  1. What do you consider donated? I was originally planning on doing this. My cousin gave me a '79 CX500, and my wife bought a lot of parts for Christmas. If this still meets the criteria, I may be able to meet the deadline. If not, I will continue with my build for personal satisfaction. Maybe I can still get it done and ride it just to check out the show. Is there a location yet? Edit: sorry missed "location to be determined. "
  2. I run Avon Roadrider 140/70/18 rear and 120/70/17 front. I don't know how wide you can go, but it handles very nicely. I think stock for the front is 110.
  3. ALL drug seizure money goes to SWAT. (SWAT does include K-9)
  4. Drug seizure money goto for SWAT toys only.
  5. Speed kills officers. It has happened on more than one occasion that a suspect has hid in a car and waited for officers to let their guard down then shoot them as the walk to the car. As far as the trunk button, my trunk doesn't open if the key isn't in the on position, and the trunk needs to be checked. Columbus PD is the 8th largest department in the country (per our training) (I found other numbers), and we are one of the best trained and equiped departments but we don't have the money for equipment like that.
  6. No. Have you watched any shows like wildest police videos and seen FLIR shots? They pick up the engine and break heat but not occupant heat. The FLIR is very limited when it comes to seeing inside/under things. Heat signitures get lost in open air under trees. Through steel is not going to happen.
  7. Tactically you wouldn't want to be in front of the vehicle where they can see your every move. If they did shine a light from the front, they then illuminate all of the officers to the rear for the bad guy and make it difficult for the officers to see any movement that may be happening in the vehicle. Officers put that spot light on vehicle occupants for a reason. It is to prevent/hamper vehicle occupants from viewing their movements. Walking up on a vehicle is a regular traffic stop is very dangerous to begin with. Add in limo tint and a wanted felon who doesn't want to go to prison, and it can turn into a disaster in a real hurry. They did the correct thing by trying to negotiate him out first. It just so happened that he exited his vehicle before they got there.
  8. A lot of the officers that I work with are CCW instructors.
  9. If you are planning on supporting Starbucks today and haven't, please do. I just left the one in Mill Run, and the girl behind the counter said business has been the slowest she has ever seen today. Maybe it's the cold/snow, but maybe not.
  10. Hadn't planned on going to Starbucks today, but now I am. I am not a coffee drinker and it is a little cold, but it looks like a good day for a Caramel Frappuccino.
  11. http://fiscalofficer.cuyahogacounty.us/en-US/REPI.aspx This is the web site for the Cuyahoga County Auditor. The link is to the property search page. If theirs works like Franklin Co., all you need to do is type in the name of the person you are looking for and a picture of their property will pop up along with all of the property information. All public information. Good luck!

I think someone deserves a 5 FINGER DEATH PUNCH for starting this thread! (just kidding)
  13. The fact of the matter is that there are going to be officers that will be pricks and write the ticket no matter what. I personally don't agree with that. There are hard working people flat out can't afford to have 25% or more of their weekly pay check taken from a traffic ticket and or court costs. The law is still the law, and officers are still within the scope of their duty and have the legal right to write that ticket. I just don't agree with it personally. If I can keep the roads safe with a warning, I will do it when ever possible.
  14. If the officer is proactive, window tint is the perfect tool to get a stop. It can give you a reason to begin an interaction that could lead to more. As a general rule, I don't write traffic tickets unless I need to. If there is more than a traffic infraction, I will call for a tint meter and write it as my PC for the stop. If not, you go on your merry way. However, I have a partner on Wednesday and Thursday who will write it almost every time. He views it as an officer safety issue (which it is). He issues the ticket and tells them that if they go to a professional to have it removed, then take the receipt to court, they will almost always dismiss the charge.
  15. Where I work, dope slingers and people with illegal guns tend to have darker than legal tint. We hammer the shit out of dark tint. Ohio allows no less than 50% light transmissionand it is primary offense. The last I checked, it was a $120ish fine in Franklin Co. However, one of our freeway guys told me that the fines are now in the $160 range.
  16. Sometimes it takes a mind outside the industry to come up with innovative ideas. Good luck with the build and keep us updated.
  17. Should be above and beyond. I might be looking at this incorrectly, but they should have no expectation of privacy from you in your vehicle to begin with. Look at it like the "Bait Car" our Auto Squad uses. Full audio and video inside. They park it and wait for someone to take it, then all recordings are used against them in court. The bad guys don't know it is there, and we have no idea who is going to take it in order for us to get a warrant to "conduct a wire tap". The great part is that the car even makes the arrest for them. It locks the door "trapping" them inside, then they sit and wait for the officers to let them out.
  18. Joseph's Toyota is a great place. They were a customer of mine when I was in automotive paint sales. They had great techs working there!
  19. I wouldn't think it would matter at all. But even if it did, the owner still knew the recording was taking place.
  20. The only requirement for "wire tapping" in Ohio is that one of the parties know that the recording is taking place.
  21. I have never personally dealt with them, but Central Ohio Welding Supply Co. is on E. Spring St. It is at Spring/Neilston. I looked at their website and it says they supply to businesses as well as the hobbiest.
