This site is actually what got me thinking about the Daytona again... The ergos are actually very similar to the nakeds (street triple, fz09) when it comes to knee bend.
Hellmutt,
I've looked at VFR's and haven't ruled out a bike like that necessarily. My hesitation with a sport tourer is taking them onto the track and feeling lacking. I guess you can't have the best of both worlds since these are machines designed for a specific purpose but that won't stop me from looking.
Think I'm gonna run over to the eurodealer east of town tomorrow and sit on a Daytona and a street triple then maybe go check out some Yamaha and/or Honda action.
*wanted to clarify that I don't think I would find the VFR lacking in performance, I was referring more toward the riding position and so on.

ADV bikes don't fit my tastes sadly. Looking for something nice in the twisties/for track days that is at least a bit more comfortable than the SV, and if not more comfortable at least has a little more oomf when I want to get going in short order.
I guess I'll take a day and go sit on some bikes and see what feels good. That probably should have been step #1 but it's late and everywhere is closed.

So... I've got the bug and I have a feeling it's not going to be good for my wallet.
How big a mistake would it be for a 6'6 280lb rider to buy a Daytona? I've got the SV right now and I like it quite a bit but good lord it gets uncomfortable for my knees past an hour or so saddle time without a good 10 minute walking stretch break. Looking around, it seems the peg height / seat height combo of the Daytona would give me a pretty good amount of leg room compared to the SV but I figured I would see if any people with actual experience on the bike had anything to say or any other suggestions. I'd like to stay away from i4's... the other bikes I have been eyeballing are the fz09, street triple and RC51 SP2.

Guess I'll be looking for a 675R for sale in the next couple days...

left side so i can make sure the kick stand is down and planted and catch the bike if something goes wrong with the stand / soft ground / whatever else.
not really worried about a trapped leg as my bike only weighs like 380lbs and i'm not old and crippled until i turn 30 in september.

It's all about angles, proper positioning, anticipating how you need to move and having a reaction speed fast enough to respond.
Am I talking about riding or playing goal?
-
Goal is probably the most difficult position to play, both physically and mentally, by the way.

Uhg, so tempting but I need a new car first. :\

pretty sure this would cause more harm than good, at least for the first few years. Squids blasting through traffic and drivers who have never had to deal with something like that on a regular basis...

You'd need some pretty solid branding to sell food items over the Internet.

Been pretty quiet downtown on the waterfront. At the place I'm working, the head of security is the former Baltimore Police Commissioner (apparently) and he seems to think things might get dicey this weekend. Who knows, though.
Weather is beautiful!

Flying into Baltimore in 14 hours for work... 10 days in paradise.
Maybe my Camden yards hotel will have a picturesque view of the city in flames. I'll post some shots if so. :|

Guess I'll see you guys at 9am at the Shell station.

I have a trailer but it turns out to be the 4x7 from tractor supply co, not the 5x8 i thought it was. Not sure about fitting 2 bikes on it. Might be possible but it would be incredibly tight. Might be some unwanted rubbing on the ride down. Also between the bikes.

Frat has everything to do with it. It's a closed off little microsociety that is purposefully insular against the outside world as well as being exclusionary. Guess what type of mindset this breeds? "We're all that matters, everyone else can go get fucked."
Are all frats like this? No. A good portion of them are though and it's a societal problem that needs addressing.
-
frat kids, big surprise.

Definitely a great run, thanks for organizing it JC.
-
I might head on over for at least a bit of the run, though if I'm not there by the time you're ready to leave don't wait for me.
I'm hard to miss. 6'6 guy on a grey sv650s.

I had my suspension done by him on Saturday as well for my FZ-09. Fork springs, rear shock, and rear tire install. Dropped it off at 10am and it was done at 1:30. He gave me a basic understanding of everything too as I know nothing about suspension. Fantastic work.
Nice looking bike. Front end was off when I got there to drop my sv... hehe

Just wanted to toss this up here,
Hoblick did a spring/shock swap for me this weekend and dialed in the settings, he busted his ass to get things done in just a couple of hours... real stand-up guy and great quality work. Will definitely be doing business with him again in the future if he can stand working on my poor ol' SV again.

These small bits of drama are amusing; they make my workday seem shorter at least.

that powder they pour on wounds isn't actually a coagulant, it's ground up grape nuts.

Guess the co-pilot couldn't face another day of being German and decided to end it all.

Gorilla hump look is unavoidable for me, I've accepted this and stopped caring
