From the album: other stuff than bikes

Part of the problem with fully electric vehicles...or motorcycles I guess is the dangerous step up voltages they produce. I do occasionally work on hybrid vehicles and I had to get certified in order to be allowed to go near them. Another huge factor is weight. Lithium ion is a newer rapid growing technology but batteries are still very heavy especially when stacked to achieve large voltage outputs. Ill personally build a dark matter motorcycle as soon as they get that damn Hathron Collider all figured out. ( brains of the forum giggling )

I had no riding experience whatsoever, in retrospect I should have listened to EVERYONE and started on a 250 but I climbed on my TT600 and I was so nervous I was breathing hard. I only went about a mile and turned back. It was not a pretty ride. I was jerking all over as I figured out the controls but I didn't lay it down. 35 miles per hour felt like warp speed. When I got back home and realized I was ok, I couldn't stop smiling. I was hooked instantly. My first 5 rides were like 10 minutes each. Ha ha Fear mixed with excitement and my 5 senses on overdrive. Also I seem to remember making sure I had clean underwear on before my first ride ever

Ive actually got a new helmet at a great deal from a real shop. I have decided to keep the old helmet and shit in it. Sorry for relaying my experience in the hopes it may help someone else. I must have been incorrect as to the purpose of this forum. Hopefully you guys at the least learned that Sport Tour is not a perfect place and in MY OWN opinion is a shitty place to shop.

This forum is for kudos or a beef with a shop. read the description on the front of the forum. IF you actually read the whole post instead of jumping to conclusions you would have realized that i already stated that most of this was my fault for not researching. I am simply stating that before shopping there EVERYONE should do their research. I am describing my bad experience in detail, and yes i am bad mouthing MY experience. I have found multiple other shops in Cincinnati area which will recieve my business that are honest motorcycle shops. i dont know about YOU but i dont want to worry about getting swindled when i enter the door if i dont know much about a specific product. Again this is a OPINION. you dont have to try to defend a shop if you dont like something that was said ( unless you work there...) This forum will have good and bad reviews, this is just one experience and one customer. Im not trying to offend anyone, im just relaying my thoughts on sport tour WHICH IS WHAT THIS FORUM IS FOR.

With Americas new push from Obama to explore alternative fuels the auto industry and I'm sure the motorcycle industry WILL eventually go hybrid or electric or bio or deisel yes deisel... Some manufacturers are having tremendous sucess with electric drive such as Lotus and Ford. BMW is having tremendous sucess with Deisel and Hydrogen. And of course Toyota. All manufacturers are experimenting with Alternative fuel because they know the future of oil is bleek. Hybrids are growing in popularity every year and between the govts tax incentives to purchase cleaner more efficient vehicles and the cost of oil skyrocketing its enevitable. Here in the US we have had it easy as far as oil prices and still do. Oil companies only accept the dollar as currency currently to purchase oil. That means that a country such as Japan must purchase american dollars to purchase oil. And the dollar is the only currency accepted world wide. This IS changing and the dollar is devalueing around the world. Why do you think Japan let's us borrow trillions of dollars? Because they know that the US dollar for now is king. Again this is changing and many countries are no longer accepting the dollar as currency. The oil companies are looking twards the pound or euro as new payment. When this happens fuel costs here will go as high as europe ( around 8.00 a gallon and higher ). Sorry for the economics lesson but alternative fuels are here to stay and WILL overtake gasoline. Motorcycles inevitably have to follow that path eventually.

I don't need their 30 days. They are crooks and will never see the likes of me ever again. I recommend to anyone thinking of checking out their shop to do some research before you purchase anything and take everything they say with a grain of salt.
-
I had a bad experience there. Its my own fault for not researching before I purchased but I got swindled into buying a HJC FS10 helmet that they were upselling hardcore. It was probably sitting there for a year and they purchsed it from the castle. They sold it to me for retail and lied to my face telling me it was on uber clearance and id never find it for that price anywhere else. They were correct, I found it cheaper EVERYWHERE else. Asshats. Again totally my fault for being a gullable impulse buyer but that's fine cause they have lost me and everyone I can tell as a customer. Crooks

Too bad it has nothing to do with riding. I see you haven't read that particular book for yourself...
-
I have noticed a lot through different threads that a lot of people recommend books or videos to watch. Its hard to keep track of all the titles and links so I figured it may be helpful for noobs like me and mabe others if this thread had a collection of recommended reading. Mabe post the title and author/link and a brief description about your favorite books/videos that you found helpful/informative/favorite on riding. Also say whether its for noobs like me, general riders or advanced riders. I plan to stop at the book store this weekend and get my learn on. Thanks in advance
-
Thanks for starting this post, very informative on what others are doing On a side note how do you feel about flipping up your visor in stop and go traffic to try and stay cool and well ventilated? I assume its ok to do this but that's only a noobs assumption.

no problem man, im just trying not to be roadkill as best as i can ___________________________________________________________________________________ Aside from that i know that im too tense. i cant help it man. i have no riding experience at all on a 110hp death machine. dont get me wrong riding is one of the best things ive ever experienced. i just feel like im not controlling it but more of riding it and guiding it along. i will be trying to walk in the msf course may 4th. ill be there super early ( first come first serve ) so if anyone else here plans on doing this or has a spot may 4th, let me in!

I know I ask a lot of questions and have a lot to say but I'm a noob so please bare with me. I've been working on my startoff and am getting quite a bit better. So now here's my next problem. I find that occasionally especially on right turns at decent speed I've found that I am rolling the throttle as I'm pushing and leaning. I know I'm supposed to gently roll throttle exiting a turn but I find that I'm doing it all the time, even entering and during the turn. I believe that part of the issue is that I shouldn't have started on a 600 because its not forgiving AT ALL with mistakes. It doesn't care and has no feelings. It doesn't care if it kills me, it just wants to go. I'm guessing that my arms are too straight or my grip is too low causing the throttle issues but again its a guess. When its happening I'm concentrating on not dieing and not on what's exactly happening cause its happening too fast. I hope mabe with all the riders here mabe someone knows what I may be doing. I do understand that its difficult to tell without seeing me but mabe this is a common thing? As always thanks

i just talked to a friend and he said he had some thor 50/50 boots that if i fit them, i could have them cheap. they say motocross but would this be acceptable?
-
notice how the price keeps creeping upwards the longer the thread continues J/K i appreciate the advise also alpine stars have sizes 38,39,40,41... wtf is that? cant be inches or mm, mabe centimeters? retarded
-
How do alpine stars fit size wise? pretty true to sneaker size? ill probably order boots online cause thats where they seem to be cheapest. last thing i want is to order boots that i cant wear. and i dont feel like driving an hour and 1/2 just to try on boots at a cycle shop

what do you guys think of these http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/1/1/36/7519/ITEM/Alpinestars-Octane-Riding-Shoes.aspx?WT.ac=Recently_Viewed

Its not that I don't want the gear, I have a nagging wife and a fat mortgage. I know safety is first I was just asking about cheaper options. Pardon me if I have bills and can't drop 300 bucks at the drop of a hat everytime I think I need or want something. That being said How do riding boots normally fit size wise? I wear 10 1/2 adidas. Do they usually size the same or bigger/smaller I Have no issues with wearing it, if the boots were 5 dollars I would have bought a pair for everyday of the week and never would have started this thread. Thanks

If were talking sport bikes, I second wicked.

I don't want to confuse anyone with my question so ill elaborate a little. I know racing boots offer the best protection and do plan to buy a nice pair when I have a few hundred bucks to drop. I also know that for the MSF course they require bare minimum and as long as you have above ankle anything then they'll take you. I was wondering as to how relevant racing boots are to regular riding around town and if there was a cheaper option until I can afford the good stuff. I'm not trying to be a squid with flip-flops but at the same time I'm looking for decent protection somewhere between racing boots and tennis shoes that will allow me to take the MSF and be somewhat safe putting around town until I get racers. Does a in between option exist or am I asking a noob question and being a cheap ass? Thanks a lot for the advice in advance.

I've been looking at riding boots lately and I'm just curious as to what everyone is wearing. I currently don't have any but need to get some ASAP before I try and take my MSF course. I don't know if I need full riding boots like alpine stars or justa pair of over ankle boots. Are the alpine stars style necessary or are they for racing? This is my first pair of riding boots as I'm new to riding period. I just don't want to drop 200 bucks on something If I don't need them. Thanks
