  1. PM sent. At this time, I am a go. If anything changes, I will send you another PM. 8am-ish sounds good.
  2. Take a trip to Iron Pony. So many brands, styles to try on and prices are good. It is well worth the drive. Just don't shop them and buy online.
  3. Here you go. Class, style and performance for the nice price. MD is just a short hop away. http://www.ducati.ms/forums/128-bikes/186697-2011-ducati-diavel-carbon.html
  4. Hey now, don't go start talking falsely now. http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/103/9194/Motorcycle-Article/2011-Ducati-Diavel-First-Ride.aspx " Reach to the ground is unintimidating, thanks to a 30.3-inch seat height....There’s no dry rattling clutch on this Ducati, with a wet slipper clutch delivering silky gear changes. The slipper function works well, much appreciated on ill-advised downshifts..." Service intervals are not too bad. 600, 7500 and then 15k. That is pretty consistent for most bikes. Then, there is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqDEyAJLneI From drag racing, track, twisties and Starbucks - you should be covered. BTW, do you still have your CX? I had one for several years back in the early '80s and it took me a lot of places.
  5. Problem solved. Short guy with belly - works Drag races - works Twisties - check cant do 200 - check Then, there is the Vmax.
  6. I am working to make this happen. Friday night decision. Anyone else interested in the I71/35 convergence? 8-8:30 time frame?
  7. I am contemplating this ride as well. It will probably be a Friday night decision for me, so I will watch this thread to see if any decisions are made. Question, are any of the Dayton contingent coming back on Sat. night?
  8. First, it is a track day and not a race. Just about any modern motorcycle will be more than adequate for taking out on the track. The goal of Novice is to make you a better and safer rider no matter what you ride. Mid-Ohio is a great track but you may want to consider your first track day at Putnam Park. Sportbike Tracktime runs a good program and the track is a bit easier to learn on. STT also has a special intro program to help initiate riders into the sport. Enjoy, and I highly recommend at a Novice day for anyone that rides.
  9. You need to get to the Ozarks. Miles and miles of scenic twisties with little to no traffic or police.
  10. The site has done what I have hoped it would provide, being helpful, providing insight, and a source for resource. With limited time, I have not been able to take advantage of the more social aspects of the site but I look forward to doing so one day.
  11. Agree, I take my Ducati and KTM back to Commonwealth every chance I get. Though, Clinton County KTM is a pretty nice shop that helped me out. I have been over to Comp. Ass. a couple times. As others have stated, gear selection is limited and they are not worth the visit when Iron Pony is just a bit down the road. I have been in and out of the store 3 times and only once did a sales associate engage. I was oggling the Ducatis every time with a receptionist sitting there. Never once did she ask if we needed assistance or offer to get coffee, tea or .... to make a customer feel welcome. Their loss and I dropped $500 or more at the pony on a helmet, gloves, jacket and a few other bits and bobbles.
  12. Not uptight at all. Just asking for a bit of decorum on the forum. There is a time and place for everything and I do not believe that "INTRO" threads are the appropriate place for general sophomoric comments. Is it too much to ask to keep it civil, friendly and respectful at hello? There are plenty of places on the forum to show your true colors and mix it up with the ladies if they so choose to join in. Maybe, just maybe - a few more women might feel comfortable to join and stick around if they are not virtually hit on from the beginning.
  13. The following rules will be strictly enforced. These apply to any medium offered by this site whether it be private messages, threads, posts, group messages, visitor messages, arcade comments, etc. You can say it, you can think it, you can call your buddy up and tell him all about it, but don't do it on this website: General Disregard for Others - 1pt Excessive Attention Whoring - 1pt Posting Items for Sale Without a Price - 1pt Abuse of website - 2pts Unauthorized Advertising - 2pts NWS Avatar - 2pts Multiple Accounts - 3pts Post under another's username without permission - 3pts Excessive Leg Humping / Sexism - 3pts Personal Attacks - 3pts Wishing Bodily Harm and/or Wreck - 3pts Threats of Violence - 6pts Racism - 6pts Purposely Damaging Personal Property - 12pts Purposely Causing Bodily Harm - 24pts Spamming - 24pts 3pts = 3 day ban 6pts = 7 day ban 9pts = 1 month ban 12pts = 1yr ban (subject to probation upon return) 24pts = permanent ban Based on the rules and a review of this thread, ban hammer should be coming down for a few.
  14. Have to say, this whole thread is rather pathetic. OR is for motorcylists in and around Ohio and if a girls comes here to actually participate in the sport, she would probably be scared away. Congrats on being mature motorcycling enthusiasts and welcoming someone to the sport and the site. Mods should have stepped in here along time ago and with the few other threads where girls have joined. Leave the welcome and ride threads to simply that. If someone chooses to engage in other content in the Time Waster sections then so be it. For shame, most of you. And welcome to the OP. (assuming this isn't a troll thread)
  15. Couple of questions: Old bike make and model, new bike make and model? turning, are you talking parking lot speeds, 90 degree turns or curves. What speed are we talking about? Seating postion. Are you feet forward, chair or feet beneath you? Do the forks turn stop to stop, equally? Some have mentioned countersteering but that only really applies at speed. At slow, parking lot speeds, you may want to use counterbalance. Bike lenght, seating position, rear tire width, bar style/height can all impact the new bike experience. Another thing to check is the rear shock settings for your weight. Add some preload and effectively increase rear ride height may help a bit but that should be more important at speed.
  16. concussion is what that sounds like. Trip to urgent care might not be a bad option.
  17. BS, that handislap blue sign is for parking as well. The light is going to change green and tailights are red. Left turner is the lesser issue not primary. missed one on each option.
  18. Damn, that doesn't look like fun. Just going a bit fast for what looks like a decreasing turn? Buddy and front went wide as well?
  19. Damn that is sweet. I would love to get my girls going on something like that.
  20. one the magical things about big cities. You just never know.
  21. Our last home had a pool. After two years of doing what you describe and spending tons of $$ on chems, I converted the pool to saltwater. All the issues went away and my annual chemical bill was $20 for 3 bags of salt. Added bonus, kids and wife loved the water and how it made their hair and skin feel. Heater kept the temps pretty constant.
  22. So the moon is short range. Lunar lander and rover where light payloads? Short answer, ICBM is a rocket In flight, a booster pushes the warhead and then falls away. Most modern boosters are solid-fueled rocket motors, which can be stored easily for long periods of time. Early missiles used liquid-fueled rocket motors. Many liquid-fueled ICBMs could not be kept fuelled all the time as the cryogenic liquid oxygen boiled off and caused ice formation, and therefore fueling the rocket was necessary before launch.
  23. Welcome. There are a few more STT types on here than the ones you mentioned. I attended one of your Autobahn Memorial day events about 4 years ago. Fun time. Don't waste your time on M-O. It will only ruin your desire to ride in IL.
