in here nicely.
  14. I remember waiting 15 minutes for a GIF to load. My first internet connection at home was a 2400 baud modem in 1994. I had been using the gateway from JANET (UK's Joint Academic NETwork) to the internet for a couple years before that at university.
  15. Who the heck puts a Himalaya-sized speed bump of a road that big??
  16. I suspect that wording is there - that's why they are an "unauthorized" subcontractor.
  17. Wasn't this an unauthorized subcontractor, though? I'd heard that Walmart contracted with one company, and that company subcontracted the bad factory without Walmart's knowledge or approval...
  18. Kent is just upset that nobody has asked to see HIS boobs.
