  1. Wait.......appropriate fluid?? No need for race plastics......tape up the lamps, pull the mirrors, safety wire the required goods, drop-n-swap with track approved coolant and it's race ready!
  2. Bet it's a good feeling coming in last but still earning points Think he had a GSXR6? 750? ( #14 red bike pic in my album at MO '08 ) that he lowsided......the bike flipped off the track and he broke his arm.......so while in a cast over the late fall and winter, he bought the '08 ZX14 from Vista Kaw in Dayton. He broke the bike in the following spring and installed Brock's Street Meg system and PC3 - raced it only a couple times that I'm aware of while he was rebuilding his trackbike, but after selling me his 14, he ended up with a newer 636 ( it's the #92 army green/black bike pic in my album at MO '09 ) -- I do remember him saying that he didn't place or anything when he was racing the 14.
  3. Not too sure why or how or what class exactly - only met the guy a few times during the process of buying the bike - What I do know is that he's an engineer at Brocks Performance, and he's been racing for years at all the local tracks Putnam, Nelson, MO, etc. His handle on BikeLand.org was BullyDogProstock in case anyone has a connection with him there - he seemed like a straight up guy though, and he sent me pics of him on 2 different track bikes and one shot of him on the 14, they're in my album pics. Maybe he was just conserving some points and getting credit for race completion? Wish I knew because they (Brocks) were looking into race systems for 600-1k bikes. Apparently Hooters/Brocks sponsored Tim Hunt won the Championship, but dont know the class -
  4. Sure man, whatchoo wanna know? I would rather a PM though, just so as not to continue the threadjacking here...
  5. Gotta love DVR!! Can watch whatever I want without waiting for commercials, and still be in bed at a decent hour - Top Shot is on my top 5 list.......loves the gunshows
  6. Trackday, trackday, trackday!! That's where EVERYONE should learn cornering, braking, body position, and track position techniques. The guy I bought my 14 from is/was a CCS or WERA rider and while his trackbike was wadded up at home, he raced the 14 a couple times just trying to keep his points up ( thinking he was prostock or superstock class?? I don't know for sure )......when he showed me decals he'd placed on the lower fairing, he said he put them on to cover up some scratches from scraping the fairings at the track!! I couldn't believe my ears, until he explained that he rubbed the coping in an off-camber turn so it all made sense then.......gotta be aware of not only how your bike is positioned in the corners, but the topography of the surface you're riding on can still jump up and grab you when you least expect it.
  7. Uh Oh.......a DOCTOR with O.C.D. AND A.D.D.?!?! Do you prescribe yourself the good stuff to cope or just misdiagnose patients on a regular basis due to inattentive compulsions?? :D:D
  8. Schaweet!! Get some pics of the build put up in here!!
  9. new age 600's are definitely phenomenal machines when compared to 10 year old 600's, much less the mid 90's bikes. If you're getting 98 BHP from your bike, I'd be proud - that's excellent power for that model year.......my buddies F2 dyno run bested at 89HP after full system/tune/valvetrain adjustment and -1/+1 gearing change. Definitely a lot you can do to increase your bike's performance -- gear it up a bit, you'll shift more often but your butt dyno readings will increase substantially.......if it's not got a full system exhaust, there's another 15HP ( give or take ) to be found once it's installed and properly tuned........have someone ( with mechanical inclination ) help to get your suspension setup for YOU - better the bike handles, the better it will perform for you. Pretty much a concensus from what's been said here already........but as we all know........there's no replacement for displacement
  10. 850cc 4-cyl.?? Just guessing......I see CB750 next to his avatar, so typo??
  11. Wish I could, stuck at work today -- you'll have a tough time getting the sides worn in to match the center on public roads.......but if you do give it a try, please get video so we can see where things went wrong Take it to the track and pile it up on the bead there!!
  12. Stock seat is shit to look at, but fairly comfy -- I tend to keep my solo cowl on all the time to hide it unless I'm totin' the wife. I like the look of the 14's vs. Busa's......especially after Zuki's redesign - yuk. Haven't seen ANY sport tour Busa's around this side of Ohio, but have seen a few touring 14's.......And the aftermarket's goodies are coming up quickly for the big Ninja.......just gotta have some deep pockets (as usual), but it is a good platform to build a powerhouse touring bike. Busa's are dime-a-dozen......but, they've been around since what, '98 or so? 14's been on the market for about 6 years now and still kind of rare in comparison -- that's what drew me into buying one.....Bike looks killer, one of the fastest production bikes available, and they're still unique since you don't see them often........win, win, win! I've never ridden a Busa.......but I do know that they have zero mechanical/ergo advantages over the ZX14 with the one exception of aftermarket parts availability - Kaw did their homework on this bike
  13. When I first read the thread title, I thought YOU "spotted" while getting into it with a fighter from Westerville.........good lookin' bike
  14. Exactly.......class 8 trucks are like large obstacles on the highway just to make riding more fun and skill challenging, IMO. Best tactic is to blast past them to ensure safety :D
  15. Be cooler if some guys grouped up for a ride with this Joe Dirt fella - he could probably be schooled a little too - but if he shows up in yardwork apparel.....at least make him wear a lid. He'd live through blowing out one of those dried out onion peels he's riding on and a good hide sanding, but if his bare head hits the ground there would be water and mullet flying everywhere!
  16. Mix sand into the liner before you roll it on - that AND strategically placed griptape would cure slippery conditions
  17. CR500AF sumo conversion would be a nasty wicked ride
  18. 1000's are basically a big guys 600 - it takes more power to move more mass.......look what I ride yeeeeaaaah, I'm fat......but it keeps me up with jockeys on liters Big bore bikes are more versatile for us "gravitationally challenged" fella's - and big sportbikes can handle too with proper setup.
