  1. i saw. you have my attention peaked. as far as ergos go, i'm used to an r6. and, the most luggage i need is a backpack and tankbag... check. now i need the forecast tomorrow to jump by 20 degrees.. will i need to jump through any hoops to do a test ride tomorrow?
  2. So... I've been considering fixing the transmission shaft, and selling my R6. It's been an awesome bike, and I'm sure it can be someone else's treasure. I took it from trash, to something worth riding, and pretty much back to trash again, with my wreck, and the clutch issue. I'll get it running, fit the brand spanking new sharkskinz plastics to it, and sell it to a tracker or something. Anywho, I want to experiment. And, all the triple owners on here seem to love theirs. I miss the 650, so it should be a step in the right direction. All you triumph guys, gimme the good, the bad, and the ugly. Also highly considering going to Joe's in Dayton and test riding before it gets too cold.
  3. man, screw you guys! i'd be riding if my bike ran...
  4. isn't there a lesser known american v4?it sounds rather hot rod ish, but eh some people would like it.
  5. Just oil and antifreeze, right? I've already got the pan off so that's no big deal. Got that off. We did have to dremel through the old gear that was on there. After it was almost all the way cut, it "popped" and cracked the rest of the way off. The basket chunk was putting it in a lot of stress. Ok, I believe I get this. I put a couple oil pan bolts on there, and tightened them to pull the plate thingy off. (excuse my bad terminology, I'm at school, so no manual to check things.) I can see inside the gears, and can watch them switch back and forth while I turn the driving gear. So, at this point, it's literally just drain antifreeze, unhook things and pull the lower half off? Once again, no manual, or else I'd be more specific. With the lower off, the transmission shaft should pull out? Thanks a ton, btw. This is way deeper than I've ever been into my bike, but it's cool learning. Hell, I can't break it, it's already broken.
  6. i had a radioshack x-mod i took to a couple hobby shops when i was a tween. dad got me a lithium set up, so it smoked any of the mini-z's in a straight line. but i couldn't drive it for shit. 1/28 scale though, smaller than all of those. it was awesome in a parking lot though.
  7. bummer. i see you like keystone... i buy, you fix...?
  8. This is an update to my clutch implosion thread here... Long story short, a basket tooth broke, and got stuck between the crank driving and clutch driven gear, stopping the engine instantaneously. This also broke a couple discs, and now I found out that it bent my transmission drive shaft. See the pics below. Right side Close-up. It is Item 12 on page 309 of the Service Manual. So here's the deal...The manual says I have to split the case to get this out. I'm hoping this is not true. Someone more experience than I? What's my best option? The manual also told me I had to drain the coolant just to scoot a hose out of the way, so I know it's not gold... I don't have a lot of time to work on it, thus why I'm just now updating my progress... Is this a worthwhile fix?

    New Toy

i'd get some of those heightening boots, or a lower seat before ruining the handling of my motorcycle...
  10. I love my star. Much better then the two scorpions I had before.
  11. I had to do about a quarter mile to the cabin in hocking hills, with my fiance on the back. Hills and turns and shit too. Speed is your ally. Let the rear get loose, and be planted on the front. Don't think about it and your instincts will help. Like how whoever said, what would your ten year old self do? probably go as fast as possible...
  12. I need enough parts for mine I could buy yours just to gut... But like my bike, I'm broke.
  13. I have not bought from them, but the service employee was very... Unwilling to help on the phone with my clutch problems. Other places were glad to give me whatever knowledge they could offer. Not to turn this into a rant thread... It's nice that ridersdiscount has good service and an understanding rep.

    Frog Lube

Why would anyone ever do that to a frog!?
  15. wow, now i'm getting scared to give. i always do when i'm around a place. wsu has blood drives pretty regularly that i hit up for punch. so far i've had a couple bruises, but no nerve pain like that. and i have ginormous veins...
  16. my pps weren't confidence inspiring at all. now, i'm not a track day rider, so my word is pretty much useless. they did last me a season and a half though. commuting every day it was above freezing, and some under, if it was dry. don't ask miles cuz i have no clue.
  17. Rape house may have been severe. I understand the need for slightly increased prices, with overhead. But, they are also a dealer, and service shop as well. They're not hurting for money. if it's a small business, then yes. I will support them. I do like ip's selection. Oh, and I also bought a greaser vortex from motorcyclecloseouts. :-)

    Asshole day?

i would not have pulled into the gas station... people that deliberately try to kill you on the road won't hesitate to do so on the side of the road... that being said, all people are assholes to bikes. especially vespas, er i mean 250s.
  19. Congrats on learning that iron pony is a rape house. And even more so impressed that you got a full face, owning a harley. I'm glad you care about your noggin.
  20. wow. that's near the price i bought my bike for. in shitty condition. and is now out of commission for a bit... wish i had the moolah. that is sexay.
