  1. Honestly, I wonder often if I shouldn't have bought a street R instead of the Speedy. The SOUND of those things all wound up is just music. Really, how much hp do you need? The torque on the 1050 is sometimes more of a liability. You have to be real careful with traction riding it hard.
  2. He said something about not getting blown around on the highway. The Stroms are not real good with wind. They tend to wander around, and there is a lot of turbulence. Not a good first choice for a highway bike.
  3. +1 the bandit is another good one.
  4. I'll probably go up a few teeth in back. I don't like the idea of too small a front sprocket... wears the chain out faster.
  5. honestly, if you're going 2 up, get the ST. If not, get the Viffer.
  6. yutt ughhh... I'll have to remember that. And to pull my Craigslist ad.
  7. The ST has more stability due to the massive weight (700+lbs with gas). It's main purpose for existing is going long distances on the highway. While I agree that the SPrint and the VFR and the FZ are better bikes, the ST fits the bill for what he wants to do in his price range, IMO.
  8. I've never really been a ford guy, until I noticed what they've done lately. I would really like to have a new Mustang.
  9. Well, generally you are right, for sure. But you have to give Ford a little credit. Would I ever buy another GM or a Chrysler? No friggin way! I've been burned too many times on those pieces.
  10. The ST is a pig. I've owned one. Hated it more than any other bike I owned. What are you looking to do with it?
  11. Ford has some of the best quality of any car on the road now. He's right... the stereotype has been broken.
  12. I know you're right, but it just seems wrong somehow to own a Speed Triple and not being able to wheelie it. I gotta try it.
  13. So , the idea is to load the suspension up, right?
  14. I just can't believe you haven't sold this. Such a nice bike, for what seems like a more than reasonable price. Wish I had the money for it.
  15. Sounds like good advice. I think part of the problem is getting the guts to launch it up to the balance point.
  16. Tried ^ that, and I can do it on a dip in the road, but it won't power up in second.
  17. I ride a Speed Triple, but have never gotten the hang of riding a wheelie. Just doesn't seem right. Anyone have any suggestions? In first, it will easily power wheelie, but it comes up quick. In second, it just doesn't have quite enough to get my fat (250 lb.) ass up without clutching it. How do I go about getting the feel for the balance point when it comes up so quick?
  18. Yeah... I dig the Anniversary edition. Wish I had waited one more year.
  19. Dances with Wolves The Shawshank Redemption Rounders The Book of Eli Gran Torino
  20. I'd love to, but my wife and daughter are going away for the day, and I'll be watching my son. I can't convince her to let him on the back yet (he's 5).
  21. My only time out on the track was at Beaverun (on a 650 V-strom, lol). I was in novice, just because it was my first time out. It was really frustrating, because guys on real sport bikes were holding me up in the turns, and if I passed them (which I wasn't technically supposed to do in the turns) they blew by me on the straights (65hp vs. 100+). I would say to go with the advanced class and stay on line like the others said. Then again, wtf do I know about it, lol. BTW, that track was REALLY fun.
  22. Yeah... I was going to post something about that on here! Definitely...have to ride soon. BTW, you were going the wrong direction. The fun roads are southeast, lol!
