  1. Because I found the track. I've never quit riding the street, and ride much less track than I used to, but once I rode a track, the street just "wasn't good enough". I'd rather have the fear associated with going into turn one than the fear of someone in a minivan turning across my path, or some jackass texting coming into my lane. I like it when everyone is going in the same direction. And fast. And faster.
  2. Can try for tomorrow. If they're still here, they're yours. Can Paypal me if you want. RC: I never strapped 'em down. It looks like it used the footpeg mounts to secure the fronts of the bags. The rear attachments may hook underneath, to each other. Not positive. One of the common comments on the reviews is "no instructions", and since they're universal, maybe they did that on purpose, knowing that we're a resourcefull bunch. The top straps are wide velcro, and it looks like they can either go over, or under, the passenger seat, depending on where your latch is.
  3. YS? Nobody ever thought to give ME a bong for Christmas... Welcome. Springboro here.
  4. He means that the heavy winds didn't move them around on their kickstands as they were parked in front of whatever bar. BTW, I never did make it out. I swear, within ten minutes of me posting that, the sky got dark, the winds picked waaaay up, and it dropped six degrees.
  5. The ballistic batteries are about 3-4x more $$ than a traditional battery. Nobody sees it. If you're "on a budget", there may be better ways to spend the $100 difference. Like on a front brake/ reservoir setup. I wish I would've taken more photos of my "before" SV650. It was in horrible shape, and I think I resurrected it pretty well. Lots of fun.

  7. Awesome. It should be a fun project. Join an RC forum, and lurk around, as well as look for parts. You shouldn't have any trouble finding what you need, and some great advice.
  8. Me too. I think its part of how the magazines get rid of their returns, but still fulfill the subscriptions. Fine by me, as it was all news to me. The Jan issue of SR has the Duc baby Streetfighter. I was ready to call Indy Ducati..... until I saw the price tag. Fuhgeddaboutit.
  9. From the 1m candlepower handheld lights from mid-November. Wondering where my rebate is, so went to their "check your status" website from the rebate form. Says it can't find a rebate for me. Anyone get theirs yet?
  10. Only good part on a '14, so I used it.
  11. 57 degrees, sun is shining. Gonna get the bike out for a little while. Took a quick ride on Sat afternoon, and so far so good. Got an 07 sv1K awhile ago, but didn't like the way it handled, so put the GSXR front end on it and a ZX14 rear shock, and on the short ride the other day, it felt like the sv650 did, but more fasterer, and the front wheel likes to come up.
  12. You aint seen nothin' yet. It will suck the life out of you, and you'll wish you had rented instead. You're "free time" will now be consumed with "that $(*)*@(! house" that you've gotta spend money on just to keep it standing. Kind of like buying a new car. Its only cool to you for a little while. Except this will be a 30-year albatross around your neck. Pulling you down. Trying to kill you.
  13. I'd really consider this. Appears heavier duty (though mine doesn't flex or anything), is foot/ air operated, and it has many levels of "rest" with the safety catches on the back. To keep the pressure off of the cylinder on the HF, they tell you to not leave the table up for long periods (i.e. days), and to use the support bar to hold the weight of the table/ bike. They only give you two hole sets for height (one is 8-12" lower than full lift, the other is 15" or so off of the ground, and the third is all the way down). The Greg Smith looks like it gives you many more options. If the HF breaks, I'd probably spring for the GS, and figure its the only one I'd have to ever buy. But again, my HF does great for me. No regrets at all. $299 coupons seem to be less frequent, and their regular price is ridiculous. If it were only full price, I'd go with GS in a heartbeat. And Indy is a nice place to visit. Lots to do.
  14. He's been heading that way with the rest of us old folks from the '80's.
  15. I love mine, and my back loves it, too. I've had it for about a year now with no problems at all. I'm only lifting sport bikes, and agree with above that if you're lifting dressers and such with any frequency, you probably need a heavier unit. Probably the best $300 I've spent on bikestuff in a long time. I've used it for full size ATVs by bolting a 4x6.5' piece of plywood to the top. I never even mounted the stock wheel chock. I drilled some holes near the front to mount a popchock, and when I've needed to use front end lifts (fork lifts, as well as pin lifts), they've both worked fine.
  16. did the bike sell? CL ad DBA....
  17. Thats a photo from the Baconlube factory. And now you know..... the REST of the story.
  18. Figured it out. The resistor itself is bad. No conductivity through it at all. The key switch in the SVs has a 100ohm .5w resistor in it to help prevent hotwiring theft. If the ECU/ ECM doesn't see the (reduced voltage??) coming in from that line in the keyswitch module, it won't activate the fuel pump. So yeah, the resistor is necessary, and nothing was passing through mine anyhow. Thanks to all for the input. Soooo relieved that that is all it was. Only four more months or so til I can take it out and shake it down.
  19. Found this while looking for stuff for a project. Digging the electroluminescent tubing and ribbon. https://www.inventables.com/
  20. LOL. Same directions worked fine on the 650, and the 1K DID start/ run/ etc just fine until.... Well. I don't know. Messed with a few things between it starting, then trying to start it again. I guess my question is really about the .5w vs. 1w rating on the resistor. Its still the same resistance being read by the ECM, so shouldn't matter. Is that correct? I hate electronics...
  21. America: Where the "poor" have flat screen TV's, cell phones, hot water, and cable. And think they deserve it. I worked at a Kroger for three days while in college. Walked out because I got pissed off about bagging steaks and King Don's for people paying with food stamps while I ate Ramen noodles and bought my bread at the bakery clearance outlet. Yeah, still a little bitter about that.
  22. Working on the SV1K. Getting rid of a bunch of the stock wiring/ cluster, etc. Instructions called for a .5w 100 ohm resistor, but all I had was a 1w 100 ohm. Okay to substitute? This is to keep the cluster from throwing a code, I believe (which is funny, cuz like I said, I got rid of the cluster..). Had it set up this way on the 650 as far as the wiring. wattage is the only difference, and now the fuel system won't prime/ pressurize.
