  1. Thank you, i will be going with a slightly differrent setup next time. Hopefully i can get a good inside view as well. It wasn't my first time at Mid-Ohio but it has been a few years so there were some parts of the track i had to get back down in my head. It was my first time in the STi so most of the day i was testing shift points, breaking and over all grip. So i know some of my laps are rough. The last session i had most of it worked out and those were my best laps. I had a instructor with me for most of the day until my 4th and 5th sessions.
  2. Here are some videos from the local SCCA’s PDX at Mid-Ohio Road Course. It was a great day, good weather, and a clear track. This was the first time for STi on the this track, so it took me a while go get my shift points down. By the end of the day I was much faster, and I can’t wait to get out there again. We had a lot of fun cars out there, including a 911 GTS(997), Cayman S, Evo IX RS, E46 M3s, and some others. 2nd Session 3rd Session & Other Bits 4th Session
  3. I saw a new Mirage the other day and completely shocked. I had forgotten they still even made that car. I was the first one i had see that wasn't 10yrs old. I know cars like the Evo, STi, Corvette do not make or break a car company given their limited audience, and narrower profit margin, but they do help people take notice of your brand and aspire to. Pinning on your hopes on the i-miev and outlander when they are going up against the well established hybrid, EV & crossover makes doesn't seem like a winning formula.
  4. I can't say i'm surprised but, its not a good sign for the legacy of the Evo and the health of the company. They no longer have a halo/aspirational vehicle. I don't see what is coming from they any longer that is worth talking about.
  5. They've already said that the BRZ chassis can't accept the AWD turbo chassis. And even if they could it would have added a decent amount of wight and been just about 3000lbs. I would love a modern day 22B but that is a small market of people that would actually by it and the price they'd have to offer it profitability would be difficult. So using the impreza chassis makes since since they wouldn't have to re-engineer it, and put that money some where else. As long as the chassis is good and handles great(which initial reports see to look like it is) what does it matter. As far as power i agree that if they didn't have the FA where i needs to be i believe that the aftermarket has shown what can be down with the EJ so it would have been nice for a modest bump. Maybe they didn't want to step on what the next engine update, so they it looks like a much larger improvement. They'd get more praise going from 305hp to 350hp as opposed to 330hp to 350hp. Yea but that is an "option" i highly doubt it will be standard equipment. So those that want a well equipped STi with toys will get the Limited and everyone else will get the base that will be lighter. The car isn't overloaded with crap like a luxury cars. I'm more upset with the brake based torque vectoring. Its a cheap way to at tech that good for regular drivers but not high end performance cars. I've driven cars thats had everything from brake based open diffs to brake base torque vectoring and i've never experienced one that is smooth engagement. They can over heat your brakes if your driving in twisty rights, autox or rally when you get a lot of wheel spin. Thankfully you can turn it off with the traction control. If it was a system likes Acura's SH-AWD that uses a gear to over drive the outside wheel that would be great.
  6. Until aluminium or carbon fiber gets cheaper to put in mass produced cars i don't see any car losing a significant amount of weight. The new F150's body had go aluminium to shed its 700 lbs. Also safety standards are just getting higher and higher, and so is weight. As far as the powertrain unless we get a bombshell and some upcoming car show the JDM STi will also retain its EJ207. Which tells me while the new FA motors have potential and work well in the WRX and forester XT it is not ready yet for what they want to do with the STi. If that is that is true we could be in for something fun this cars mid-cycle refresh. Like i said before if the new STi gets the same EJ then it may be just a stop-gap measure on subarus part while it gets the motor ready. Just like when we got the 2010 mustang with a new body and the old 4.6 motor, while they were finishing up the new 5.0.
  7. I don't know if they've had the actual announcement yet but they have released a press release for the "New" STi. They basically took the safest option for the new STi which is the old STi power & drivetrain to a new better chassis and better interior quality and tech. While the looks are subjective, the STi package makes the new body look much better. While not as big a step as many would have liked, i believe that the new STi is a step forward. Cliff notes to the press release. It will have the same EJ257 will continue to power it(same output as well), and the same transmission. Along with the new chassis it will have a retuned springs and steering. The DCCD is now called Multi-Mode DCCD, but performs the same function. The only change is it will have the WRX's Active Torque Vectoring which brakes the inside wheel to send power to the outside wheel to help with turn in :fuuuu: The interior is the same as the WRX with Unique STi badging. Tech includes their multi-information display that will include VDC realtime operation and boost gauge. Power seats are now an option as well as a better stereo.
  8. Looks like the new STi NBR came out. With it lower and on wider wheels it looks meaner. No word as to what the powerplant is. You can tell its its running ELH. Looks like most people are thinking its going to still be the 2014 power & drivetrain. I'm fine with it if its because the FA engine is not ready be what the new STi should have. They did the same thing with the '10/'11 mustang. Its better they go with a proven engine instead of one they aren't sure is ready for the STi yet. I just hope it gets some modern tech with the drivetrain like actual torque vectoring, and not the brake based systems. http://www.subaru.jp/tas2014/report/img/picA_2_L.jpg http://www.subaru.jp/tas2014/report/img/picA_4_L.jpg
  9. I'm still waiting to see if it's the same EJ, a modified version, or the FA. The exterior doesn't excite me bit some angles look nice. The interior looks good.
  10. I'm on my second car with the EB 3.5 and i've not had any issues with the motor, and thats with several autox's under their belts as well. I want to see how well this engine ages, i'm currently just over 15K now.
  11. I think it has promise, but i'm still waiting to see what the performance specs are. If nothing else could make for a interesting prospect for the next STi.
  12. Wow i haven't see that one yet. I like that one too.
  13. I think he means the Merkur XR4TI/Ford Sierra. It did look good out there.
  14. LoL, me and the SHO are built alike.
  15. It was a long weekend but very much worth it. It be nice to see what the car could do with some good tires.
  16. As much as i learned, i think the school was my most inconsistant day yet. My times were all over the place, but it seemed to have paid off because i was much better on sunday. I also enjoyed my corner working assignment on the island. Have 15ish seconds to run and get a cone before the next car came barreling down the back straight, made for a great workout.
  17. I'll be fresh off of the driver school so it will be nice to see if it helps.
  18. Look like the rest of the Pictures have been posted https://picasaweb.google.com/106913679852802708833/March30thEventPhotosByWilliamWaldock https://picasaweb.google.com/106913679852802708833/March30thEventPhotosByWilliamWaldockII
  19. Not yet, but i was moving so fast the letter couldn't even stay on. :gabe: sure was.
  20. Looks like some more pics have put made available. Ben Miller's Photos: OVR SCCA Fun Event Got a couple pics of the Land Yacht setting sale http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee117/j2onlineaccts/Wheels/DSC_0271_zpsc9684f98.jpg
  21. Nice, i'm still getting used to what i will be competing against in RTA. thank you, i knew going into this it was going to be a handful. I can say that i could get the back end to come around with little effort. Are you going to the drivers school?
  22. I can say one thing i learned saturday is i don't need to any more power to the car. I need to work on keeping the cars transition under control. As fun as my spin out was i don't want to make a habit of doing that. It was nice meeting you too. It was great to get to see the TTRS in person.
  23. I'm just glad i didn't sink the SHOboat. I know the GTR drive did tell me he go some good pix if me, and was turning them in before he left saturday. So it we should have some more up soon.
