You shouldn't skip vermont

clearly an unprovoked attack by a vicious deer on a hapless motorcyclist.
-
Going to do my best to make this ride, I fly back into Columbus around 12am Saturday.
-
Sadly, I don't see that with our USAF drivers. They may amongst themselves, but as a lowly enlisted maintainer, I never hear admission of guilt. Even after it's proven.
"Right after takeoff in my FA18 I saw a flock of geese in my flight path so I had to lay 'er down."

Have the weekend blocked off to head over, not sure where I'm going to stay though. I'm in Indy a lot for work and we generally stay at the JW or the Crowne Plaza... both are fairly pricy if I'm the one paying, hehe. Good part about Crowne is it's right next door to St. Elmo's.

Grats on the bike man, there are two great colors for the Daytona and you got one of them.
Tonik, it seems like slippers and a bath-robe would be more comfortable on your gas powered lay-z-boy.
-
I sure photograph well now, guess my diet is working. It's even turned my bike into an Italian.
-
Glad to hear you're good to go Andy, and also that the nice new ride didn't get hurt much. That's still a win
thanks! I'm a little sore, found out my lower right side is where I landed because it's a bit tender but not bad. I reseated the bar risers yesterday and I don't think they were bent... everything seems straight again. A new shift pedal is on the way from fleabay. It's really unbelievable to me how lucky I got. I keep feeling like some horrible thing is going to come up; must be survivors guilt.

Locals seeIng us in their front yard literally were like " ho hum. Thars another motersickle down"
Glad you're ok. We knew something was wrong. You were never more than a min behind the whole day.
That ride backwards to what you think might possibly be trouble is always so solemn. Never know what to expect.
They were nice enough to lend us a socket wrench to bend my shifter back into a usable position. They got a good show at least, and didn't have to pay to see it.

I was pushing myself on the new bike and entered a hairpin a little too quick. Felt the back end start to kick out, stood it up and rode it over the soft bank instead of laying down on the road, was probably only going about 15 mph at that point.
Stupid mistake on my part. Found out where my comfort level lies for now though haha.

Crap!! Were you on the SV or the new bike?
the new bike.
need a new set of bar risers and a new shift pedal and she's as good as new, not even a scuff on the tank.
-
Great ride guys, minus the little romp in the grass I took.
No damage to me, no notable damage to the bike. Good times.

there was a short shower here in columbus at 2am and 6am, they didnt last for more than 5 minutes each though.
i see sunlight peeking through clouds right now.

Weather is so unpredictable today. Every minute you refresh it's different story. Staying near new concord now and it look very nice outside now. Damn hope this stays.
I would urge only riders with many many miles exp and have ridden through lot of rain to come out today. No need to risk as the official ride is called off. Ride only if you really desperate to ride and the itch is strong that it has to be scratched most possibly will have good stretch of road and fun. Definitely will get rained on sometime during the day
Don't think it's officially called off, I think Derek just got shafted by his work and couldn't make it.
-
See you fellers (and ladies?) at the shell at 9.
-
Derek rocks.
See you Ladies & Gents out there tomorrow.
-
Ok well I'll just post this now.
I will be sitting at the designated shell station on a bright orange Triumph at the stated time tomorrow morning in Columbus. I'm keeping to the schedule posted in this thread, unOfficial ride cancelled or not.
-
So,
I will be heading over and riding the route tomorrow regardless of weather. Depending on what Derek decides to do, is anyone else from WOhio/Columbus 100% planning on heading over to the ride tomorrow morning? If so, are we keeping the same meet point / time frame?
This is a just-in-case since we haven't heard anything officially yet. Plan B, if you will, except nobody is pregnant this time.

Link me some weather sites that are saying it's okay and I'll take a look at it. Weather Underground is what I'm using and I've found it to be fairly reliable in the past.

says thunder between 3-4 but fine the rest of the day.

of course 3 other sites have 3 other completely different forecasts so...

work till 5-ish here. was thinking about stopping over at iron pony to look for some bar ends though. bar vibration on this striple is pretty rough.
-
SV may be getting sold. I don't want to keep it and just have it sit around if I am always riding the striple. I'll hang onto it for now though.
And yes, mod time... I already have plans. Luckily since it's the R, the brakes and suspension are pretty nice and don't have to be touched. My big want is a low mount exhaust, those two bun-warmers on there now aren't ideal on hot days.

The two nicer (I use this loosely) places I'd recommend for larger groups would be Fogo de Chao or Buca di Beppo. Elmo's too but good luck getting in.
for beer and food, Ram, Granite City or Rock Bottom are all solid choices.
