  1. You won't know just how much you miss year round riding until about the middle of February next year.
  2. It's April....over 18 months before the election...anyone that needs 18 months to tell me why they should be president is unfit for the job.
  3. If I'm by myself I'll leave around 9:00 so I should be down there around 11:00.I'll be running my usual route in that area...141>775>Hannan Trace>790>775>141>217 all the way to 7 turn around and head up 218 to Gallipolis .I really like that section of 217 between 218 and 7...I hope the winter wasn't to hard on it.
  4. I'll be out Sunday, but it's going to be a long ride,I'm heading down to Lawrence county to scout some roads for our upcoming FJR Ramble. It's probably going to be 5-6 hours from Zanesville. If your interested I can post the route I'll be taking.
  5. You're in luck....next year 658 is going to be resurfaced,hopefully pavement,not chipsealed. Check out ODOT's site...district 5 stip projects.
  6. Who cares,if you believe any of these fucks that run for president you are a complete moron and probably voted for George Bush. Have a good day.
  7. That's one sweet bike!!!
  8. You should be very thankful that Obama won the election.Republicans love to send other people's kids to war and put the bill on the tab. There's an easy fix for this thinking...when boots go on the ground the draft is immediately enacted,no deferments, and a tax is enacted to pay for the deployment.
  9. Who's at fault?Clearly,it's Obama's fault!
  10. When he pulls me over going 100+,I'm thinking earplugs are the least of my problems.
  11. Welcome to the buckeye state. What country are you from in Europe?I spent two years England and two years in Holland while in the Air Force back in the early eighties. It was a great experience ...I'd love to go back and do some riding, especially in the mountains.

    OH 555?

A lot of the the good roads we ride today were wagon roads, and before that trappers, and before that Indian trails. That's what makes it so fun riding here today...a lot of these roads were never intended for modern transportation. 555 probably was a road from Zamesville to the river, but it was probably used mostly by farmers and locals.60,or what used to be 88,would have been a much more direct, less demanding, commercial route to the river at Marietta.

    OH 555?

What's the scoop on this road? First of all,at a little over 70 miles from top to bottom 555 is very long as far as good SEO motorcycle roads go.I keep seeing 536 suggested over 555...536 is 11 miles long...apples to oranges. Another big consideration for me when it comes to what roads to ride is the condition of the road surface.555 crosses several rural counties and when it comes to paving it seems to be sectioned up along county lines,so I have never seen a top to bottom paving. If,and that's a mighty big if,the whole length was paved at the same time it might be the best long SEO motorcycle road.26 would definitely give it a run for its money under similar conditions.Of the other long rides...78 is out due to the long boring section east of 77,800 is out due to heavy traffic,145 might be in the running. But this is all fantasy because I doubt if you will ever see all of 555 in good condition at the same time. Back to reality,I usually ride the whole length of 555 once a year because it's something of a personal tradition, but I wouldn't include the whole length in any ride route. Most of the really good rides in SEO are comparable in length to 536,some where under twenty miles long.If you section 555 up in the typical length of most good roads there are a couple sections that might just make my top ten roads in SEO list.First would be the section from Bartlett to Little Hocking, especially near Cutler, second would be Portersville to about three miles south of Ringgold. When these areas have good pavement they are as fun as most anything in SEO.And since 555 cuts through a lot of good riding areas you can always link the good sections of 555 to other good roads that are in better condition than the rough sections of 555. BTW...the middle section of 555,from below Ringgold to Chesterhill is listed to be repaved in 2017.That should be interesting.
  14. A couple things you might want to consider...the later dates allow more time to clear the roads of salt, sand and cinders. If you're going East of I-77 fracking is keeping a lot of those roads pretty dirty.
  15. Everybody is less grumpy because Obama fixed everything that Bush and the republicans fucked up. That should get the haters grumpy again.
  16. One of the best things about being a Buckeyes fan is knowing how bad it pisses the haters off when WE win. Watching those sophs beat up on the Ducks last night makes me think you haters are in for some bad years ahead. Go Bucks!!!
  17. I see it now.The route that was loading on my phone showed 78>340>146 back to Zanesville.
  18. That route doesn't go past the Big Muskie bucket...that's near where 83 and 78 meet.
  19. Big congratulations to you and your wife!!!
  20. I'm not familiar with Zanesville. Maybe someone who is can make a suggestion. I do know Zanesville is large enough to have a big Walmart & at least one supermarket so finding a large parking lot for this well behaved crowd shouldn't be too hard. There is a Walmart and a Kmart in South Zanesville that would be a good meeting place. They share a parking lot with Bob Evans and Arby's.From that Walmart it's about eight miles to Crooksville and 669 which will take you to 377.The Walmart is located on SR 22.From I-70 just go south on SR 60 to SR 719 to SR 22 south. One possibility for a very good route... 669s>377s>550e>555n>676e>792n>266n>377n>669n>93n>22e to Walmart. The one caveat about this route...that section of 676 is Twisty, maybe not the best for newer riders, but there are options around 676.This route would be about 100-125 miles...mostly sweepers.
  21. "Stevens failed to protect Cameron while he was violently and repeatedly spanked..." "...the spanking caused layers of skin to be removed from the child's buttocks." This description brought tears to my eyes. How could anyone sit in that room and not help that kid? The sad thing is this is not an isolated incident...many of the ones that live through it become tomorrow's thugs and inmates. Shit parenting is destroying this country. Some kids never had a chance.
  22. The weatherman hit it pretty close today...it was 56 and sun peeking through the clouds as we were heading west on 676 leaving Marietta this afternoon.Probably not to many more days like this until March, but it sure felt good to get a couple hundred miles of good twisties in before the salt trucks hit the roads. Thanks for coming over Jacob,it's always fun riding with you.See you in the spring...if not sooner.
  23. That's a very nice bike for you're first bike.Be careful riding this time of year...watch out for sand/cinders/salt that they treat the roads with. As for picking up cornering speed...just take your time, look deep into the turn, get a comfortable speed, counter steer and roll on the throttle. Ride your own ride, don't let anyone push you to go faster. The FZ-07 is a great bike,if I didn't just buy a new bike last year I might have one in my garage.
