    High beams

Exactly! I've scared somebody slightly behind me by safety wobbling before though. No method is perfect. I do have retrofitsource bi-xenons installed though, so my beam is the same intensity, no mater what. It's just a shutter that blocks the top half of the beam with my lows on. So the wobble essentially flashes the light at them, without looking like I'm flashing.
  3. I had a bad experience at vista so I won't be going back there any time soon.
  4. awesome. and hey, you're out what? $7?
  5. screw these guys. try it! if it doesn't work, you can flick the boogers at em!
  6. idk how powerful bike alternators are, but with my car, i accidentally pulled off my positive terminal when jumping somebody. it ran fine, idled fine, no symptoms. i only found out when i turned the motor off, and all the electronics died instantly. but... on the bike, that's probably not the case.
  7. Just head east. East of caesar's creek and ride around. There are bike road websites too.
  8. Early morning ride? That way it's not so stinking hot.
  9. I was just informed that I, contrary to what I was told earlier, don't work tomorrow. So, free day. Anything fun happening?
  10. That's what she said. Truth, though. In both instances.
  11. What's with all this yamahate? It's not a gsxr!
  12. I think the msf should be funded better, and required. And maybe give bike more liberty here, like they do in the motherland.
  13. On top looking down makes for a cool angle, but also generates a lot of drag at highway speeds. I heard good things about doing the chin bar, but the bells have a pointy chin bar, so it's hard to do the adhesive right. I made good video with it on the side of the tail fairing looking past my hip and knee.
  14. Let it get 200 degrees, put it in first and watch the idle. If it starts to dip erratically, it's the tps. I just cleaned mine so crossing my fingers. It's a 2 gen thing too.

    leather care

ZOMBIE THREAD! ok all... I gots my first leather. Icon Overlord white leather jacket. It's pretty badass. It came in with something fine and gray rubbed in some areas, but it rubs off. I plan to start by wiping it down with a wet rag, then some sort of leather care product. Did some searching, and some reading. Found pretty much the same stuff on sportbikes.net as well. I've got lemon pledge, nikwax fabric and leather waterproofer, nikwax leather footwear conditioner, granger footwear waterproofer, and saddle soap on hand. Saddle soap is made for leather, so I'm leaning toward using that to start. it's also the thickest, and will probably last longer than anything else. After it gets dirty again, I may go to pledge, mainly because I love the smell. it's bad. I started using it on my bike, and now I'm addicted to the stuff. Any other ideas? I'm too cheap to go buy anything else when I've got an arsenal here already.
  16. not interested in buying, but it does sound good. sounds like a good owner. one owner? might as well list color as well, since you don't have pics yet.
  17. I agree. Read... For what it's worth, keep in mind that we all live in a capitalist society.
  18. I've heard that many paints degrade the safety of the helmet. is that true? Use water color?
  19. So, I got my uniforms at AK Steel, where I'm co-oping at this summer. It's all fire retardant, but I don't have to wear the pants if I don't want to, for my main duties. I always wear jeans. Not leather or textile or whatever, but it's my motgatt exception... They are 100% cotton, Reed FR pants. The material itself is only slightly thinner than my regular jeans. I know it won't save me from a skin graft if I go sliding across I-75, but is it better than jeans? I've been down a couple times at low speeds now, and my jeans have actually took some beatings for me. More than shorts would have done, ya know? Thanks for any input.
  20. motorcyclegear is an awesome business to work with. nate does get better prices though, and seems like a one man army. i'd suggest going to IP with a few item choices in mind, and try them on. Wear them around the store for 20 minutes, (hey, it's a motorcycle store. the best place to walk around in that helmet with a half-naked babe on the side.) After you're sure it fits, if it's not on sale, buy it online. someone is going to beat their price. i'd say buy local, but a) it's not really local to you, and b) they sell bikes, they gots money. and c) that's what being a consumer is about; getting your money's worth. buy the odds and ends there, though. the net, which i still need to get. plus: then, i'd say add on at least one oil filter, and oil, lube, degreaser, mineral spirits(idk if that's at IP actually), saddle soap if you have leather, battery tender if you desire, a couple branded t-shirts, skulls and crosses are a bonus, a helmet-mohawk, giant useless red light tripper magnet, hookers, blow, etc... other things i'd prefer to put under my seat or in my bookbag: zip ties, electrical tape(in the plastic case, or else it gets messy when it's hot), tool kit, or at least a zip-loc with the essentials, multi-tool would work if it's a larger one, but pack allen wrenches too, a big-ass swing-able wrench just in case, and you already have the pressure gauge. also, i always line my jacket pockets with zip-loc bags. you never know when you'll want to keep your phone dry in a downpour. jk. just keep your sunglasses and flip flops on at all times.
  21. Well, it works. It's not perfect, but i didn't expect it. The thickness of the cast is a little less than stock overall which came into play when pinching bolts up to it. Idk if it's just me expecting it, or if it's there, but the thinner material seems to give it a little more sway when you push on it. If it breaks, I'll be sure to update. Seems fine though.
  22. my 91 prelude has 188k on it. of course, i've put in 5 quarts of oil since buying it with 185k. as well as a bottle and a half of power steering fluid, and just last night had to put brake fluid in the clutch reservoir. it's a thirsty car... my fiance's 06 Aveo has 50k miles on it, and had the throttle computer replaced within the last 3k. cars suck in general.
