  1. I agree. Do it yourself. I have been researching and learning all about suspension tuning this year to dial in my CBR1000RR. It has been fun to learn something new. Google Dave Moss, SportRider and Motorcyclist online for suspension tuning. Motorcyclist online even has a free suspension tuning sheet for printing to help keep records / take notes as you dial in your suspension. Rider Sag & Free Sag This is a perfect opportunity for you to learn more about your bike. Just saying. OhioBob
  2. So, I am finally ready/decided to buy Pit bull stands for my 2006 CBR1000RR. I will be getting the SS Rear stand & the Hybrid Fork lift stand. I will be adding the axle holders and the 8mm spools too. However, I can't decide on whether to go with the standard handles or the removable handle options. Does anyone have the removable handle options on their Pit bull stands? How have they held up over the use? If you were to buy Pit bull stands again, would you go with the standard handle or removable handle options? Why? My main use for the stands will be for winter storage to the tires off the ground to prevent flat spots...and of course, routine maintenance. Just want to get all the facts and knowledgeable experience before I click the buy button. Thanks in advance. OhioBob
  3. So, anyone going? Starts at 4pm - ? Live music, great food and great company/bikes, etc. OhioBob
  4. I am going to the Honda of Beechmont (Saturday) 8-22-15. I can't wait to try out the FZ-09 & VMAX.
  5. Well, again, it looks like I may not be able to attend this event due to issues with my bikes. (VTX very bad front end wobble & CBR has a vibration/loose bouncing feeling in the front.) I think the VTX needs the steering head bearings replaced and the CBR may have a bad front wheel bearing. Not sure if I can get them repaired prior to this event. Just FYI, for anyone who can and/or is interested, my church in Leesburg, OH will be having their 14th Annual "Ride 4 Christ" event on June 28th. All are welcome. There is often a mixture of different riding styles, but the last few years there has been less and less sporty bike presence, which I think is sad and one of the main reason I decided it was time to own a sporty bike too. There will be free food prior to the ride and a ride through some of the best roads (twisty & scenic) that Southern Ohio has to offer. If you need/want more info, just let me know. OhioBob
  6. It was hard to view the front as the jacket was covered over it, I think or something was covering the front of it.
  7. No, Bubba, You might be right. That looks pretty much like it. I didn't get the best look at it as I was driving by, but you know after a while of studying manufacturers, they tend to have a certain look trademark to their products and I know it was a Yamaha and red, but whether it was a FZ or FJ, unsure. However, that looks like what I saw. Thanks. Just was wondering.
  8. Just checking to see if the person who owns a red Yamaha FZ-09 (at least I think it was) that was eating at the Wendy's in Hillsboro, OH yesterday evening happens to be on here. Just was wondering. OhioBob

Right on Todd. Honda all the way! Get a VTX. You won't regret it. Besides, if you get a VTX 1300 and throw some Bubs JugHuggers on it, I swear it sounds as good or better than HD's. Just saying. OhioBob
  10. Doesn't Iron Pony offer free mount and balance if you buy the tires from them? A friend of mine did that years ago when his HD Wide Glide needed a new front tire. Not sure if still offer that service. OhioBob
  11. Great!!! I will be out of town that weekend. Maybe I will catch up with you guys/gals in June then. :-)
  12. He works for Independent Motorsports in Southern Columbus, just down the road from the Ohio Deli. Mmmmmm....good. He use to run his own business, but he decided that working for someone else was easier on his family (you know, more time to spend with his family after work and all). However, he still runs his own business (RedlineCycles) on the side, but doesn't do a lot of extra work. He customized a Honda CBR954RR that ended up in a magazine or two. He had that thing tricked out and producing 170HP at, yes at, the rear wheel. Not bad at all for a stock CBR954RR only produced 133HP or so. The only downside is it may take him a few days more than an actual shop to complete the work, because he has to fit it into his schedule after work, but he is a certified motorcycle mechanic, specializing in HD and Honda, but is efficient and pays attention to details on all bikes he works on. He is truly a great guy and great mechanic. I have told him in the past that he is working on my bikes, so my life is literally in his hands to do the job right. He told me that he works on customer's bikes as if it was his own.
  13. Well, it looks like I won't be riding the CBR (aka "The Beast") this weekend. I felt a bad vibration in the front end tonight and couldn't shake it for anything. I am unsure what is causing it, but I do know I probably need to check the valves soon since it is past the 16k mile marker and I am unsure if the previous owner did the valve check on it before trading it to me. However, it noticeably dives in the front. I know I need to set the sag and probably swap out the fork springs, but if I am going to do that then I might as well drop in some RaceTech Gold Valve kits while I have the forks apart. But now that I think of it I just had the forks serviced last fall by my guy (mechanic friend). Not sure if the Q3's are playing a factor or not, but it is very noticeable, so much so that I don't feel comfortable riding it anymore at the moment. I know I need to service the chain soon as it is past 400 or maybe 500 miles this season and I haven't serviced the chain since last fall before I stored "The Beast" away for the long winter nap, but don't think that would cause a vibration in the front.
  14. OK. It looks like I will only be free to ride Sunday afternoon now. I will send you a text this weekend to see about a possible meeting place.
  15. CORRECTION: I got ahead of myself. It is actually NEXT Thursday (May 14th). Sorry for the confusion.
  16. I understand. It took several tries to get in touch with them via phone. That is how I KNOW that QSL Bike Night is this Thursday. The first of the season at QSL.
  17. I have to head over to my parents for a little bit, but afterwards, I could go riding or I could ride Sunday afternoon. I am making sure to ride as much as time, family and weather permits this year. I am tried of saying I will get around to riding more "someday". What you thinking?
  18. Ok. I understand. Been there done that too.
  19. If you are heading this way on Sunday (May 3rd), give me a shout to where you would want to meet up. I can ride in the afternoon but have to be back in my town by 3pm.
  20. Sweet. Bring them along. I am an Army vet myself. Airborne / Air Assault... 11 bang bang.
  21. Ziggy, I understand. If I am riding "The Beast" then you are more than likely going to be faster than me. :-) If I am riding the X (VTX) then we will probably be fine keeping together. I am still getting use to the sporty bike style riding. However, I now catch myself riding or trying to ride the X like a sporty bike. LOL
  22. No one else interested? We don't have to do that route. It was just a thought. I just want to get together and ride.
  23. Bubba, I totally understand. So, many of the great events/rides seem to be happening with the Central Ohio groups and then they want to head over to Hocking Hills and all. So, I totally get what you are saying. Yes, we can meet up in Maysville. I am not that familiar with the NKY roads, but I have heard several riders speak good of them.
  24. I know it is still several days out (to know for sure of the weather), but it is shaping up to be the next perfect day for a ride on the weekend (sunny and mid to upper 70's). So, with that in mind, who wants to meet up and ride that day? We can meet in the morning and ride all day or meet whenever that day and ride a short jaunt somewhere or whatever. I am just game to ride and ride and ride... I know there are several of us in the Southern Ohio area, like r1crusher in Winchester, Heagachongoose in Portsmouth, MedicFFPaton in Mt Orab, cobravenom452 in Batavia, o-no-moto in Springfield and of course Bubba on the westside of Cincy. So, you want to meet up that day and ride or what? Once we have a good idea of all who can meet up then we can decide on a meeting place. We could do a gauntlet ride like this one https://maps.yahoo.com/directions/?lat=39.198382278695945&lon=-83.5529428452719&bb=39.23331687%2C-83.61522675%2C39.16334247%2C-83.49077225&o=Hillsboro%2C%20OH&d=Hillsboro%2C%20OH&w0=Greenfield%2C%20OH&w1=Bainbridge%2C%20OH&w2=Sinking%20Spring%2C%20OH&w3=Portsmouth%2C%20OH&w4=Friendship%2C%20OH&w5=West%20Union%2C%20OH&w6=Manchester%2C%20OH&w7=Abredeen%2C%20OH&w8=Slickaway%2C%20OH&w9=Decatur%2C%20OH&w10=Russellville%2C%20OH&w11=Macon%2C%20OH&w12=Winchester%2C%20OH&w13=Seaman%2C%20OH&w14=Tranquility%2C%20OH&w15=May%2C%Hill%2C%20OH&w16=Belfast%2C%20OH Or we could do a shorter blast somewhere. Just let me know if you can ride on Saturday (May 2nd) and we will go from there. OhioBob
