  1. Basics - 1. First charge up the battery. Then go to Autozone and get it load tested. Sounding like its crap. Before going further and doing the rest of the tests, you need a rock solid battery. 2. You need a voltmeter - Crank it up. Check DC volts at idle, and 5000 rpm, across the battery terminals. Should be 13s at idle and 14s at 5000 rpm 3. Check Stator ------a. pull the connector apart that goes to the R/R, stator side. Usually the wires are yellow. Check resistance pin to pin. A to B, B to C, C to A -- should be less than 1.0 Ohms -------b. Check each pin: A to ground, B to ground, C to ground for continuity. Should be infinity. NO continuity. -------c. Check stator output. AC volts. Start bike. Pin A to B, B to C, C to A. Should 15ish at idle and rise into the 60s plus on each test. If you do these tests, you can get a data point on figuring out what parts are junk. GL
  2. I have used the Stop n Go tire plugger kit on 2 rear tires. One a cruiser, one on a sportbike. Ran them both till the tire was far gone. No problems, I would do it again. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCrRXYWm1Hg
  3. For 2K thats a great deal if the bike checks out.......
  4. LOL! Thanks for the laugh of the day.. -- That mr. mayhem has turned into a funny bit for allstate...
  5. Looks like theres a over the fender kit out there for you already.. http://spieglerusa.com/brakes/cycle-brake-line-kits.html
  6. I'm running spiegler on my VFR800. Mostly I just figured out line length, and what fittings I wanted and just showed up at their store. A very good way to go. - Nice that they are in my backyard too. http://spieglerusa.com/brakes/cycle-brake-line-kits.html Here's my over anal approach. I used a FZ1 brake manifold and mounted it at the lower triple with an angle bracket, and separated the lines into 3. I just wanted it to be neat, neat, and clean. - Did the job. - Used a pressure switch for the brake lights.
  7. Wow, sweet tire gauge. PM me three please.... Oh Analog too, please.... thxz

  10. Kudos to your for going for it on this cafe project. - I love a good build it thread. ...
  11. Suh -- weet! I've wanted one of those .....
  12. Just a follow up to this --- the final story is that a dude and GF went to a club, partied, got on their bike with no gear. GF was juiced enuff to fall off the back passenger seat onto the pavement. At this point the dude, while controlling the bike forward at 35ish mph, physically turns and looks to see about his GF. As he does this, he viers the bike into an oncoming SUV. Squish, squish, squid dead. ------- I dont remember about the GF except she was messed up and in the hospital, I think she survived. Not sure. RIP rider. Prayers around. ---- I just write this to say that there have been too many drunk rider deaths and crashes lately. Please, please, please use you head and be smart.
  13. Your kinda experiencing why I never really took to 600s. No grunt or midrange and you gotta revvvvv to get 'em moving. Great for the track, but more tempormental on the street. Sorta lead to my gravitating to VFRs. That R-6 is a peaky bitch and your gonna have to learn to rev the thing to get it off the line, and work that shift lever.
  14. My first thoughts --- valve clearances good? Intermitant clicking on top? Cam chain and tensioner for first check. (from a guy who hates cam chains)
  15. Been living with ATT DSL 6meg and gawd forbid if you need service. So RR is da bomb?
  16. That's a personal taste thing, sortta like I would like a sumo for a 3rd bike. For me though, my mainstream bikes for quite a while now have been 1 sporty type bike, and 1 cruiser. Adrenaline for one mood, laid back and lazy for the another mello mood. It covers a lot of the riding spectrum. Cant go wrong with 2 Hondas.......
  17. Bump -- $75 commission to anybody who finds a buyer for this.
  18. Since Michelin Pilot Powers are one generation behind, they are going for a most reasonable price. Great street tire performance and only 90 bucks for a front. Rears are going very reasonable price too. http://www.jakewilson.com/productDetail.do?navTitle=Motorcycle+Tires&webCatId=57&navType=type&webTypeId=444&prodFamilyId=20813&listingId=&sizeAttr=5325 https://www.denniskirk.com/_.p543401.prd Best tire prices are usually between Jake Wilson and Dennis Kirk (Quite unintentionally, I am running a Roadsmart in the rear and a Pilot Power in the front. Jeez when I needed a front the PP was on sale for $76 at the time. Hard to pass up. )
  19. When I first got it I worked at it, and had been playing on a junker student Selmer before. Probly spent 2 years "siting in" with local blues bands in the bars and drank late into the night. Then the next day, go to work in the morning, sometimes still buzzed. Got to a point where I just had to park it. The bit wasnt exactly conducive to a healthy life style. Havent played on any kind of regular basis since. Mostly just jumped in more all out into my motorcycling.

  22. No problem, just pointing it out. Sometimes if I have a choice between the China product or elsewhere, I'll pick the elsewhere. Although its damn hard nowadays to try to buy non - china products.
