I'm new here as well AND a new rider and every1 here is really nice and helpful. Hope you like it as I do. Welcome!

I know I'm a newb but I've had very good luck with Motorcycle superstore. Everything I've ordered is usually cheapest and haven't had any order mistakes and I was amazed when my turn signals came in 2 DAYS!

If the pickup was left of center as reported he either had no control over his vehicle or was distracted by all the kids in the truck. Either way its negligent and he needs to face charges. I haven't heard anything about potential concequences. Its very sad and could have been any one of us seeing as the pickup crossed the divider. Atleast he died doing something he loved. Rest in peace

Early 90s...that puts you about 34? Just asking I turn 30 this month

I definately would've gotten a 250 if I had the choice. I have no issues with looking like a toolbag. Chances are I probably do anyways I just got the TT600 for such a retarded deal off one of my best friends I couldn't pass it up. Ill definately let you guys know if I'm able to get a walkin for the MSF. As far as equipment I have a AC-12 carbon helmet, alpine star carbon knuckled gloves, blue ( to match bike ) scorpion synthetic jacket with removeable armor and liner. As I said I really just need a good pai r of boots and pants after that. So I'm won't have to wear their sweaty smelly disgusting gear that they have there. Eeew. I figure if I'm riding this stuff protects me so I may as well get good stuff.

K, thanks. Ill see if I can get in the next couple classes but if I can't then ill just register for august
-
Everyone keeps saying to register for the MSF course. They are full until August. I do plan on walking in and trying my luck at getting into a class but should I still register and pay the 25.00 right now or just see if I can get a walk-in first? Or do you have to register and pay in order to be accepted as a walkin?

Hahaha, jordans! I was thinking some old chuck taylors * seriously though I do wear adidas adi-racers right now when riding but I know its very important to get riding boots and I'm working on it. I know if I go down my ankles will probably suffer the concequences and I like walking. Also I know the MSF course will only take you in with the proper gear. I do wear my helmet, gloves and jacket no matter what. Aside from that I just tool around town for now. I'm not ready for highway yet. My shoes do have carbon fiber in them! Doesn't that count?

I've belonged to a car forum in the past but it was totally different. It was more tech talk and general making fun of other people. Aside from that most people on car forums are "internet bodies" and in actuality don't know anything or do what they say. I was aprehensive about joining this forum. I figured id just read people making fun of other people and talking a lot of garbage and mabe find a good website or two by reading the threads. But ill say it seems everyone here is willing to teach and share and help. Nice job you guys. Way to make a new rider feel welcome!

That's funny, scary thing is I know people like that. Fortunately I'm old enough to realize that we (I) was not born knowing how to ride. Let me try my introduction again to appease redkow97: "Hey guys! I just got a new 600 but how do you get it over 170mph? I'm not new to sportbikes, I've read quite a few magazines so now I'm billybadass. I don't care if I'm safe as long as chicks look at me. I think I'm too cool for helmets and gear as its too hot and if your gonna hit something its best to have a few drinks in you so your nice and limber. I think in a week when I get better I'm gonna start racing other bikes. That'll be super cool. As long as I look sweet, everything else doesn't matter. Look at me, I ride a loud fast shiny sport bike!" Is that better? :-)

I am glad I joined the forum. You guys are quite encouraging and only seem to want to help. No wonder riders always wave to each other. I feel a comrodery that other people just don't get. If anyone here wants to ride feel free to shoot me a pm or let me know.

I'm always down to ride, especially with someone who can tell me what I'm doing wrong or right and gimme some pointers. Pm sent buddy

I'm not that bad, I've been out cruizin quite a bit. I've put mabe 65-70 miles on the bike so far. As I said in earlier posts I feel good about riding I'm just not comfortable around traffic. I have helmet, gloves, nice jacket. I need to get pants and boots. I've been wearing jeans and sneakers. I want riding boots ( not random black boots ) but I don't know where to get them. There's not many places around here to buy that stuff. Id order online but I really want to try boots on before I buy. I saw a nice pair of alpine star boots online but again I have no idea how they fit.

I do look pretty far into turns, I try to see the exit when its possible. I've found that when I do it correctly its like magic. The bike just goes wherever I was looking. As far as push left, go left, I do as much as I can but I'm still leaning the whole push/lean and how much is not enough or too much. I feel pretty good in turns but I've found my starts from a stop to be most troublesome for me. I stall a lot. As far as the MSF course goes should I show up in full gear? Or have it with me or is the first day all classroom? Thanks

I strongly agree that I need the MSF and will do so as soon as I can. In the mean time I keep hearing about developing bad habits. What bad habits is everyone talking about or are most common?

Ill definately get as much seat time as possible. I know I didn't come out of my momma knowing how to ride I have to learn it and with any skill its all about experience. If it makes sense, I'm not worried about other drivers doing stupid things as I fully expect them to. I'm more worried about doing something stupid and losing control. I feel rushed in traffic where as if I'm on a country road I'm free to start/stop/ride at my own pace. I don't know if that makes sense or not. I think the scarriest thing I hear is that you never stop learning. I know a amazing old guy that rides a norton and a ducatti and he's been riding for like 1000 years. He's got some scaarryy stories and some really funny ones but even he says that he still learns stuff everyday. How can anyone ever feel proficient? I guess in short I'm just not confident enough yet. I guess I'm just looking for people to tell me that I'm doing good and this is totally normal and to be expected and mabe share some learning experiences. HERE'S ONE FOR YOU GUYS TO LAUGH AT ME. I went riding with my friend that lives in a gated community. He wanted to stop at his house to grab something so I followed him. We got to his community andThe gates are automatic and the entrance is an incline. We stopped and he punched in the code to open the gate and went on through and I stalled. I restarted and made sure I was in first gear and the gate started to beep and close. I panic and stalled in again and the gate starts smashing me and the bike and I'm swearing and trying to push off of it and he's laughing histerically about 1/4 mile inside the community. That was a bad day but helped me realize I need to work on my starts
