  1. Not all break ins or attacks are occurring at night while you sleep or while the house is dark, so where is your loaded and ready to go pistol or shotgun when they break through the door ar simply try to attack upon forced entry? More and more attacks and break ins are occurring in broad daylight and or when they know somebody is home, or when you simply answer the door not knowing what to expect. Heck somebody could just walk in my home during the day when I am home, not like I have my house on lockdown, especially when nice outside. I have a weapon where I sit in the living room, also one in the kitchen and one in my office. Fully accessible and very quickly if not already on my person, that is why I kind of like that coffee table vault. My family and living situation allows me to safely have weapons available quickly, but I know many are not that fortunate or maybe willing to do that. Real important that you have safe and quick access to a weapon for where you spend most or much of your time.

  2. For those of you that use a safe, surely you have a round in the chamber ready to go?

To each, his own.... Loaded magazine in the gun, but not chambered. Again, that one bit of added protection. For me, my vision of need is the bump in the night, dogs barking, alarm sounding....time to think and react. Someone bursting through my doors would have the upper hand, but wouldn't they with no safe and chambered weapons at the ready? I know I'm disoriented when startled from sleep. Again, to each, his own. I'm not here to convince anyone of doing something different. I like to know that my guns are secure from little hands of both my children and of their friends. I like to know that protection is a keystroke away. I like to know that if a child was able to access one of the safes through dumb luck, problem solving or finding the stash of keys (they all have a back-up key....locked away of course), they will have to consciously rack the slide to fire. I'm good with it that way. It works for me.

  3. Please be careful. A child's ability to reason is not developed like an adult. Something as easy as pressing four key strokes being the difference between life and death. There are no more teachable moments when that child lays dead on the floor.

  4. I also have a keyed stack-on which houses my EDC which I really like, but it opens from the top so a nightstand may not work.

I also have some Walmart thing that opens from the top. I'm not a fan because you have to hit a wake-up key. For me, no problem. But my wife is less of an enthusiast and doesn't care to memorize the idiosyncrasies of each different safe.

  5. I'm a big fan of OWB, but it's more difficult in warmer scenarios. I like the Concealment Solutions Sidewinder for that. For IWB, I've found Crossbreed Supertucks provide a good carry system. The belt attachment points are spread out and the Kydex is thinner than leather. I find leather IWB to take up more room than necessary. Everyone has opinions and these are mine. My current carry is a CZ 75D compact PCR. It's about the size of a Glock 19. I carry comfortably both IWB and OWB. Get a good belt made for holster support.

  6. Since the EGR valve flows exhaust back into the intake, my guess is "no". Carb cleaner is a fair bit more aggressive. You have to remove the valve and spray it in there to loosen up all the scum that is preventing it from operating correctly.

No worries, I wasn't being critical of you, just annoyed at what a dealer charged you to fix this. Was the head of their service department wearing a stetson hat, cowboy boots and carrying a six shooter?

    Highway robbery...

Lol....actually, they could have charged me $1000 and I would have paid it. Drove the family to Florida for a long weekend. Being stuck there wasn't an option.

  7. Did I read you paid $300 to have the EGR valve replaced? WOW.  I always just pulled 'em off, sprayed / doused with carb cleaner, let sit, dry, reinstall and drive another 25,000 miles.

    1) I was on vacation in Florida when the light came on

    2) I have no way of knowing what the hell the light is for

    3) Had to Google what an EGR was

    4) I just learned how to change the oil in my lawnmower about four years ago

  8. I never mentioned anything about the brace. Only responding to MT post about the 30 round magazine. Like my PM said. Learning how to read for fucks sake.

I publicly apologize to zx3fr. I have no excuse other than not fully engaging in what I was reading before posting. Although I haven't fully read the bill, I have no reason to believe that he is not correct regarding capacity as that piece would fit what the legislature is trying to do.

  9. I never said it was old. It was purchased a year before he died. Its an H&R dicks special that is basically a Chinese 870. He passed in August of 2009. I've been around guns for at least the past 20 years. A couple posts either before or after I mentioned I bought my first AR at the end of 2010. And I have been proficient in hand guns since shortly after turning 21, simply because we only had long guns growing up. Pretty far from the 3 weeks of knowledge you claim I have. When.I said I bought my first stripped low I meant my first stripped lower. I don't stumble on my words. So I think you owe me an apology because someone with your knowledge should have known about HB234 being signed by the governor aost a week ago.

Identify where in that bill an arm brace becomes an SBR and I will publicly proclaim my mistake with full apology.

  10. That' is changing in less than 90 days.

Link to source please. You've really brushed up on your gun-knowledge considering just 3 weeks ago the only gun experience you had was your grandfather's old shotgun with the 10-round tactical magazine. Since then, you've grown a few handguns and an AR build as well as an impressive knowledge of ATF policy discussion. I'm impressed!
