  1. I went to the AT&T store and played around with some phones and decided the S10 was the best fit for me.

The input here provided helped steer me towards that decision.

The Pixel 3 was a close second but those phones still seem to have some QC issues that I couldn't take a risk on.

My S7 is so old they wouldn't even take it in on trade in :lolguy:

  2. I just picked up a pixel 3xl and really like it. No native headphone jack though.

I might see if there's a way around that. I know the stupid I phone requires you to use some type of dongle to make wired headphones work.

Backing stuff up on the cloud is an acceptable compromise since we live in a Google environment at work.

Been reading up on the Pixel 4 and it doesn't seem like it's worth the money based on the reviews.

  3. So my S7 Active is getting long in the tooth with issues and dead pixels on the screen so I will need to get a new phone soon. I've done some research and want to hear what some of you are rocking.

    Needs:

Good camera for photos/video that I can use for work.

    Good battery life.

    Headphone jack for podcast recording.

Expandable storage would be a bonus.

    What I don't need.

    Any Apple phone.

Tons of bloatware or other unnecessary techno-junk.

Right now my shortlist is the Pixel 3 or the S10. Does anybody have feedback on these phones or something similar?

tl;dr: I need a new phone that isn't an iphone that doesn't suck

  4. Fuck optics. You tell me how some 18 year old apprentice is more qualified to plug in my pencil sharpener when I've been around over twice as long. What the hell kind of insurance policy dictates that you have to be union in order to connect a computer, and what business owner in their right mind would accede to such limitations? No. Either find a better argument, or admit that this level of ass-hattery is simply indefensible.

As for role definition, again... there's a difference between abusing classifications and setting people up to fail, versus just being pedantic. Not being allowed to throw out your own trash? My parents made me do that by the time I was three years old. That some union boss is going to come over and bitch me out, claiming I'm taking someone else's job away by not being a slob, is beyond ludicrous. There are legitimate reason for unions, but defending simple manners and cleanliness is not one of them.

Unions are around to defend the indefensible and protect idiots through "justifcation"

When I worked at Disney one of the union reps threatened me because I wouldn't change my story for an incident report. The union worker fucked up and got himself and another person hurt in the kitchen, its not my job to protect them.

Told my manager about it and he in a round about way said there was nothing he could do "because of the union and what they do".

I get that some workers might need protections from these big scary companies. How about if the company sucks you don't work for them? I know that is personal accountability and all, but I've left jobs that sucked when they did shady stuff and I didn't die....

  5. My experience with how unions operate at GM, I was sent to GM Powertrain in Defiance to install and calibrate a machine they had moved. I needed the machine plugged into a 110v wall outlet in order to turn the machine on. I was not allowed to plug in the machine because of union rules. My company scheduled me 2 weeks out, they knew I was coming for 2 weeks. After 3 hours, someone finally came by and plugged the machine in for me.

I asked what would happen had I plugged in the machine myself. I was told that if I did, the electrician could file a grievance against me (which would have been a certainty), and I would be walked out for the remainder of the day. The electrician would get paid their regular 8 hour shift, plus 8 more hours for the "work I was taking from them", all for plugging in a machine to a standard outlet. Yeah, unions can go fuck themselves.

We have the exact same issue at PRI each year with our booth. We get set up but can't plug anything in and have to sit there for hours waiting. If you have stuff that needs loaded in via forklift you're totally fucked.

  6. What about booking an AirBNB someplace fun? You could book the place to stay, nail down flights, rent a car, and just explore someplace.

I've poked around before at places in Key West, Boston, Texas, and other locations that have all kinds of cool stuff to do that doesn't require a crazy schedule.

There's also the Disney/Universal option where you can set it all up through a planner. If you want to do that let me know I have contacts. Wife and I did that for our honeymoon and a vacation and it was fun.

  7. My grandpa didn't say that, my wife's uncle said it and he's only been retired for a couple years.

So either GM is terrible because they treat their employees like shit, or they are terrible because they overpay their employees? Which is it?

    Yes

My dealings with unions of any kind have never been positive to put it nicely. I had one of their reps threaten me if I didn't protect one of their turd members that was causing issues at a location I worked at. As a manager dealing with them was truly awful. If you said or did anything they didn't like, you were getting a phone call/vist/e-mail from the union rep.

They have their place to a point, however, in my own personal experiences I've never seen them do anything positive towards the final product of work. They are REALLY good at collecting money

  8. PLEASE READ ENTIRE POST BEFORE RESPONDING.

I have some wall-mounted shelving that was given to me and I ended up not using all of it so I'm paying it forward. This stuff is similar to what you would see at a retail store like WalMart.

Link to an example except the shelves are solid:

I have a bunch of shelves that are various sizes and 3 posts that are mounted to the wall so you can use the shelves to get rid of. The posts are about 7.5 feed long and can be cut down to size with an angle grider.

If you want these it will be first come, first serve based on who responds to this post. No holds and you must come to my house to get these, I won't be delivering. I will go down the list based on responses to set up a pick up time and send pictures.

  9. Thanks to my racing and CR friends I'm locked and loaded now :fuckyeah:

Just saw about 10 ads on CL today for pallets in the free section.

I found a place giving some beefy pallets away on FB marketplace and scored a couple. If I had an extra able body I would have got more, these things are heavy duty and I can only fit 2 in the truck at a time.

If you're looking for firewood its going to be expensive right now, April/May was the time to look for cheapo wood

Ive got 4 cords, but thats my backup for winter, if i can come off i'll let you know

Yeah, this whole wood burning stove thing has been a nightmare to finalize so there were delays. Getting people to show up and provide an estimate was a problem, then you had the people that wanted $150-$200 to just write an estimate, and finally there was the price rape people.

  10. Send me a message with your phone number and location.

I do side jobs pretty regularly and can contact you with addresses where I'll leave wood if it's within your driving distance.

I'll be able to have it cut to length and piled for you.

    Will do.

  11. Travel to Lancaster? Ask has a metric shit ton of big pallets out front. I've got a few loads there. Need a trailer or cut them up on the spot....too big for the bed of a truck.

I actually just got the pallet situation solved I think. Found a company on Facebook getting rid of some big heavy duty ones so they will work as the woodpile base perfectly. Thank you for the offer.

Bring your truck and I can probably fill the back from trees I have dropped.

Will do as soon as I get a few things squared away. I've got a couple of people who hit me up in a similar situation that just want trees gone. That and I"m always down to take wood from you...

  12. Anybody here work for a business that needs to get rid of pallets in Columbus? I will come take as many as I can off your hands as soon as possible.

Also looking for firewood to burn in my shop and house stove. Have chainsaw, will travel within reason...

  13. Not to mention he was pulling a trailer all of Drag Week as well and freshened the heads at one point at the track to make sure he could do this.

Pretty much everything he owns is bad ass. His "beater" is the sick-seconds Camaro that has won Drag Week. He daily drives that to work when the weather is nice.

Then you have that Tornio he finished up:https://www.hotrod.com/articles/1966-ford-torino-talladega-nights-and-days/

Wait until you see the next car he's having built for Drag Week. It's the biggest middle finger to anybody who has talked trash about his street cars
