  1. Stick it to the tank, behind the screen. It will capture the speedo. Only downside is bumping it on tuck for straight line blasts.
  2. I am not. I just used the window to swap out 3 turds. I so thought Rossi would have some go left in him. Looks like it is just gone.
  3. In the past, I used to put the earbuds into the helmet for long rides on the slab. I would put the buds under the helmet pads and route the wires to the back. Tape it off. Technically, they were not in my ear but I am sure I would get ticketed if the man was looking for something to cite me. Never happened Anymore, I wear ear plugs and music comes from the bike.
  4. Adirondacks Lake MI loop. Lake MI with Lake Superior added in Up to Toronto and on to Tremblant Penn. to DC and Philly to do the Patriotic/Civil war sights. Ozarks (I think you mentioned you did that) I am doing the New Orleans after Barber and plan to hit the Blues trail in the delta on up towards Memphis. Graceland, Mud Island, tourist type stuff with the kids. Natchez back was an idea.
  5. You have to report it to your insurance as well. Adjuster will come out as others have stated. They will inspect damage and it will be good to have reciepts or printouts of cost. In most cases, do not expect to have replacement insurance. Adjuster will look everything up and come back with a number, that will be your check. They may offer you to buy the bike back and that will be a deductions from the check. If they don't cover gear or other costs, you can sue for replacement against the person that hit you. Generally, it goes pretty well and the insurance offer is usually good enough. BUT, then it may not be.

Yep, maintenance has no value. It may help get yours sold faster than others but no market value. Mods are pretty much the same way. $2k is not bad but everyone wants to think they got a deal. So, you have to price it $500 over what you want as others have said.
  7. I have looked at these types of carriers with great interest. There are pics of guys loading 800lb Harleys onto them. I have a Honda Oddesey with a Uhaul hitch. I asked around and Honda and Uhaul couldn't confirm if the hitch would hold a 400-800lb bike on a 2" reciever. I really wanted to use one instead of having to deal with a trailer. I am still interested and would love to ditch the trailer. I have only carried two bikes twice and having the trailer in the yard is a PITA.
  8. Bummer. Sorry to see the pics, hope your ok. What is your buyback from the insurance? I smell a track bike upgrade:D Scooters rock on campus. Frugal on gas and insurance. Park with the bicycles in many cases. Easy to transport or get into a house/room for winter. I abused my girlfriends scooter for 2 years and hardly rode my MCY on campus once the scooter showed up. One of these makes excellent all purpose transportation and you can still rip up the twisties on the weekend. $2k for the Ninjette is a good deal. http://dayton.craigslist.org/mcy/3719899923.html Damn, we needed to get you over to Putnam for a TD before you punched out on the local by-ways.
  9. People stop for funerals in the south, so beware. Small towns and rural areas in the Midwest, it is not uncommon to see people stopping or pulling over for funerals. Larger cities, fahgetabout it. Rarely if ever do I see that kind of courtesy or respect. At least in a small town or the south, good chance the deceased is a cousin, friend or acquaintance.
  10. Damn you man, why go and blow a local secret. I so want to go check this one out. Yours or someone on here? Bitani, why another crotcher when you have the ZX? For the women or why not go with something completely trashable and different, like a sumo?
  11. As posted in the Casper's thread, I have never been able to fit into any A-star gear. And, I am not a guy with a significant circumference. (6'2", 32L jacket, 33w x 34l pants) I ended up with a Joe Rocket jacket and I am quite pleased with it. 3 season jacket with removable liners. Not the best looking but quite functional. I spent a lot of time at I.P. trying on jackets. A-Star and Dianese had some really slick jackets that I really tried to shoehorn myself into. Selection was limited but even going to XL didn't help. Size up for arms, chest too big. Always some tradeoff. Joe Rocket just fit. I am not excited about the styling but fit, function and comfort are more important than style because: 1, I am not looking at myself 2, I am married and really have no chance with the ladies 3, 99% of other riders are dudes and can't tell much color beyond black 4, need to wear separate armor underneath 5, I have to wear the gear and be comfy. Now, if I had the coin => Klim gear all the way for me. That is some sexy sweet gear!
  12. For sure! They make some good looking gear and I have tried on their stuff many times at various places and none of it fits (boots/gloves excluded). As a general rule, I refuse to buy gear online any more. That is why I.P. rocks as they carry some many different brands, it is easy to go over and try on to see what fits and what doesn't.
  13. What, no love for the Duke? I also love the Sumo but had to deal with the practicality issue. Ended up with the SMT after the Hypemotard. Not a true sumo but adds practicality. Tradeoffs.
  14. I am amazed they were able to keep the girls there for 10 years and not get caught. I can understand the ability in a rural environment but in a city with homes so close? They couldn't have been chained 24/7 but then, maybe they were. Sad story but glad they are free from their captors now.
  15. Personal bias but why Lake Erie? I don't see the attraction. Now if you said, Ontario or Michigan, I could understand but as others have said, the US side of Erie (Detroit,Buffalo, Cleveland) sucks to ride through and the Canadian side if pretty boring. I have family in Chicago and used to live in Rochester, NY. I took the northern route around the lake frequently in the winter to avoid storms and several times in the summer to avoid I80/90 traffic and construction. Not sure where you have been but I would strongly suggest going to the Adirondacks if you have a week and have never been up that way. You could still go up through Buffalo/Niagra, Toronto and top side of Lake Ontario. Niagra on the Lake is a nice place to stay for a night.
  16. For Harley, there is no other choice. Langlitz handmade in Oregon to your size. http://www.langlitz.com/ I gave up trying to find a leather jacket off the rack that fit. Got my goatskin jacket from these guys. Their pants are top quality as well and go with the Westerns for over pant. Sorry, but you have to get proper leather gear for the Harley. Just as nothing is acceptable on a BMW except Aerostitch. Sidi is fine for boots as long as they are Canyons.
  17. I was trying to make this one happen and finally get to Grattan but it is not to be. Putnam on the 26th is the tradeoff.
  18. I remember seeing you two and thinking that you were part of our crew and were backtracking for some reason.
  19. If only I had a place for the kids to ride it, I would be all over this. Sucks living in the burbs with fussy neighbors and lawn service.
  20. Glad you ok. those coons are not small. Sounds like you didn't have much time to react as you go about 60ft per second at 40mph. So, 15-10ft is quite literally a blink of the eye at that speed.
  21. Guys, thanks for a fun event. Earache, we missed you on the ride home but it sounds like you managed to salvage the day. Joe was a good leader on the return trip. ---------------------- Thanks to MyKill for a nice ride. No way would I have ridden unframiliar roads at that pace on my own, so it was an experience for me and only a couple pucker moments. Good day and I look forward to seeing the pics.

    New Bike

Bike rags always favor the Honda for comfort and ability to be ridden faster with less effort. It loses out by being a very good bike and boring compared to the 1000RR. Kawi and Euro bikes are the only ones with all the nanny aides right now. Honda, Suzuki, and Yamaha haven't gone full nanny yet but you can expect most will be there in 2014. (Yamaha has gone ride-by-wire on the Tenere but I can't recall if any of that is in the current sport bikes. Also, bike rags are speculating Yamaha will be a triple in 2014, based on Yamaha releasing the motor.) Honda has made mention of a V4 sport bike. Nothing confirming if it will replace the CBR but I have to think it will, just to smack Aprilla in WSBK. No clue on what Suzuki is planning. In short, you might want to wait until the fall or start watching for sales. Honda blew out 2008 CBR1ks for $6,800 when the 2010s were coming out. No idea if that will happen again but I would be suprised if there are not sales deals toward the end of this year.
  24. well, if it weighs over 500lbs, Fahgetaboutit!!! Xr1200R is/was a cool bike at 400lbs wet, not the 550 dry or so that it was released at. I followed one home last night. Very cool and awesome sounding ride.
