  1. It is the ARC course,I just checked.I must have misread the info.
  2. I just signed up for the 9/6 class.I understand from the site that they provide the bike...you don't use your own? See you there,Denny
  3. It looks like there's about a 50% chance of rain on Sunday...I'd really like to get out,but these roads aren't nearly as fun when wet. It's up to you...if you think we'll have dry roads I'm game.
  4. It is for a lot of people...it's too bad though, there are some very good roads down there!
  5. ^. Truer...I phone f-up,it should have been tryed. I might be up for a ride Sunday if you want to ride then.
  6. Do you take 550 all the way to Marietta?Have you ever truer 676? If you want to explore...here's a thought...377,550,555,676,cr6 Buchannon rd,339,821,530,60 to Marietta. If you haven't been on that section of 676 and 530 ...be prepared, they are VERY tight, twisty roads. The four or five miles of 530 might be the twistyest in SEO.That section of 676 would be a contender also. 676 is good all the way to Marietta, but the route above is even better.
  7. Sorry...I meant Sunday the 17th.I'm working six days a week...Sunday is my only day to ride other than commuting.
  8. 691 was paved in May of 2012,356 hasn't been paved for a few years unless it was done in the last month or so.I'll be down that way either tomorrow or next Sunday.
  9. I could see why you choose to ride the whole length of 775 and 790...they are both very good roads! I might be up for a ride on Sunday, the 16th.would you be interested in meeting in Zanesvllle and heading down that way? The route would look something like this... 669,377,792,676,555,550,33,691,356,50,32,689,325 into Galia county and hitting some of the good stuff in that area.
  10. If you get over there to ride 328 again you might want to check out 677.It's not as long as 328,but it's a fun way to get over to 278.it cuts out some of the not so fun parts of 50 and 278.very good road surface...probably paved in the last year or two. Did you guys get over to WV yet?
  11. I'm glad you liked them...did you get a chance to ride Hannon Trace from 775 to 790?
  12. I might do the one in September, but I hate to miss a 10 hour overtime day.
  13. I feel you're pain...it's exactly how I felt during the Bush years.at least Obama hasn't had 3000 Americans killed on our soil, two unfunded wars that killed over 6000 more Americans while also overseeing the worst financial collapse since the Great Depression. So buck up old buddy,it can always be worse...and not to long ago.And btw,who signed the law that created this present crisis?

    Left & Right

If you're looking for God in politics, good luck.politicians are the personification of Satan. It was religious and secular politicians that had Christ crucified. Nothing has changed, except maybe Satan leans a little more right these days.
  15. "Even if it means camping and riding solo..." That's two of my favorite things. Seneca Rocks is a good place to have a basecamp to explore the area.
  16. It shouldn't be restricted.I would link it,but my old way of cutting and pasting doesn't seem to work here anymore.

    Riders Down

I had one thought as I watched the video of your crash...Thank God nothing was coming the other way!!! I had a similar a crash back in 2003 and it still crosses my mind ocassionally when I see a fatal accident is that the only difference between that person and me is timing/luck/fate/grace...you pick. As someone else said...my two main concerns are animals and road debris. It can happen to anybody. Best wishs on a speedy, full recovery.
  19. Yes,it's the area just south of 60.You can cross the river at Montgomery or take 16 south from 60 to 19 south and pick up 61 at Oak Hill.19 and the 61 are pretty straight, but 61 gets good north of Kincaid...it gets really fun the closer you get to deep water. The last time I rode 61 I came in from I-77 on SR612,it's a lot more fun than the 19 route.I believe it's the Mossy Oak exit on 77.If you look on Google Maps there is a very twisty county road 1 at that exit...that's what I was shooting for...don't try it unless you have a dual sport!I made it to the first switchback and it turned to deep, large gage gravel. BTW,I was was just on 61 yesterday on my way home from the Floydfest music festival in Floyd,Virginia. My route out of Virginia...460>217>3>12>I81>60>16>19>61.Other good stuff on that route included 3 south/east of Alderson,60 north of Rainelle and 60 in the Hawk's Nest area. If you want more suggestions on southeast WV check out those FODS maps on th FJR site that I mentioned in an earlier post. They were made by a local rider that knows the area very well. Enjoy you're ride.
  20. We did a route down that way about a month ago that had some good twisty roads.the full route is over on rideohio under hillbilly hot dogs rte.Off the top of my head it was something like ...141>775>hannon trace>790>775>141>217>greasy ridge>775>217 217 from 141 to greasy ridge was paved last month and is twisty.217 from 218 to 7 is only about 5 miles,it's a. Very twisty ride.790 is a good ride as is 775 and 141 around the Wilgus and Lecta areas.Hannon Trace is is about as good as county roads get...newer pavement and it T's into 790 that also has very good pavement. 218 is also good ,the best part, south of Mercerville is chip/seal,good chip/seal but still chip/seal.
  21. JIS screwdrivers will solve that problem.
  22. I'd be happy to show you some of the good stuff southeast of Zanesville, but it would have to be on a Sunday...I'm working 6 days a week.It would also have to be near the middle of August because I'll be in Virginia this weekend and when I get back the '13 FJR is going in the shop for it's 26,000 mile service. I think I could put together a route that would satisfy your curvier the better criteria, either a loop from Zanesville to Marietta and back,or head south and end up a little east of Ironton. I see you're from Portsmouth...have you rode the good stuff over in Galia and Lawerence counties?
  23. As Far East as hocking...you're eliminating most of the best roads with that restriction.
  24. Hey Mary....definitely check out those 4 FODS maps...they are all in the area that you asked about and there are some very interesting looking roads there. It's post #11 on the first page of FODS Comes to southeast W.V.
