LoL, I've almost forgotten about AutoX now. I just want to get back out there. I need to conquer the carousel. Thankfully the MS3 FWD setup did really well in the rain both days. Even with DSC off, and my track tires on. I did a PDX last year with SCCA at mid-ohio and we had a monsoon during one of our sessions that really tested your car control skills. Next time i'm there i'll look for you. I want to make it to HPDE 3 in the MS3 and then look into getting a dedicated track car. Either a mustang gt, 350z or a civic.

Yea i need to upgrade my shocks and find a way to get some adjustable front camber.
-
Sounds like a plan. Maybe setup a meet for the august event since that is the next time their doing hyper drive.
-
Yea in the group i was in there was a 911, vette, Ariel Atom(bad ass).
-
It was a blast, and the ms3 did do well except for the braking issues. I was able to bleed some more air out of the system today so that shouldn't be a problem next time. The next nasa event is in July and then in august. I know i'll be doing the one in August and maybe July if i can put in the OT for it.

Cool my instructor was in garage 26 with a blue civic hatch. It is addicting, i'm trying to see now when i can make it back up there a couple more times.

This is my second time at the track, first time with Nasa. I had a blast, i started out in HPDE 1 but was able to move up to HPDE 2 by the end of the weekend and got to drive solo. After two days, 1.5 tanks of gas, 8 track sessions, and about 2/32nds of tread i can say this is by far my favorite type of motorsport. I still will be autoX'ing to sharpen other skills but road racing is seriously addictive. I still have work as a driver i need to work on, foot work(down shifting smoothly), corner entry(partially caused by issues i was having with my brakes). All my lines are good. Most of the people at the track were really friendly and willing to give advice. The car did very will. FP held up fine with my mods(SRI, TMIC, TP & CBE) and on stock tune. the Falken 615K's(255/40/17) did a good job of sticking in all the weather conditions we had(some rain 55 degrees and then sunny 80 degrees). One thing i can see is i need to do something about the shocks. I'll proabably be going with Koni's and eibachs here shortly, i'm not ready to make the jump to coilovers. I've got a few pics of the weekend and a couple in car vids(will post later once edited.) http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee117/j2onlineaccts/Wheels/DSCF0050.jpg http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee117/j2onlineaccts/Wheels/5605095190_686b015239_o.jpg http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee117/j2onlineaccts/Wheels/img1594edit.jpg http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee117/j2onlineaccts/Wheels/DSCF0011.jpg http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee117/j2onlineaccts/Wheels/DSCF0008.jpg http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee117/j2onlineaccts/Wheels/DSCF0024.jpg http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee117/j2onlineaccts/Wheels/DSCF0007.jpg http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee117/j2onlineaccts/Wheels/DSCF0010.jpg

Congrats. -
Looks sick. I'd go with a different rim color so theres some contrast.

What condition is this track in now? I've heard no so good things about it in the past.

I like RWD cars but i wouldn't want to own one for my DD/track. Especially in the winter here. Plus i'm to tall for most RWD cars to sit in correctly with my helmet. The FF layout isn't ideal, but they did a good job setting up the chassis in the ms3. When i ran at Mid-Ohio, I did pretty well. Got up to 120+ on the back straight, and was braking so hard that i had smoke pouring out of brakes but i had barely any wear on the pads. It may be because i was running Hawk pads. I agree with most of this. There are alot of good FF cars out there right now, that can more than challange RWD & AWD cars. While i know i can't use the ms3 to its fullest i know can get atleast 50% out of it. Though its a really good deal i'd prefer to get some more seat time and out to the track more.

Agreed, whats the use of a fun car if you can't enjoy it. I do like the evo but they jack my Ins way up. The STi doesn't. Most people don't but i like the front end of the MS3. I do agree the STi is a better platform overall when it comes to modding. I did have the MS3 at Mid-Ohio last year and it was a blast, and did better than i was expecting. The only reason i'm looking is because there i'm getting way more for my car than others have offered, and the STi is 3K under book value.
-
No not yet. I've sat in one so i have a ideal of how i fit in it, but thats it.

Hoping for some sage advice. I'm thinking about selling my '10 MS3 for a '08 STi. Here's my problem. I was all set to continue to mod the speed and take it out to AutoX and Mid-Ohio this year. I then started looking at the 2011 STi. I've always been a fan of the STi/Evo. After looking at the finances i couldn't justify getting a new STi, but i did some more look and found a 08 STi with BBS rims low miles, and looks to be stock. Book value is 29K for it and this dealer wants 26K, i've been talking to a sales person and their welling to give me 21K for my speed. Seems like a great deal. My problem is that if i do it all my Mod money for this and next year is gone and i'll have to cut out mid-ohio for the year. What i'm wondering is the STi worth it? I can't say which car is more reliable, given both have had their engine issues. The STi powertrain is more mature and has more aftermarket support. Most of the mods i'd do would be suspension related, i wouldn't be drag racing so i don't needs huge power.

Let me know if it falls through.

Dag-Nab-it. I just bought a heavy bag yesterday. I would have loved to have jump on this.

Wow that is nice. This is my favorite pic http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2011/02/06-2012-dodge-charger-srt8.jpg

I've never been sledding myself but i think i'm going to take my kids this year.
-
I've had to have it done. Had the my place officially appraised and them my lawyer submitted the request to dispute the value.

I support this motion. Its amazing how if we get anything else besides sunny/dry days her how people just lose the ability to drive. Its the same thing every year yet people are always surprised. OP i'm sorry to see it gone. I had a Green 93 SHO, One of favorite cars of all time.

Here's another shot from my phone this morning with a little more light. http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee117/j2onlineaccts/IMG_20110103_074309.jpg

All set, i got back home late tonight so i didn't get to take any pics outside when there was still some light. Also looks like my camera lens needs cleaned. I hope to get some good outside shots this weekend. http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee117/j2onlineaccts/Wheels/DSCF0041.jpg http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee117/j2onlineaccts/Wheels/DSCF0037.jpg http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee117/j2onlineaccts/Wheels/DSCF0038.jpg http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee117/j2onlineaccts/Wheels/DSCF0042.jpg Before any says it, i know i could use a drop. I'm still deciding on my suspension setup for AutoX. Center caps came out great.
-
I hope so, i also plan on getting the Conti DW's for my summer tires.
-
Thankfully i was able to pry out the emblems out of the caps without damaging anything. I'm sanding them tonight and painting them tomorrow. http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee117/j2onlineaccts/Wheels/100_3350.jpg I also got the tires mounted today. http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee117/j2onlineaccts/Wheels/IMG_20101231_144746.jpg

Its all good. I'm getting my black chrome lugs tonight. I may also pick up some paint so i can paint the center caps to match. Tires are getting mounted tomorrow.
