Seriously Considering An 03 Triumph Sprint St
Helmutt replied to Gixxus Christ!'s topic in Daily Ride
Oldschoolsdime can give you more insight, he went through his regularly since maintenance is almost a practicing religion to him. He traded his off for an FZ1 and hasn't looked back. I wouldn't count out an FZ1 Sam, very touring capable bikes with a plethra of parts availability -
Unless you had additional custom parts coverage, I doubt they'll consider the aftermarket equip in their paid value. May as well collect prices on the stuff just in case, but the policies on the last 2 bikes I've had I'd added $1k in custom parts coverage to ensure extra payback

Thanx for the info, I appreciate that and will be sure to fill him in on these

8:30? As in a.m.? We work all day, plus there's a probability of rain Friday evening/night so bring your umbrella girls along

Uh.....crankcase IS the trans and bottom end Not sure whats not easily grasped here...

YES, drain the tank before you prep it. You'll appreciate the lighter load flipping it around when you're sanding it. A paint job will only be as good as the base is prepared, imo I would let a pro handle it all.

He said he wasn't sure whether he'd go ultrasonic or abrasive tumbler, so I wasn't looking into making that decision for him. We've already collected a couple thousand rounds of clean brass for him to start with so really just waiting on him to get his new equip. Think I'll order his Tipton vice and get it here, he'll like that. As for accessorizing, he basically just does work for family & friends. But surely he'll install and tune for others once he gets setup and established. He can reload great and very consistent ammo so far, he just needs a better setup to get production to a higher level so it's not eating up so much of his time. He did a trigger job on my long range gun and it works excellent. Half the pull and shortened the travel down to about 1/16" so it'll really help to keep on target now without such a stout pull and about 3/8" travel killing my accuracy.

Search the member list for Attackpainter and Reimbrandt. Both paint bikes and would be my starting point for an estimate

I wouldn't think it would fail because of that. Novice tech inspect is more good tire life/condition, fluid leaks, loose body panels, and I believe they want tape on any wheel weights, lenses/glass ( preferably mirrors removed ) Intermediate/Advanced tech is more in depth

Awesome job to have, and the scenery is absolutely awe inspiring. Good luck, and hope the weather plays nicer soon so you can make some bank kickin folks out of your plane

I know a guy that bought a '99 KX250 from them about 5 years ago. Bike looked really good, but they "forgot" to fill the crankcase with oil so the main went quick on his test ride around their lot. They fixed it with another crank, rod, mains but it would burn case oil when he rode it hard so the rings were obviously going too. Definitely check anything over thoroughly before buying, but their prices do seem kind of high especially if salvaged titles. You can check their site to see if there's anything you want before going all the way there http://www.racersedge411.com/

I bought the AGV Alliance Urban pack at Iron Pony this Spring for $70. Lots of space, water resistant, loads of pockets, easily holds laptop or 2

Thanx. He's a retired machinist, so calipers/mics/indicators/etc he has plenty of. Looked at some digi scales but not exactly sure what I should be looking for. His plan is to reload .172 up to .308 rifle and .32 up to .45 pistol, but I've no clue yet as to what round carries what measure in powder. I assume the finer the scale can read, the better right? May be a good Xmas gift then. I'd also considered a case trimmer, but there again.....not sure what I should be looking for. I went with the gun rest/vice idea since he can use that immediately vs waiting until his new reload station is complete.

Weather was stellar for riding, but I had to work a 10 hr shift today How was it? Good twisty route?

My father's BDay is coming up and he plans to get into reloading soon, and some mild gunsmithing ( trigger jobs, scope/sight mounting, accessorizing, etc ) so I want to get him a good, versatile, gun rest and/or vice since I cant fund the new RCBS outfit he wants. I prefer to keep the price around $100 but I dont want to sacrifice quality. I've been researching within my price range and I'm very tempted with the Tipton Best vice, it seems to have good reviews, as well as vast weapon versatility, and fairly durable construction. There are some killer rest/vice combos that are very well made, but I dont have the spare bank to buy him top of the line. Caldwell's Lead Sleds seems very well built, but they're a bit out of budget and only a shooting rest, not a vice. The Hyskore Parallax looked good for the money, but piss poor reviews have deemed this virtual junk. The Lyman Revolution is a sweet concept with the rotisserie design, but read it's underbuilt and janky. I need to order one in the next week or so, and although I'm not dead set on the Tipton, are there other brand options I'm missing? What do you have, recommend, or love to no end?

Oh hell, the thread title alone should drag in the ladies around here If you didn't live so damn far, and we didn't already have plans, this would've been cool. Thanx anyway, be safe fellers

Yeah, he doesn't ride with me anymore but asked to come along if I did a trackday.....most likely so he could whoop me in the corners and gather some pride back
-
Got a friend that has an X1 and he loves it, other than the fact it's flatout around 125mph. He tracked his many times and seemed to perform well. If I had a choice, I'd go 1125R

RSD comes up with some cool chit - racey looks, oldschool appeal, and new age tech
-
I don't either. They either believe that once they're in front of you and you asspack 'em, repairs are on your wallet/insurance. Or they just don't care. Or they're completely brainless waterheads that have the depth perception of Helen Keller

Thanx fellas.......I'd already ordered the OEM fluid, figured it was the least questionable option since I don't partake in DBR so should be good to go. The threads I was finding that were recommending blood oil were race guys ( did a random search on the brake system and just took advice out of context )
-
Uh, yeah.......the bike's totalled now so I don't believe he's in the market anymore
