How many products, motorcycle related or otherwise, can you name that have stayed on the market and remained competitive for more than five years? How about eight? That’s what the original Held Phantom managed to do. They’ve been winning awards and comparison tests since 2005, but that run has come to an end with the release of their successor - the Held Phantom II. The Held Phantom II retains the full kangaroo leather construction of the original, which makes it surprisingly flexible and lightweight considering how beefy they look at first glance. The inherent lightness of the kangaroo means that more protective elements can be added without making the Phantom II feel restrictive. Other features that go relatively unchanged from the original are the Kevlar lining on top of the hand, special stepped seams on the fingers for an unobtrusive feel, and stingray leather on the palm. Stingray leather is incredibly abrasion resistant and acts as a slider on the heel of the palm. Held had an excellent starting point with the original Phantom, but that doesn’t mean they only gave a fresh look to the old features. Many brand new elements were added to the Phantom II. Starting at the fingers, the Phantom II’s use a material called Superfabric on the knuckles of the pinky, ring and middle fingers. This is backed by Kevlar and shock absorbing foam for even more protection. Each of the first two fingers also have been given flex panels for easy manipulation of your controls while on the bike. Above the fingers on the back of the hand is a brand new, multi-layer knuckle protector. It uses a titanium slider that is seated in a molded TPU base, with thick, energy absorbing foam underneath it all. It not only protects, but it does so very comfortably. The wrist is guarded by a similar, layered armor scheme. The difference here is that instead of titanium, it is Superfabric that provides the first line of defense. The Held Phantom II is very well rounded gauntlet that provides some of the best protection available, excellent comfort, and a very supple feel. It is definitely a worthy successor to the long-running Phantom, and you can get your own pair from Riders Discount by getting in touch with Nathan through this forum, or by calling 866.931.6644 ext. 809. You can also feel free to send an email to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM and we’ll get back to you right away! The new Held Phantom II gloves sell for $289.99 and come in White/Black (shown), Black, Hi-Vis Yellow/Black, and Red/White/Black. A full Kangaroo palm is light, flexible and abrasion resistant. Stingray leather and energy absorbing foam provide protection for that crucial impact zone on the heel of the palm. The new knuckle protector features a titanium slider that is seated in a molded TPU base, with thick, energy absorbing foam underneath it all. The large vent at the back of it works together with perforations between the fingers and on the back of the hand to allow for air circulation. The fingers are guarded by layers of Kangaroo, Superfabric and energy absorbing foam. The first two fingers have also been given flex panels for easier manipulation of the controls while on the bike. Superfabric runs up the wrist and works with the Stingray on the palm to protect the entire side of the hand. Side wrist closures are both comfortable and keep things secure. A look inside the Held Phantom II. The top of the hand is lined with Kevlar, while the bottom is unlined for the best feel possible.

Motion Pro makes a full range of tools that can make any motorcycle enthusiast’s life easier when it comes to working in the garage or in the pits. We’ve used many of these tools ourselves and have them in our toolboxes at the shop and at home, so we can vouch for their convenience and quality. If you are interested in any of the Motion Pro tools listed here, or any other that they make, just get in touch with MIKE through the forum or by calling 866.931.6644 ext. 804. If email is more convenient, feel free to send those to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM and you can expect a quick reply! Motion Pro Digital Tire Pressure Gauge The most accurate tire pressure instrument made by the company. It uses a high-precision digital pressure sensor that is accurate to within 1% at 77 degrees F. Motion Pro Square Drive Spinner T-Handle The Motion Pro Spinner T-Handles feature your choice of ⅜” or ¼” sizes so that you can snap your own sockets right on and go right to work. Similar to standard T-Handle sockets, the Spinner has a lot of reach, allowing you to get into hard to reach areas without losing the leverage you need to break loose a stubborn bolt. The feature that sets it apart from others is the addition of floating spinner grip on the shaft of the tool. This lets you firmly hold the socket in place while spinning it freely in either direction. Motion Pro Mini Bleeder The Motion Pro Mini Bleeder combines a few different tools into one handy little package to take the hassle and mess out of bleeding your brakes. The wrench is floating and has 12 points to fit on the 6 point hex of the tool body. This allows you to make small adjustments to be made in small spaces if necessary. A rubber seal inside the body prevents leaks and a one-way valve that keeps the fluid flowing in one direction. Fluid flows out the long hose that is attached to the back of the body, allowing you to route it into the catch can of your choice. Available in 8MM, 10MM, 11MM and 3/8” sizes. Motion Pro Chain Alignment Tool This simple tool that takes all the guesswork out of aligning your rear wheel and lets you know if you need to make any adjustments at a glance. All you need to do is clamp the body of the tool onto your rear sprocket, take a quick look at the rod to see if it lines up with the chain and... well... that’s it! If you do need to make any adjustments, you can do so with the tool still attached, glance at the chain again, and remove it when you’re work is done.

Every type of material used in protective riding gear has different strengths and weaknesses. Leather, for example, offers great abrasion resistance, but this comes at the expense of mobility and airflow. On the other hand there are textiles, which are lighter and more flexible, but can’t match leather in terms of protection. The Icon Compound jacket both of these materials together into an everyday type of riding jacket that aims to give you the best of both worlds. The Icon Compound uses both 1.2-1.4mm cowhide leather and a durable textile in its construction. Major impact areas like the arms and shoulders are protected by the more abrasion resistant leather, while the main chassis is made up of durable but lightweight textiles. This combination allows for comfort and ease of movement without sacrificing protection where you need it most. It isn’t just the two main materials that keep you safe, however. The Compound also features an articulated back armor plate, plus CE approved Field Armor in the shoulders and elbows. As an all around jacket, the Icon Compound comes in a mid-range sport fit. This means that while it is a sporty jacket, it isn’t aggressively pre-curved and remains comfortable on or off of the bike. It isn’t the kind of fit that requires a size up like many of the Euro-sized pieces of gear would necessitate. The Icon Compound jacket comes six different color and sizes Small through 2XL. Color options include: Stealth (Black w/ blacked out logos), Blue, Gray, Green, Orange, and Red. If you’re interested in the Icon Compound jacket, or any other Icon product, feel free to get in touch with Nathan. He can be reached by phone at 866.931.6644 ext. 809, or you can send him a PM through this forum. If email is more convenient, go ahead and send one to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM and we’ll get back to you right away! The Icon Compound jacket is shown here in Green. There isn’t just one type of textile that makes up the non-leather portions of the Compound. Stretch materials under the arm, vented reinforced sections on the body/arms and fighter mesh chest vents all add to the versatility of this jacket. 1.2-1.4mm leather guards major impact areas like the shoulders, biceps and forearms. An articulated back protector is centered at the rear. An array of vents are also built into this area to allow warm air to escape. Articulated elbows add to the flexibility. Ratcheting adjusters on each side of the waist let you adjust the fit.

It may be early in his MotoGP career, but rookie Marc Marquez is already being lauded as the next big thing in premier class. The last Grand Prix at Laguna Seca just added more fuel to that fire when he not only won, but did so during his first outing at the notoriously difficult track. It wasn’t just his overall performance during the race that caused excitement however, it was also his off-road overtake of Valentino Rossi in the corkscrew that had everyone talking. The pass was reminiscent of Rossi’s own move during his battle with Casey Stoner in 2008, and furthered the comparisons already being made between Marquez and Rossi. During the press conference after the race, Rossi compared the young Spaniard’s debut season performance to his own from 2000 by saying, “I did a lot of mistakes and crashed in the first two races, and maybe for that reason I lost the championship. So it is like Marc is me, but upgraded - the new model!” Pretty high praise coming from a man that has won 9 world championships and is currently referred to by many as the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time). Whether you’re a Marquez fan, a Rossi fan, or a fan of any other rider that has a replica helmet on the market, Riders Discount has you covered. Just get in touch with Nathan at 866.931.6644 ext. 809 - let him know which one you’re interested in and he’ll be happy to help! The Shoei X-12 Marc Marquez replica is shown in the foreground, with a limited edition AGV GP-Tech Rossi Winter Test in the background.

Likely will be there. Either this or the race coming up on the 10th. It's quite a long drive though for me though... -
In the past, AGV would only offer the extremely popular Valentino Rossi graphics on their flagship track helmets, but this changed with the release of the much more affordable K3 helmet. The Italian brand has since been allowing Rossi fans to get their hands on some of his most famous helmet designs at an entry level price. Modeled after the top-of-the-line AGV GP-Tech helmet but at a value price, the AGV K3 offers excellent ventilation and many of the same features as the track-focused model. Three user-adjustable intakes are fitted on the front of the helmet, which perfectly compliment four exhaust vents on the back. Inside, the Dry-Lex comfort liner relies on heavy metals woven into its fabric to prevent bacterial growth and delay the onset of the foul odors that come with it. And, while this slows microbe growth, nothing can completely prevent the interior from getting a little raunchy after lots of use. This is why the liner in the AGV K3 is fully removable, making it easy to freshen up. AGV’s standard XQRS (Extra Quick Release System) makes swapping out visors easy. The helmet comes with a clear, anti-fog/anti-scratch faceshield as standard, but we have Smoke, Iridium Blue, and Iridium Mirror shields available as optional extras. One of the great things about the AGV K3 Rossi helmets is that they give you a chance to own some of the legendary racer’s older and very hard to find designs. Current helmets include: - 5-Continents - Wake Up - The Chicken - Dreamtime - Gothic Black - The Donkey - Icon - 46 We’ll be bringing all of them to you in this thread, starting with the Dreamtime, so stay tuned. You can also click one of the links above to check the helmet out on our website. If you’re interested in these, or any other AGV helmets, feel free to get in touch with Nathan. He can be reached by phone at 866.931.6644 ext. 809, or you can send him a PM through this forum. If email is more convenient, go ahead and send one to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM and we’ll get back to you right away! AGV K3 Rossi Dreamtime First worn by Rossi at Phillip Island in 2007, the Dreamtime graphic features symbols and themes that put an aboriginal art-inspired twist on his traditional Sun/Moon motif.
