Riding through a solid 2+ hrs of downpour, our 20S's hung in there until about the last 45 min or so. They did crap out eventually, but we'd also been on them for about 12hrs by that point....we're impressed with the functionality, but in the mountains it's easy to lose pairing without riding within a few meters of each other

Saturday May 20th, 2017 Western Ohio meet spot will be at the Shell station on the corner of Leffel Ln and S Limestone ( Rt72). Wife and I will get there about 745am, fuel up, and be ready to roll I-70 east by 8am sharp. Shell Gas Station 2301 S. Limestone St. Springfield, OH 45505 The secondary meet point in SE Columbus, giving other central Ohio area riders a collection point to hookup with an OR group to ride in with, will be at... Eastland Shell Mini Mart 2191 South Hamilton Road Columbus, OH 43232 We should be at this secondary meet point just before 9am, pending traffic. THIS WILL BE A QUICK STOP SO WE CAN MAKE THE EPIC RIDE MEET POINT ON TIME, SO PLEASE BE FUELED AND READY Plan to head back out from there no later than 9:10 to ensure we reach the Epic Ride meet point in McConnelsville by 10:30'ish am. *NEW riders & 1st time Epic Riders* This is virtually ALL slab work to McConnelsville, so anyone tentative about interstate riding should beware. Also, you're welcome to my factory service manual ( 2011 GT book, but I believe the engine's are unchanged from yours ) if it will help narrow down the issue, or if you need any specs/diagrams to chase down the gremlins

I'm bringing some tire change friendly equipment as well so whatever you may not have, I likely will Stecoah Diner. Good stuff, and VERY fair prices. Their breakfasts are great as well. Wife and I's maiden voyage to the Gap a few years ago was at IronHorse Inn. They've got good chow there too ( the grilled salmon was stellar! ) only downfall is you have to get on the guest list in advance so they know how many they're feeding.

IP knows his bike shit, I'd trust his advice all day. Avoiding the DS bikes for anything but trail/single track/downhill is the truest of true stories. I've still got a DS bike from the late 90s, and it soaks up a lot of the pedal power on the road/bike paths. Hard tail mountain bikes aren't too bad on paved surfaces, and will still give you somewhat of a dirt capable option if you decide to trail ride it. Try a decent mid-grade bike to start out with ( $300-$500 ) like you're looking at now Justin, then if you find you really dig biking - seek out an upgrade later or something more specialized to the type of biking you want to stick with. I've always been more of an offroad fan, that's why I went with a DS bike. Trails are fun, and to me it seems it works your whole body more than road biking. Also be sure to get a bike that's close to your fitment, if not fitted for YOU. I bought my XL framed bike without any concern of how it fit me, I was strictly concerned with the price I got it for.....so riding more than 8-10 miles really torques my back/shoulders/neck.

Sounds like the wife and I. Both hate to shop, she doesn't like boutique anything, and she was my enabler behind whatever I wanted to upgrade to ( either a brand new RS/Multistrada ). I chose to go cheap on a used Sprint so I could get a new truck last fall. So happy my wife is supportive, equally frugile, a biker chic, and isn't one of those high maintenance girly girls. Oh, and glad to hear you kept it on 2 wheels Joe. Would've been a heartbreaker to dump that new ride

Drumwork is still fairly technical, but the music overall has better composition. Vocals aren't the gutteral brute of their old stuff, the guy actually sings some now

New. No question for me. We pull 5-10 year old harnesses out of trucks everyday at work ( half as old as your bike ), and it's a frequent issue to have cracked/broken connectors and hardened/brittle wiring. Heat, UV, and general use take quite a toll on the components of a harness, as well as the vinyl wire sheathing. To me, even if it's a $100 more than used.....worth it to not have to tear down and rediagnose another problem once it's installed.

The only chinks I've ever read in BMWs armor on this bike is the multitude of panels/fasteners ( from what I gather to be a given on most BMWs ) and the apparent vibration issues at certain revs. Neither are really deal breakers, imo, since the bike scores highly in most every catagory
