+1 My first ever ride on a motorcycle was my dad's Kawasaki 750 H2.
-
37 Started riding at 7 on a KDX80 and have had many dirt bikes over the years. Bought an Indian moped at 14 and when I turned 16 bought a Yamaha XJ650 Maxim. I have had many bikes over the years, always sport or sport standards.

I did....and another useless fact My name was created by my 9th grade algebra teacher. She thought I was making fun of my best friend (still is) by calling him bacon (he had this nick name since like 1st grade because he always smelled like bacon in the morning)...anyway she said what if someone called you "whaler" (last name is Taylor) all the time, how would that make you feel? We laughed and the name stuck. Some 20 years later, and there are still old acquaintances that only know me by whaler. Useless

If your chain is getting worn out or is loose (past acceptable deflection), it will make this clunk appear worse because there is more drive lash to take up. Check Chain First Verify how much free play is at the clutch lever (no more than a penny between the stay and the lever before engagement). Kush Drive would be next In all likely hood, the bike has decent miles on it, and it is a combination of all of the above.

Green Savoree Buys Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, The Mid-Ohio School
whaler replied to Casper's topic in Daily Ride
Its funny, over the 20+ years I have been attending events at Mid-Ohio, the motorcycle related events seem to be the best attended. I am not sure how the previous ownership could have so much disdain for a large chunk of their revenue stream. Should be good things to come! -
Are you close to Medina, as I would be more than willing to take a look with you and see if we can get it road worthy. PM me if you would like to discuss this further.

42 is still a better strip than Marion County Raceway or its more common name "La Rue". 42's race surface has been upgraded in the last 5 or so years, but the pit road is still shit...hard to keep a vehicle clean. Norwalk "Summit" is a fine track, but your lucky to get 2 or 3 runs in on a normal night...I have seen nights were you get 1 and that is it.

It has been my experience that leak-proof brand seals are junk. They cost as much as the OEM seals but do not perform at all...static friction is worse, and they leak. Purchase the OEM seals and you will have no problems, just make sure you install them in the proper orientation...your service manual should indicate top and bottom.

I believe the 05-06 bikes were the same, and there is not an official 06 manual...maybe a supplement but the 05 manual will apply.

I would look at Autocom, its not the cheapest, but by far the best value...it will work, and if you do have to make a call from your bike, they will not know you are on the bike...it works that good.

My brother has a second gen (2007), I have ridden it quite a bit, and its a very impressive bike. Power is good, not liter bike good but perfect for the street. Very comparable too your 2001 FZ1 Comfort is exactly the same as my ZRX, but not quite as comfortable as the 2001-2005 FZ1. The seat, which is a little hard, would have to be changed for me to be ok with it, but he rode it to Barber with no issues. The suspension is good for the street, maybe a little harsh, but it is set up for him, and he prefers the solid feel. The front feels excellent, but the rear shock is prone to waller...which was hard to get right...most tend to throw a ZX6R shock on, as it is a direct fit (not sure of year) Best shifting bike I have ever rode, not to mention the smoothest. It is very different compared to the first gen (2003-2006). My opinion, its a very refined bike (considering its a streetfigher), but still has soul.

I am not going to answer your last couple of sentences...it is apparent that you have a sore spot with DMG decent. Had you read (or should we say comprehended) what I said, you would clearly see that I gave some weight to the economy. You should also know that Honda made statements (publicly) about DMG rules being the deciding factor. There is no secret, DMG and the manufacturers do not see eye to eye. Its very reminiscent of the NASCAR push to remove the manufactures in the 90's. Maybe we need a MOT (Motorcycle Of Tomorrow)...it will be a re-badged BUELL, but they will let you put whatever brand sticker you want on it. The only thing delusional here is thinking DMG moved the sport forward, or made it safer Rolling Starts? Artificially bunching the field with extended cautions? A pace car during cautions....are you kidding me? Done

Did not know you also haunted this site...nice to see you here! Bye the way...I did get the ZX7 jetting sorted Dynojet = Factory Pro = I have never tried so many different combinations to get a stock internal bike to run clean. Factory kit fist time out was better than the DJ, second time was as close to perfect as I can get with out a dyno and O2 reading.

Thats is so not true...The motorcycle division, is one very very small part of Kawasaki, they could run at any level, its just not the important to them. If you actually paid attention, you would see that Kawasaki is putting more money into WSBK for this coming season then they ever have. They have also contracted a better rider than they have in the last 15 to 20 years (Scott Russel being the last elite level rider for Kawasaki). Kawasaki's press release is a lesson in political correctness...yes the economy is down for the industry as a whole, but DMG has more to do with Kawasaki, Honda, and to a lesser degree Suzuki pulling or limiting support than anything else.

Welcome!!

Factory Pro uses standard keihin or mikuni jets, easy to get from dealer if needed. Dyno jet has there own jets, they are numbered different. They also have you plug your main air jet, Then use a much smaller main jet, which makes it hard to tune for midrange and on/off throttle response.
-
Welcome...I am new too, looks like a great place with great people!
-
Personally I would stay away from Dynojet...I do not agree with how they go about re-jetting a bike. Look at Factory Pro, IMHO, their kit will get you were you need to be, and will not sacrifice drivability.

I know "Motoporn" Greg and Bob S (he bought my 83 VF750F). I like the REX stock, although I have re-sprung and re-valved the front and went to a more aggressive brake pad. Ben thinking of re-jetting and putting on a pipe, but love the stealth OEM exhaust. Have been putting all of my mod-money into the ZX7, as the 7 is my play bike.
