  1. Yah, the apartments dont have central air, so we can heat only the rooms we need. And yes, we will be "insulated" on three sides of the apartment, plus above. We have friends who life there already, in a two bedroom, who just turn on their bedroom heaters, and that handles the whole place well enough.
  2. Mom has one, stuffed in a closet somewhere! You're a genius. I understand the splitting argument, I really do. I also understand that she is just as logical and methodical as I when it comes to her finances. When shit went down with her old roomy, she immediately made arrangements to pay off the rest of her half of the lease, and she ditched. Besides, she wouldn't leave me, she wants my bike! If anything does happen, I'll be sure to tell everybody, so you can laugh at my interwebz face... We do try really hard to be fair in the financial department, though.
  3. Eh... if we do split, which I find highly unlikely, but if... I'd like to make it fair. Hell, I'd rather her keep the place, and I'd just go back to home cooked meals. (Which I am quickly realizing how much I will miss.)
  4. Haha, we are both at school... And I'm not even 21 yet. Less than a month to go... i've been waiting soo long. All my friends are older than me, and it sucks being the guy ordering a water, all the time. I'm usually pretty good with money, so bill payments shouldn't be bad, unless we don't have it. Mint.com has a nice budgeting feature I'm acclimating myself to. Also, mom's letting me take one of her couches. This place is big enough and she never fills them up anyway. For food, I'm slightly worrying about that as well, because she certainly does love chipotle and the like. But, she says being able to buy groceries will persuade her to pack lunch and crap.
  5. Hey now, she wants a bike too... I already had to promise her mine when I upgrade. And yes, renter's insurance is required by the complex. I learned the hard way how important it is, when my PS3 was ganked from her old apartment.
  6. Yup. Haven't been on the forums much, but I know you folks are just here to spread the love. So, here's the situation: I've been out before, I was in the dorms for a year, then basically couch camped between mom's and my girlfriend's for a bit. Then, she and her roomy had a fight, so we both came back to my mom's place. But, it is time for us to go. Rent is approximately 1/4 of our monthly income, as some apartment shopping websites have recommended. Other combined bills will be electric, internet and insurance. Water, trash, and all that jazz is paid for by the complex. I'll also have my bike payment, and her engagement ring payment, which total slightly less than 200/mo. She has her car payment, and credit card. I made sure it was a downstairs place, so I could bring my baby(bike) in. What else... We have a table, couch, recliner and bed. D/W is included, and they have laundry facilities throughout the complex. We also have two dogs. Ok, that was a lovely list. Anybody want to share some words of wisdom, for any aspect of moving out?
  7. I believe you see where the tire will consistently rotate to, when you take your hand off. Try a quarter turn all around, and use a pencil or something to mark the top when it's done rotating. Put a little weight there, then repeat? Something like that, for an idea. But I AM NOT AN EXPERT, so this is only my limited recollection from reading my service manual...
  8. looks like something i'd like. but i'm preparing to move out, so no dice. nonetheless, bump for ya. btw just checked, stt has em on closeout. may want to lower price...
  9. This year was my first year of riding, and i didn't encounter ANY situation that needed more power/speed/torque/balls than my little 650 could dish out. Hell, most of the time, after a scary situation, I'd realize it was my fault entirely. Usually because of my very eager wrist. That's why I knew I should not have a liter or even a 600 super sport. If you actually do get the CBR1000 of your dreams, exercise caution. Indian drivers may be crazy, but American drivers are assholes. As far as insurance goes, I found it easier to get my quotes over the phone. Look up numbers to Geico, State Farm, Progressive, The General, etc. Otherwise, good luck.
  10. looks pretty sick, and i'm a fully faired whore... good luck with everything.
  11. my friends and i have a plunger handle attached to a rope, which is attached to a dumbell in the trunk. usually use sleds and a big parking lot, with a ramp, though. when we go on the road, somebody always smashes a parked car.
  12. Because I'm retarded.. But they race on a track, so that's gotta count for something.
  13. Hey Jeff, I'm in Franklin. This was my first year of riding, but I got along well. lemme know if ya wanna take that superglue out to some twisties.
  14. Who's going!?! I plan to. Dad wants to come too, so I'll be the guy with a rumbling Softtail Springer on my back. Pretty dam stoked to see Rossi on a Duc!
  15. Having just read all ten pages of this in a particularly boring meeting... My opinion is that more than one person is flaunting their ego here.and most of it is simply people nitpicking. I think a cold wet road is slick enough. That's my .02.

    What's up

idk if i'm the only start-small nazi here, so i'll be nice. But really, even with a little experience, it's always a good idea to get your technique down on a smaller bike that you can push harder.
  17. I get pretty tired of sitting and sitting and sitting sometimes. Some lights around here won't even change at all unless they detect your weight. So, I have to "run" a red light just to get home. But, I really doubt these giant magnets do anything but add on 5 lbs. to the bottom of your bike.
  18. and they basically say that you don't need a helmet with that thing... i'll always have a helmet, thank you. i can't get over the ew of that.
  19. wow mine sucks in comparison. laptop on a belkin N router with SBC modem from a decade ago. DSL for the lose.
  20. Anything? I'll pay you to ship the boots to Franklin.
  21. Very nice post Hoblick. Made me smile a little just to be here now. I do enjoy the genuine, yet usually perverse nature of people on here. Hope to meet more of you guys on rides!
